OCALA — Francis Giannino, 78, a registered nurse, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at his home.
A native of Auburn, N.Y., he moved here from Walden, N.Y., in 1988. Mr. Giannino was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Giannino, Ocala; daughters, Marijean Giannino, Berkeley, Calif., Barbara Hunt, South Nyack, N.Y., and Nancy Forster, Pine Bush, N.Y.; sons, Francis Giannino, Middletown, N.Y., and John Giannino, Pine Bush; sister, Jean Casella, Oakland, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

Charles L. Gritter, 75
HERNANDO — Charles L. Gritter, 75, a former business owner, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, he moved here from Plantation Key 26 years ago. Mr. Gritter was formerly owner of Chuck's Kountry Butcher Shop in Holder. He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Gritter was Jehovah's Witness.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Jayne Gall Gritter, Hernando; sons, James T. Gritter, Ocala, and Charles F. Gritter, St. Augustine; daughter, Rebecca Sanders, Hernando; brother, James Robert Gritter, Crescent City; sisters, Miriam Terry, Great Falls, Mont., and Phyllis Thomas, Columbus; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Alan Hudgins, 37
GAINESVILLE — Alan Hudgins, 37, a manager of Walker's La-Z-Boy Gallery and Thomasville Home Furnishings of Ocala, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000.
Mr. Hudgins was a native and lifelong resident of Gainesville. He was a member of Ocala and Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, State and National Furniture Dealers Association, and vice president of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kate Walker Hudgins, Gainesville; parents, Bob and Jean Hudgins, Lakeland, and Mary Ann and Carl Cox, Lecanto; and sisters, Terri Lynn Hudgins Link, Conyers, Ga.; and Tiffany Kristin Hudgins, DeLand.

Myrtis L. McCarthy, 80
OCALA — Myrtis L. McCarthy, 80, a retired registered nurse, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Blythe, Ga., she moved here from Miami in 1957. Mrs. McCarthy was a member of Living Waters Worship Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Miriam G. Pauley; son, Ronald E. McCarthy, both of Ocala; sister, Martha L. Hughes, Augusta, Ga.; brother, James W. Luckey, Griffin, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Darrel E. McMillen, 59
INGLIS — Darrel Eugene McMillen, 59, a retired soil conservationist for the federal government, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, in Savannah.
A native of Osborne, Kan., he moved here eight years ago. Mr. McMillen was a member of Community Church of Inglis and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Inglis. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Winnifred Hornsby McMillen, Inglis; sons, Robert L. McMillen, Daytona Beach, and Robert Yowles, Brunswick, Ga.; daughters, Diane Yowles, Inverness, Nancy Yowles and Debra Yowles, both of Savannah; brothers, Richard McMillen, Missouri, and Kenneth McMillen, Daytona Beach; and sister, Valeta Brown, Wellington, Kan.

Herman Mills, 61
DUNNELLON — Herman "Shorty" Mills, 61, a self-employed construction worker, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, in Ocala.
A native of Pensacola, he moved here from Miami in 1984. Mr. Mills was a member of Mills' Motorsports Racing Team of Ocala and Inverness.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Mills, Dunnellon; sons, Bruce A. Griffin, Davie, and Gregory T. Griffin, Dunnellon; daughters, Debra L. Collis, Miami, Tamala L. Murray, Fort Lauderdale, and Teresa L. DeBello, Coconut Creek; brothers, Jim Mills, Inverness, Mack Mills, James Willard Mills and Richard Wayne Mills, all of Dunnellon; and 10 grandchildren.

Ova B. Niblack, 88
DADE CITY — Ova B. Niblack, 88, a homemaker, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000.
A native of Glenville, W.Va., she moved to Dade City from Dunnellon 11 years ago.
Survivors include her sisters, Juanita McKendree, Dade City, Odna Rowland, Minneola, and Lorave Peterson, Tennessee; brother, Edward Rhoades, McAlpin; and many nieces and nephews.

John W. Recob, 78
SILVER SPRINGS — John William Recob, 78, a retired police officer for Anderson, Ind., died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at his home.
A native of Mount Carmel, Ill., he moved here from Winter Park in 1989. Mr. Recob was a member of Forest United Methodist Church; Masonic lodge, Indiana; Scottish Rite Bahia Temple, Orlando; and a life member of Fraternal Order of Police. He was a U.S. Marine veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Alice M. Recob, Silver Springs; daughter, Susan Creason, Anderson; sons, Stanley Recob, Winter Park, John Recob, Silver Springs, and Phillip Recob, Palm Bay; sister, Helen Rolfs, Anderson; and six grandchildren.

Minnie C. Schneider, 88
SAN MATEO — Minnie Cheshire Schneider, 88, a homemaker, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Putnam County Medical Center in Palatka.
Mrs. Schneider moved to San Mateo from Stuart 60 years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Palatka.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Shirley, Ocala, and Nancy Garrett, Palm Beach County; sisters, June Hudson, Rogers, Ark., Sybil Numrick and Doris Simmons, both of Palatka; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

John D. Smith, 79
SUMMERFIELD — John David "J.D." Smith, 79, a farmer, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000.
A native of Summerfield, he was a lifelong resident of North Central Florida. Mr. Smith was a member of Summerfield Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his son, Dawayne Smith, Summerfield; and two grandchildren.

Guy B. Young, 100
HOMOSASSA — Guy Brooks Young, 100, a retired farmer, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000.
A native of Stanbury, Mo., he moved here from Orlando in 1996. Mr. Young was an active charter member of Community Church of the Brethren, Orlando.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Campbell Young; sons, Rev. Carl E. Young and Dean C. Young; and daughter, Hester M. Davis.
Survivors include his daughters, Verna L. Hiatt, Orlando, Bonnie J. Flick and F. Joy Palmer, both of Homosassa; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

James C. Austin, 94
OCALA — James C. Austin, 94, a retired quality control inspector, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000.
A native of Angola, Ind., he moved here in 1970. Mr. Austin retired from Moore's Business Forms in Angola. He was a member Central Christian Church. Mr. Austin was a professional musician and played saxophone and clarinet with John Philip Sousa in Sousa's band from 1928-1930.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Ruth Austin, Ocala; son, James G. Austin, Daytona Beach; daughters, Nancy Jean Richmond, Silver Springs and Susan Boyd, Rocky Mount, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Eugene V. Boydston, 88
OCALA — Eugene V. Boydston, 88, a retired tool-and-die maker for General Motors, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at his home.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, he moved here 21 years ago. Mr. Boydston served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon A. Strobel; and sister, Mildred Breech, Commercial Point, Ohio.

OCALA — Gladys B. Boydston, 82, a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at her home.
A native of Kenova, W.Va., she moved here from Columbus, Ohio, 21 years ago.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon A. Strobel.

Carl W. Brocksmith, 57
OCALA — Carl William Brocksmith, 57, a cook for Waffle House, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000.
A native of Manokin, Md., he moved here from Augusta, Ga., in 1995. Mr. Brocksmith was also a prevention planner and substance abuse counselor for Organized Families Against Drugs. He was and a member of American Legion, Post No. 27, Ocala. Mr. Brocksmith served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Brocksmith, Ocala; son, Jason Carl Brocksmith, Ocala; stepson, William Bissonnette, Gainesville; brothers, Robert Brocksmith, Ringgold, Ga., Gary Brocksmith, Hollywood and David Brocksmith, Greenville, N.H.; sisters, Mary Alice Brooks, Norfolk, Va., Barbara Hartman, Ocklawaha, Sara Jacobs, Hampton, Va., and Ethel Gwaltney, Nags Head, N.C.
