HERNANDO — Walter Travers, 88, a retired insurance agent, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Lecanto.
A native of Sommerville, Mass., he moved here from South Carolina three years ago. Mr. Travers was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Kathryn Travers, Hernando; daughter, Nancy Cunningham, Waltham, Mass.; sons, Gerald Travers, Carnation, Wash., Walter Travers Jr., Kailua, Hawaii, and Christopher Travers, Bel Air, Md.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.

OCALA — Rosella A. Brantley, 85, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Montana, she moved here from Largo in 1989. Mrs. Brantley was Catholic.
Mrs. Brantley was preceded in death by her son, Mark C. Brantley.
Survivors include her husband, Loyd F. Brantley, Ocala; daughter, Patricia Martin, Escondido, Calif.; sons, Loyd D. Brantley, and Carey Brantley, both of California; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

SUMMERFIELD — Ann Howard, 79, a retired citrus worker, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Surrey Place of Ocala.
A native of Philadelphia, she moved here from Atlantic City, N.J., in 1957.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane G. Blewett, Ocala; son, James A. Howard, Summerfield; and three grandchildren.

Stephen E. Jennings Sr., 91
OCALA — Stephen E. Jennings Sr., 91, a retired worker for Latrobe Steel, Co., died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000.
A native of Blairsville, Pa., he moved to Ocala two years ago. He was a resident of Derry, Pa. for 40 years. Mr. Jennings was Christian. He was a member of First Assembly of God of Ocala and a U.S. National Guard veteran.
Mr. Jennings was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen E. Jennings Jr., in 1999, and Ronald W. Jennings in 1937.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Laura Jennings; daughters, Janet James and Lydia Watkins, all of Ocala; brothers, William Jennings, and Richard Jennings, Homer City, Pa.; sister, Lois Sipos, Homer City; and seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

SUMMERFIELD — Richard Earl Johns Sr., 85, a retired maintenance employee, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000.
A native of Central City, Ky., he moved here from Addison, Ill., in 1969. Mr. Johns was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Belleview.
Survivors include his son, Richard E. Johns Jr., Duncanville, Texas; brother, Thomas Johns, Ohio; sister, Mary Garret, Michigan; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

BELLEVIEW — Pauline J. Matzonkai, 76, a retired retail salesperson, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at her home.
A native of Naugatuck, Conn., she moved here from Fairfield, Conn., 20 years ago. Mrs. Matzonkai was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Leesburg Boating Club and Disabled American Veterans 85 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Albert L. Matzonkai, Belleview; daughters, Paula J. Rich, West Chicago, Ill., Linda Daigle, Ocala, and Cynthia "Cindy" Matzonkai, Clermont; and two grandchildren.

SUMMERFIELD — Stanley "Stan" Pritchett, 40, a retired U.S. Customs agent in Jackson, Miss., died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Gainesville.
A native of Eldorado, Ill., he moved here from Moss Point, Miss., seven years ago. Mr. Pritchett was a member of Blue Knights International and Disabled American Veterans. He was a U.S. Army and National Guard veteran.
Survivors include his father, Jess Pritchett; stepmother, Susan Pritchett, both of Harrisburg. LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Joseph H. Ruf Jr., 83, a plumber, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000.
A native of Bibb County, Ga., he was a part-time resident of Ocala.
Mr. Ruf was preceded in death by his wife, Elise Patterson Ruf.
Survivors include his sons, Joe Ruf, Atlanta, Norman Ruf, Egg Harbor, N.J., and George Ruf, Philadelphia; and eight grandchildren.

INVERNESS — Jon Michael Talbot, 58, a self-employed contractor, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000.
A native of Ionia, Mich., he came to Florida from Michigan 25 years ago. Mr. Talbot was Catholic. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7122 in Floral City. He was an employee of the Inverness school system and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his sons, Gregory Talbot, Sarasota, and Richard Talbot, Bradenton; daughter, Patricia Talbot Balint, Osprey; sisters, Mary J. Schaefer, Saginaw, Mich., and Sheila Talbot, North Port; and four grandchildren.

BRIDGMAN, Mich. — Crystal Fern Thar, 90, a retired waitress for Whitcomb Hotel, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Jordan's Nursing Home in Bridgman.
Mrs. Thar was a native of Sweetser, Ind., and a former resident of Ocala for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Thar, in 1996.
Survivors include her daughters, Marie Partridge, and Barbara Hopkins, both of Eau Claire, Mich.; sisters, Eileen Aldrich, Tampa, Marge Holmes, Bridgman; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
