HOMOSASSA — Martha Sanders Hammond, 67, a retired church secretary and bookkeeper, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at her home.
A native of Longview, Miss., she moved here from Jasper five years ago. Mrs. Hammond was a member of Gulf to Lake Baptist Church in Crystal River.
Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her husband, E. Maurice Hammond Sr.
Survivors include her son, E. Maurice Hammond Jr., Homosassa; daughters, Sandra Murdico, Ocean Springs, Miss., Joni Kirschner, Homosassa, and Candie Yousuf, California; brothers, Frank Sanders, Titusville, and Ervin Sanders, Grapevine, Texas; sister, Ruth Canarela, Pascagoula, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

REDDICK — Greg A. Markgraf, 43, a horse seller and trainer, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000.

Markgraf, Reddick; sons, Benjamin Markgraf, Arden, N.C., Garrett Markgraf, and Chase Markgraf, Reddick; sisters, Delores Tatro and Marylee Jensen, Antigo, Maxine Rice, Anthony, Sandra Janssen, Neenah, Wis., Sharon Powell, Debra Rusch, both of Antigo, and Theresa Cernoch, Tomahawk, Wis.; brothers, Gerald Markgraf, Antigo, and David Markgraf, Victor, N.Y.

OCKLAWAHA — Okey M. Meade Jr., 76, a millwright, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000.
A native of Mulberry, he moved here from Orlando 24 years ago. Mr. Meade was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Meade was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Meade.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Smith, Houston; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Dixon, Chaska, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Cornelia K. Moody, 86
OCALA — Cornelia K. Moody, 86, a retired production worker for Fairchild Aircraft, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Surrey Place Convalescent Center.
A native of Bridgeport, Conn., she moved here from Jacksonville four years ago.
Mrs. Moody was preceded in death by her son, John P. Andradzki, in 1997.
Survivors include her daughter, Louise A. Lovett, Micanopy; sisters, May Bardinelli, Pauline Cummings, and Marion Soltis, Bridgeport; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

James R. Schwalbach, 89
OCALA — James R. Schwalbach, 89, a retired meter reader for Con Edison, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Rosedale, N.Y., he moved here from Bradenton in 1993. Mr. Schwalbach was Episcopalian.
Survivors include his sons, William F. Schwalbach, Ocala, and Eugene Markham, Clearwater; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Fred L. Swain, 72
WEEKI WACHEE — Fred L. Swain, 72, a retired postmaster for the Anthony Post Office, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Swain was a native of Anthony and a lifelong resident of Weeki Wachee since 1990. Mr. Swain was a member of First Baptist Church of Hernando Beach. He was a member of Marston Lodge No. 49 and Ocala Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, June Swain, Weeki Wachee; daughter, Kathryn Rowan, Florence, Ala.; son, Frederick L. "Rick" Swain Jr., Gainesville; sisters, Pearl Hooks, Miami, Blanche Yeargan, Anthony, and Margaret Nichols, Winter Haven; brothers, Harry Swain, Wilson, N.C., and Earl Swain, Bartow; and six grandchildren.

BELLEVIEW — Clarence F."Sam" Brandenburg, 74, a retired school custodian in Hartland, Mich., died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000 in Ocala.
A native of Detroit, he moved here from Hartland in 1985. Mr. Brandenburg was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Brandenburg was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn B. Brandenburg.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Stewart, Vermontville, Mich.; stepdaughters, Katie Proctor, Julie Hamlin, and Pattie Hill, Belleview; sons, Gary Brandenburg, and Kenneth Brandenburg, both of Vermontville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.

HOLLY HILL — Florence E. Burton, 90, a homemaker, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Bishop's Glen Nursing Home.
Mrs. Burton was a native of Louisville, Ky. She was a resident of Ocala in 1920 and moved to Daytona Beach in 1995. She was a member of Ocala Women's Club, and elected trustee of Marion County School Board.
Survivors include her son, Phillip Burton, Arden, N.C.; daughters, Lorrain Marran, Califon, N.J., Kathleen Romann, Zurich, Switzerland, and Sylvia Burton-Coates, Cathedral City, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hutchins was a native of Brethren, Mich. She was a resident of Ocala for 20 years, and St. Petersburg for five years. She was Protestant.
Mrs. Hutchins was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Hutchins in 1984.
Survivors include her daughter, Reita Stewart, St. Petersburg, and Ocala; brothers, John and Buddy Hillsamer, both of Bloomington, Ind.

OCALA — Thomas W. Purvis, 85, a retired worker for Florida State Road Department, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Estelle's Hospice House.
Mr. Purvis was a native of Goss, Miss., and a lifelong resident of Ocala. He was Baptist. He was a U.S. Marines Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Ocala Marine Corps League.
Survivors include his wife, Laura L. Purvis, Ocala; sons, Thomas W. Purvis Jr., Ocala, and Ingram L. Purvis, Strasbourg, France; brother, Joseph Purvis, Lancaster, Calif., and James P. Purvis, Frisco, Texas.

HOLDER — Phyllis B. Stetson, 73, a retired dietary technician for Baptist Hospital in Miami, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000 in La Plata, Md.
A native of Waterbury, Conn., she moved here from Miami in 1990. She was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church and choir, Hope Lutheran Welcoming Committee, Cracker Quilters, and Scandinavian American Club.
Survivors include her husband, Clayton Stetson, Holder; sons, Neal Stetson, La Plata, and Kevin Stetson, Cincinnati; daughter, Jill Stetson, Jacksonville Beach; sister, Sylvia Sandner, Falmouth, Mass.; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas Wilkerson, Ocala, and James F. Wilkerson, Belleview; daughter, Patricia Swihart, Topeka, Kan.; brothers, Troy Musick, and Randall Musick, Sardis City, Ala.; sister, Dee Miller, Albertville, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

OCALA -- George E. Williams, 64, a retired diplomat for U.S. Department of State, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Washington, D.C., he moved here from College Park, Md., three years ago. Mr. Williams was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Ocala, the Cosmopolitan Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a United Way of Marion County volunteer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mercy Williams, Ocala; daughters, Penny Anthony, Adrianne Harper, and Valerie Williams, all of Richmond, Va.; son, Ivan Williams, Ocala; sisters, Levert Queen, Chaptico, Md., and Deatlas Edwards, Hampton, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
