INVERNESS — Paul R. Preston, 76, a retired pipefitter for Chrysler Corp., died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000.
A native of Findlay, Ohio, he moved to Inverness from West Millgore, Ohio 11 years ago. Mr. Preston was Protestant. He was a member of Inverness Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4337; and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Suellen B. Preston, Inverness; son, Paul R. Preston Jr., Clearwater; stepsons, Robert Shaw, Boise, Idaho, and Michael Shaw, Eagle, Idaho; daughters, Vera S. Frizzell, Pemberville, Ohio, Barbara Rumschlae, Fostoria, Ohio, Debra Preston, Reseda, Calif., and Cheryl Flugga, Findlay; stepdaughters, Cynthia Olsen, and Lori A. Wilcox, both of Boise; brothers, Frederick Preston, Findlay, and Daniel Preston, Port Clinton, Ohio; sisters, Edith Snyder, Findlay Elsie Williamson, North Baltimore, Ohio, Ruth Augsberger and Rosemary Ferguson, both of Inverness, and Norma Baker, Wauseon, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Vincent San Gallo, 69
HOMOSASSA — Vincent San Gallo, 69, a retired salesman for Thrift Pack Foods, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000.
A native of New York City, he moved to Homosassa from Spring Hill six years ago. Mr. San Gallo was a member of Church of Jesus Christ in Homosassa. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. San Gallo, Homosassa; sons, Charles Pugliesi, Crystal River, Raymond Pugliesi, San Bruno, Calif., and John San Gallo, North Babylon, N.Y.; daughters, Anne M. Zarek, and Lisa Flanders, both of Homosassa; sister, Jenny Orlando, Melbourne; and seven grandchildren.

Leroy T. Syms, 70
REDDICK — Leroy T. Syms, 70, a retired roofer, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Palm Garden of Ocala.
A native of Savannah, Ga., he moved to Reddick from Charleston, S.C., in 1970. Mr. Syms was Methodist. He served in the U.S. merchant marine.
Survivors include his sons, Edward Syms, Epping, N.H., and Leroy T. Syms Jr., Georgia; sisters, JoAnn Grover, Savannah, Jeanette Martin, North Carolina, and Irene Weaver, Anthony; brother, John E. Syms, Charleston; and one grandchild.

Charles E. Carlton, 81
SUMMERFIELD — Charles "Ed" E. Carlton, 81, a retired accountant for the U.S. Coast Guard civil service, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at his home.
A native of Miami, he came to Summerfield in 1994. Mr. Carlton was Methodist, past chairman of Tamiami Methodist Church and head usher at Coral Gables Methodist Church. He also was president of the National Organization of Retired Employees, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Carlton, Summerfield; daughters, Linda D. Moring, Colorado Springs, Colo., Cathy Carlton Davis, Brooksville, Peggy Carlton Martinel, Ocoee, and Cindy Gail Kendrick, Orlando; sister, Helen Long, Tampa; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

SUMMERFIELD — Edward P. Colgan, 74, a retired mechanic for Miami-Dade County, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Miami, he came to Summerfield, 11 years ago. Mr. Colgan was Catholic, and a U.S. Navy Armed Guard veteran during World War II. OCALA — Emeroy Corey Daniel, 98, a retired legal secretary, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Springfield, Mass., she came here from Wauchula, seven years ago. Mrs. Daniel attended Grace Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her sons, the Rev. Preston C. Daniel Jr., Winter Haven, and Dr. Thomas M. Daniel, Orange Springs; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ernest H. Dinkel Sr., 93
TAMPA — Ernest H. Dinkel Sr., 93, a retired woodcarver in the antique business, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, in Tampa.
A native of Wurzburg, Germany, he lived in Ocala for 25 years before moving to Tampa in 1995. Mr. Dinkel was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran in Tampa, and was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ocala.
Survivors include his son, Ernest H. Dinkel Jr., Tampa; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline M. Dinkel.

HERNANDO — Rose Marie Kilpatrick, 93, a retired seamstress, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000.
A native of New York, she came to Hernando from Miami, 26 years ago. Mrs. Kilpatrick was Catholic.
Survivors include son, Francis E. Downes, Tyler, Texas; daughter, Anna Belle Cannon, Hernando; brother, Angelo Varisco, Dover, Del.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A native of Flint, Mich., he came here from Flushing, Mich., in 1984. Mr. Morton was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.

A native of Phillipsburg, N.J., he moved here from Gainesville, Ga., 18 years ago.
Mr. Allen was a member of Masonic Lodge 168, New Jersey; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Disabled American Veterans; and Woods and Water Sportsman Association, New Jersey. He was Catholic.
He was preceded in death by a son, Harry H. Allen III.
