GREENVILLE — A. Lee McGehee, 57, former Ocala chief of police, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000.
A native of Ocala, he moved to Greenville from Ocala in 1995. Mr. McGehee was also director of Executive Institute of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ocala, Florida Police Chiefs Association, International of Chiefs of Police, Marion Dunn Lodge No. 19, Ocala Shrine Club, and Board of Directors of Florida Baptist Theological College.
Survivors include his wife, Abigail McGehee, Greenville; daughters, Julee G. Ansbaugh, Tallahassee, Katherine "Amy" Broyles, Lakeland, and Susan Haynes, Ocala; son, David L. McGehee, Tallahassee; sister, Kay Love; four grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Baptist Theological College or Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches.

Dorothy M. Miles, 79
OCALA — Dorothy M. Miles, 79, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Washington, Ind., she moved here from Sarasota in 1961. Mrs. Miles was a member of Ocala West Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her daughters, Ilene Henderson, Ocala, Marilyn Denby, Leesburg, and Vonda Harlow, California; sons, Harry W. Miles, Orlando and Mars Hills, N.C., and Dan Miles, Lake City; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great—grandchildren.

J. Maurice Moreau, 80
INVERNESS — J. Maurice Moreau, 80, a immigration inspector for U.S. government, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000.
A native of Swanton, Vt., he moved here from Montreal, Quebec, two years ago. Mr. Moreau was Catholic. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Grace P. Moreau, Inverness; sons, John Moreau, Ridgewood, N.J., and Robert Moreau, Morrisville, Vt.; brother, John P. Moreau, South Burlington, Vt.; sister, Rolande Kane, Lake Carmi, Vt.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Citrus County.

Hugh B. Potterfield Jr., 73
OCALA — Hugh Bernard "Bernie" Potterfield, 73, a concrete company manager, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000.
A native of Jacksonville, he moved here from Orlando in 1979. Mr. Potterfield was a member of Gator Boosters and Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving at Pearl Harbor. He retired from Florida Mining and Materials in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara R. Potterfield, Orlando; daughters, Sheri P. McInvale, Orlando; and Patty Potterfield, Jacksonville; brother, Tyler Potterfield, Jacksonville; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

OCALA — Sylvia Scott, 95, a homemaker, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Fort Valley, Ga., she moved here from Eustis two years ago. Miss Scott was Methodist.
Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia Thomas, Ocala; and five grandchildren.

Frank J. Verdone, 68
HOMOSASSA — Frank J. Verdone, 68, a retired master tool maker, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000.
A native of Providence, R.I., he moved here from Richmond, R.I., 13 years ago. Mr. Verdone was Catholic. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korean War.
Survivors include his sons, Frank Verdone II, Kevin Verdone, both of Warwick, R.I., and Michael Verdone, Homosassa; daughter, Lynda Murphy, Warwick; and two grandchildren.

Nora H. White, 77
WEIRSDALE — Nora H. White, 77, a home health aide, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000.
A native of Hershey, Pa., she moved here from Bethlehem, Pa., in 1970. Mrs. White was Lutheran.
Survivors include her son, Jerry L. White Jr., Weirsdale; daughter, Diane R. White, Weirsdale; brothers, Edward Huegel, South Bend, Ind., and Ralph L. Huegel, New Mexico; sisters, Anne Deceglia, Prescott, Ariz., and Grace Stryker, Mineral Wells, Texas; three grandchildren; and one great—grandchild.

Juanita B. Williams, 76
OCALA — Juanita B. Williams, 76, a homemaker, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Williams was a native of Ocala and a lifelong resident of Marion County. She was Baptist.
Survivors include her daughter, Thomasina Jackson, Ocala; sons, Thomas J. Williams, Atlanta, Jeremiah Williams, Panama City, and Bernard Williams, Fort Myers; brothers, Willie Berry, Fort McCoy, and Sylvester Berry, Delray Beach; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
