HERNANDO — Ronald Theodore Blass, 74, executive advertising owner and founder of Blass Communications, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to Hernando from Crystal River in 1992. Mr. Blass was a member of First United Methodist Church in Crystal River; Advisory Board for Industrial Development for Columbia County; Van Schaick Island Yacht Club; and Spartan Masonic Lodge No. 956 in New York. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

OCKLAWAHA — Mary L. Cowan, 86, a retired director of nursing for Port Huron General Hospital in Port Huron, Mich., died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001.
A native of Port Huron, she was a lifelong resident of Ocklawaha. Mrs. Cowan was a member of Fort King Presbyterian Church; and Ocala Art Group. She was a U.S. Army Nurse Corps captain during World War II.
