OCALA — Essie M. Scott, 89, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Life Care Center of Ocala.
A native of Archer, she was a longtime resident of Ocala. Mrs. Scott was Baptist.
She is survived by her son, Napoleon Crosby, Ocala; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Eugene F. Shanlin, 69
DUNNELLON — Eugene Franklin Shanlin, 69, a retired police officer, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Nature Coast Regional Hospital in Williston.
A native of New York City, he moved here from New Hampshire in 1987. Mr. Shanlin retired from the New York City Police Department and the Dunnellon Police Department. He was a member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club in Dunnellon. Mr. Shanlin served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathleen Overton, San Antonio, Texas; brother, Richard Shanlin, Dunnellon; and three grandchildren.

John F. Turack, 68
SUMMERFIELD — John F. Turack, 68, a retired general foreman for the U.S. government, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, in Ocala.
A native of Hempstead, N.Y., he moved here from Norfolk, Va., in 1991. Mr. Turack retired from the Naval Air Rework facility in Norfolk. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Turack was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred B. Turack, Summerfield; daughters, Teri Maldonado, Jacksonville and Denise Turack, Virginia Beach, Va.; sons, John M. Turack, Suffolk, Va., and Steven Turack, Norfolk; and 13 grandchildren.

REDDICK — Josephine Tyson, 96, a homemaker, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at TimberRidge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Tyson was a native and a lifelong resident of Reddick. She was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church.

A native of Thurber, Texas, she moved here from St. Petersburg four years ago. Mrs. Wood enjoyed playing bingo and working crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric Magnuson.
She is survived by her brother, Edwin Hendrickson, Beverly Hills.

REDDICK — Susie Mae Mendheim, 94, a former business owner, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Palm Garden of Ocala.
A native of Cairo, Ga., she moved here from South Miami in 1994. Mrs. Mendheim was the owner and operator of a beauty salon in Coral Gables for 40 years. She was a former active member of First Baptist Church of Miami and a member of Flemington Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Frances Duke, Fairfield; sister, Mary Carriker, Cairo; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Moffatt; and a son, Thomas W. Moffatt.
