OCALA — Richard W. Schmalfeld, 78, a retired shipbuilder, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at TimberRidge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
A native of Lauenburg, Germany, he moved here from Orchard Park, N.Y., in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Schmalfeld, Ocala; sons, Norbert Schmalfeld, Lancaster, N.Y., and Peter Schmalfeld, Orchard Park; and three grandchildren.

SALT SPRINGS — Janie Viola Sier, 105, a retired seamstress, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Marion House Health Care Center.
A native of Kemptown, Md., she moved here in 1993. Mrs. Sier attended Forest Community Church, Salt Springs.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline Burdette.
Survivors include her daughters, Helen Franklin, West Minster, Md., Edna Shipley, New Windsor, Md., Violet Pearce, Hanover, Pa., and Isabelle Vollmer, Salt Springs; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

A native of Honeybrook, Pa., he moved here from Wildwood in 1997.

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS — E.D. Jones Spivey, 78, a retired U.S. Navy mental health counselor, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in Maitland.
Mrs. Spivey was a native of Dunnellon. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Inverness. Mrs. Spivey was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Wheeler, Brandon; son, Bill Spivey, Altamonte Springs; sisters, Ruth Riley and Frances Porter, both of Dunnellon; and three grandsons.

OCKLAWAHA — John H. Wheeler, 76, a produce manager for Winn-Dixie stores, died Saturday, June 24, 2000.
A native of Turner County, Ga., he moved here from Orlando in 1998. Mr. Wheeler attended Solid Rock Bible Church, Moss Bluff. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his son, Thomas Wheeler, Jacksonville; daughters, Ruth McKeever, Ocklawaha, Lori Jones, Lake City, and Tracey Growden, Orlando; brothers, Robert Wheeler, Altamonte Springs, Roman T. RUTHER GLEN, Va. — Jean Farrington Wootton, 85, died Friday, June 23, 2000, at her home.
A native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., she was a former resident of Ocala. Mrs. Wootton was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. She was a volunteer at Marion Community Hospital.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald B. Wootton.
Survivors include her husband, F. Richard Wootton; daughters, Susan Mounts, Ruther Glen and Barbara Tommasson, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A native of Los Angeles, Calif., he moved here from Bushnell in 1990. Mr. Coldewey was a founding promoter of NASCAR and a Presbyterian.

A native of Waveland, Ind., she moved here from Ponce de Leon in 1960. Mrs. Dickson was Protestant. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Ocala and a volunteer at Munroe Regional Medical Center. She also was an avid supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

A native of Miami, she moved here from Miami in 1957. Mrs. Ferraro was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Confederacy.
