OCALA — Blanche A. Arhakos, 89, a retired telephone operator for Chase Manhattan Bank, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Harborside Healthcare of Ocala.
A native of Manhattan, N.Y., she moved here from Brooklyn, N.Y., 26 years ago. Mrs. Arhakos was a member of Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arhakos; and a grandchild.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Arhakos, Ocala; sister, Violet Bianchi, Ocala; brother, Armand D'Errico, Gloversville, N.C.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

HOMOSASSA — Angil M. Caldwell, 93, a retired purchasing agent, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001.
A native of Louisburg, Mo., he moved here from Tampa in 1993. Mr. Caldwell was Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma M. Caldwell.

OCALA — Harold Cohen, 73, a retired telephone repairman for Sprint, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001.
Mr. Cohen was a native and lifelong resident of Ocala.

CITRA — Roland Leon "Red" Durden Sr., 86, a retired business owner, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation for Coventry.
A native of Darien, Ga., he moved here 60 years ago. Mr. Durden was a member of Willow Plant Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his daughters, Roleen Davis, Hawthorne, Essie M. Gordon and Loretta Galloway, both of Citra; sons, Calvin D. Durden Sr., Citra, Roland Durden Jr. and Gerald Dewese Sr., both of Ocala; 33 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

OCALA — Thomas "Tommy" Wilson Gaines, 49, a custodian for Palm Garden of Ocala, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Gainesville.
Mr. Gaines was a native and a lifelong resident of Ocala. He was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Gaines served in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1977.
Survivors include his wife, Doris T. Gaines, Reddick; son, Shavar A. Gaines, Reddick; daughters, Tawana M. Gaines, Ocala and Aisha L. CRYSTAL RIVER — Richard W. Guy, 65, a retired employee of Libbey-Owens-Ford, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital.
A native of Toledo, he moved here 16 years ago. Mr. Guy was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 2013, Crystal River. He was Lutheran.

OCALA — Thomas J. Halligan III, 45, a prep cook for Olive Garden, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at Shands in Gainesville.
A native of Keansburg, N.J., he moved here in 1991. Mr. Halligan was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was Catholic.

OCALA — Edgar A. Johnson, 85, a retired machinist for Crucible Steel, Colt Division, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Chester, W.Va., he moved here from New Port Richey, in 1993. Mr. Johnson served in the merchant marine during World War II.

LAKELAND — Oscar Sylvester "Buster" Johnson, 81, a retired maintenance truck driver, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Lakeland Hills Center.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Summerfield. He was an active member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and Mount Pelier Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson retired from Florida Southern College in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

A native of Philadelphia, she moved here from Fort Lauderdale in 1986. Mrs. Kane was a volunteer at Munroe Regional Medical Center.

A native of West New York, N.J., he moved here from Lodi, N.J., in 1974. Mr. Lo Bue was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Lo Bue, Ocala; daughter, Rosalie Lo Bue, Ocala; son, James Lo Bue, Sussex, N.J.; sisters, Jenny Bales, Caldwell, N.J., and Rose Massett, Bronx, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Garry Miller, who died on July 6, 1997.

OCALA — Ferdie J. Maurelli, 87, a retired serviceman for General Electric, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001.
A native of Babylon, N.Y., he moved here in 1976. Mr. Maurelli was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; American Legion, Babylon; and the Silver Springs Shores Bocce Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Maurelli.
