INVERNESS — Joan Kernan Gauthier, 71, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at her home.
A native of Baltimore, she moved to Central Florida in 1972. Mrs. Gauthier was an active member and a Eucharistic minister of St. Scholastica Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Edmund E. Gauthier, Inverness; daughters, Mary R. "Rennie" Bassett, Fort Myers, and Susan J. "Sue" Groveunder, Hope Mills, N.C.; sons, Christopher M. "Chris" Gauthier, Abingdon, Md., Edmond A. "Chip" Gauthier, Whittier, Calif., James F. "Jamie" Gauthier, Decatur, Ala., and Robert D. "Dan" Gauthier, Dunnellon; sisters, Frances Barnhard, Dagsboro, Del., and Mary Hummel, Alexandria, Va.; brothers, Thomas Kernan, Dayton, Md., Charles Kernan, Great Falls, Va., and Joseph Kernan, Milton, Del.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

SILVER SPRINGS — John C. Hartwig, 79, a retired gas refinery supervisor and auditor, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of McNabb, Ill., he moved here from Lansing, Mich., in 1986. Mr. Hartwig was a member of American Legion Post No 284. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Hartwig was Catholic.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Hartwig.

Mrs. Jackson was a native of Clay County. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Anthony.

BELLEVIEW — Ellis "Bob" Monroe Miller, 81, a retired owner and operator of a paint-and-body shop, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at his home.
A native of Baltimore, he moved here from Fort Lauderdale in 1968. Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was Methodist.
Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Hayes, Kissimmee, Terry Young, Ocklawaha, Shirley Hansen and Wanda Wiles, both of Belleview; sons, Allen Miller, Seattle, Chris Miller, Belleview, Rodney Miller and Larry Miller, both of Summerfield; four sisters, 10 brothers, 23 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

CHATHAM, Mass. — Edna E. Richards, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Cranberry Point Nursing Facility, Harwich, Mass.
A native of Jersey City, N.J., she was a part-time resident of Dunnellon. Mrs. Richards was a member of Eastward Ho Country Club.
She was preceded in by her husband, Bert S. Richards.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Diana Richards, East Harwich, Mass.

Waymon A. Sullivan, 62
OZELLO — Waymon A. Sullivan, 62, a retired master chief for the U.S. Coast Guard, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000.
A native of Ocala, he moved to Ozello six years ago. Mr. Sullivan, a quality assurance engineer, retired after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Sullivan was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 4209, Ocala; Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 2013, Inverness; Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge No. 2522, Inverness; and Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie No. 3992.

Lewis B. Whitworth, 77
SUMMERFIELD — Lewis B. Whitworth, 77, a retired circuit judge, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at his home.
A native of Asheville, N.C., he moved here from Miami Lakes in 1993. Mr. Whitworth was a member of Florida Bar Association; Society for Former Agents of the FBI; and the 43rd Bomb Group. He served as a Hialeah City Councilman, 1961; Dade County First Vice Mayor, 1964; Florida State Representative, 1968; Florida Circuit Judge, 1972 and 1978; and in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by his son, Thomas C. Whitworth, New Orleans.

HOMOSASSA — Lucien G. Rousseau Sr., 79, a construction foreman and supervisor, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000.
A native of Lowell, Mass., he was a part-time resident of Homosassa. Mr. Rousseau was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a past officer of Holy Name Society; a founding member of Parish Council; a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society; an Archdiocesan CYO board member; and past president of the Men's Club; and recipient of a special Apostolic blessing from Pope Pius XII.

BELLEVIEW — William Vernon "Buddy" Abshier, 76, a farmer and cattleman, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Abshier was a native and lifelong resident of Belleview. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Belleview and a longtime member of Belleview Masonic Lodge No. 95, (F&AM).
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn N. Abshier.
