OCALA — Martha Sue Lisenby Wilds, 75, a child-support enforcement caseworker for the state of Florida, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Palatka, she moved here in 1936. Mrs. Wilds was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ocala.
Survivors include her daughter, Pattie King, Ocala; son, Gary Wilds, Cornelius, N.C.; sister, Hattie Mae Sheets, Reddick; and three grandchildren.

Bertha M. Bennett, 80
BELLEVIEW — Bertha May Bennett, 80, a retired food service supervisor for the state of Rhode Island, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Cranston, R.I., she moved here from Rhode Island in 1985. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She was Catholic.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia M. Thomas, Belleview; sons, John W. Bennett Jr., Punta Gorda and Charles H. Bennett, Farmington, Maine; sister, Kathryn Ross, Cranston; 12 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

MARION OAKS — Jeanette Carvill, 42, a homemaker, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, in Ocala.
A native of New York, she moved here from Jacksonville three years ago. Mrs. Carvill was a U.S. Army veteran. She was Christian.
Survivors include her husband, William Carvill, North Carolina; father, Efrain Guma, Dunnellon; mother, Victoria Guma, Bronx, N.Y.; daughters, Larrisa A. Garcia, Amanda J. Eck, Nicole A. Walter C. Elling, 85
BEVERLY HILLS — Walter C. Elling, 85, a retired security officer at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, died Tuesday, Jan, 23, 2001, at Surrey Place Convalescent Center in Lecanto.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved here 22 years ago. Mr. Elling retired from his job after more than 20 years of service. In retirement he was known for his intricate wood carvings. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Mr. Elling was a lifetime member of the Military Order of The Purple Heart, Charles F. Schmidt Chapter 466, Department of Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elvira Elling, Beverly Hills; and son, Conrad W. Elling, Iselin, N.J.

SUMMERFIELD — Clara M. Gore, 72, a retired newspaper carrier for the Star-Banner, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Ocala Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Sparr, she was a lifelong resident of Marion County. Mrs. Gore was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Gore.

LADY LAKE — Harold Eugene "Gene" Johnson, 74, a retired air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland, Tenn., he moved from Lebanon, Tenn., three years ago. He had served for 25 years with the FAA. Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn G. Johnson, Lady Lake; father, August Johnson, Cleveland; son, Michael E. OCALA — Helen Peterson, 82, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Wise Family Home Care.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved to Central Florida from Staten Island, N.Y., 20 years ago. Mrs. Peterson was a member of First United Methodist Church of Inverness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus Peterson, who died March 16, 1989.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Bell, Ocala; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A native of Susquehanna, Pa., he moved to Ocala in 1994, from Corning, N.Y. Mr. Cotter served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II. He was Catholic.

OCALA — James Clark Gillespie, 16, a student, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001.
A native of Gainesville, he moved to Ocala 10 years ago. Mr. Gillespie was a member of the Latin Club and received a state award for designing a computer program for the club. He also designed a Web site for the Volunteer Program for Shands at AGH and volunteered at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
