INVERNESS — John Aloia, 80, a retired grocery store buyer, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001.
A native of Bronx, N.Y., he was a winter resident from Jefferson, N.C., for 15 years. Mr. Aloia attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen C. Aloia, Inverness and Jefferson; son, Michael Aloia, Port Jefferson, N.C.; daughters, Grace Webb, Barbara Ficara, Floral City, Susan Kitson, Patricia Ocuta and Helen LeSerra, all of Jefferson; sister, Mrs. Dorothy, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Anthony T. Bruno, 80
OCALA — Anthony T. "Tony" Bruno, 80, a retired railroad maintenance engineer, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at his home.
A native of Summitt, N.J., he moved here from East Syracuse, N.Y., in 1988. Mr. Bruno was a member of Lions Club and volunteered as a troop leader for Boy Scouts of America. He was a recipient of Silver Beaver award for distinguished service to youth by National Court of Honor of the Boy Scouts of America. He was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Bruno, Ocala; son, Richard Bruno, Denver; sisters, Josephine Birofka, Martinsville, N.J., Rose Colandrea, Springfield, N.J., and Patty Abels, Hialeah; and two grandchildren.

DUNNELLON — Andrew Chobot, 90, a retired tool-and-die maker, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in Williston.
A native of Czechoslovakia, he moved here from Miami in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Chobot; and daughter, Helen Mulcahey.
Survivors include his brothers, John Chobot, Gus Chobot, George Chobot, Mike Chobot and Joe Chobot, all of Pennsylvania; sister, Stella Poicus, Pennsylvania; and one grandchild.

BALTIMORE — Devon M. David, 51, a residential child psychologist for the Maryland School of the Blind, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001.
A native of Westchester, Pa., he moved to Baltimore from Miami 20 years ago. Mr. David was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam.

DUNNELLON — William H. Ervin, 83, a retired supervisor for Rockwell International, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Citrus Memorial Hospital.
A native of Webster, Ill., he moved here from Winchester, Ky., 20 years ago. Mr. Ervin was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Citrus Springs.

HERNANDO — Leo J. Foley, 75, a retired lumber salesman, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001.
A native of Braintree, Mass., he moved here from Norwell, Mass., in 1994. Mr. Foley was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Inverness; Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club, Dunnellon; New England Seniors; International Order Luberman's of Hoo Hoo Club; and St. Scholastica Catholic Church, Lecanto. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

BELLEVIEW — Ruth J. Freeman, 76, a retired secretary, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Hickman, Ky., she moved here from Flint, Mich., in 1977. Mrs. Freeman retired from the Tennessee County Clerks office in Michigan. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, and Women of the Moose Lodge in Ocala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert "Toby" D. Freeman.
Survivors include her son, Robert L. Sawtelle, Flushing, Mich.; daughters, Pamela Van Schaick, Houston, Rosaline Stodolak, Belleview and Rebecca Hulverson, Clio, Mich.; brother, Ray Wright, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A native of Cabot, Ark., she moved here from Roland, Ark., in 1985. Mrs. Jones was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 2182, Ocala National Forest; Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 8267; and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 4216, Ocala National Forest.

MORRISTON — Helen Dean Mathews, 91, a retired laborer, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001.
A native of Cayuta, N.Y., she moved to North Central Florida in 1990. Mrs. Mathews retired from Remington Rand after 20 years of service. She was an active member of Sweet Water Ministries and Coyote Ridge Ranch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Mathews; and a son, George A. Smith.

FORT MCCOY — Thomas R. Romine, 88, a retired maintenance worker for General Motors, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Parma, Mo., he moved here from Flint, Mich., in 1973. Mr. Romine was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ocala; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fort McCoy; and past president of American Association of Retired Persons. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Helen B. Romine, Fort McCoy.
