Caesar T. Benincasa, 74
OCALA — Caesar T. Benincasa, 74, a retired heavy equipment foreman for Martin Marietta, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at home.
A native of Tompkins Cove, N.Y., he moved here from Stony Point, N.Y., in 1991. Mr. Benincasa was an active volunteer for the Florida Center for the Blind. He was U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Benincasa was Catholic.
Survivors include his daughter, Liana Ayres, Ocala; son, Peter McGuire, Rifle, Colo.; and one grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Florida Center for the Blind or Hospice of Marion County.

Helen B. Davis, 92
DUNNELLON — Helen Bryan Purnell Davis, 92, a homemaker, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in Ocala.
A native of Seaford, Del., she moved here from Miami in 1971. Mrs. Davis was a member of Dunnellon Garden Club, Rainbow River Conservation, Blue Cove Homeowners' Association and the Dunnellon Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Burton Purnell and Isidore Davis.
Survivors include her daughter, Laurlin Bedwell, Dunnellon; brother, Jack B. Bryan, Newark, Del.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Thomas G. Ivey, 75
CITRONELLE — Thomas G. Ivey, 75, a retired technician for Southern Bell, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at home.
A native of Miami, he moved here from Hialeah 21 years ago. Mr. Ivey was a member of Lions Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Edward W. Penno Post No. 4864 in Citrus Springs. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky Ivey, Citronelle; son, Michael T. Ivey, Sunrise; daughter, Linda Scrivner, Jacksonville; and four grandchildren.

William R. Hennigan, 78
OCALA — William R. Hennigan, 78, a retired engineer, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001.
A native of Hollidaysburg, Pa., he moved here from Gaithersburg, Md., in 1989. Mr. Hennigan was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Radio Relay League. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Stefania Hennigan, Ocala; son, Jozef L. Hennigan, Fairfax Station, Va.; brothers, Charles Hennigan, Altoona, Pa., and Bernard Hennigan, New Jersey; sisters, Mary P. Husband, Massachusetts and Shirley Hancheric, Altoona, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Arlene W. Kalvan, 67
OCALA — Arlene W. Kalvan, 67, a teacher for Citrus County School System, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001.
Mrs. Kalvan was a native of Baltimore. She was a member of the Ocala Art League. Mrs. Kalvan was Jewish.
Survivors include her sons, Gary Kalvan, Baltimore and Philip Kalvan, Cocoa; daughter, Eileen Kalvan, Brandon; sister, Beverly Glassman, Princeton, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Violet H. Kelsay, 90
OCALA — Violet Hazel Cravens Kelsay, 90, a retired drugstore clerk, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Marion House.
A native of Kentucky, she moved here from Columbia, Ky., in 1989. Mrs. Kelsay was a member of First Christian Church of Ocala.
She is survived by her son, Father Terence E. Kelsay, Ocala; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Grace McDaniel, 75
OCALA — Grace McDaniel, 75, a homemaker, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at home.
A native of Columbus, Mo., she moved here from Detroit two years ago. Mrs. McDaniel was Protestant.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin McDaniel, Ocala; son, Robert Summers, Detroit; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mavis Olson, 82
DUNNELLON — Mavis Olson, 82, a retired nurse, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001.
A native of Ellsworth, Iowa, she moved here from Hendersonville, Tenn., in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Olson; and son, Joe Olson.
Survivors include her sisters, Delores Quelland, Dunnellon and Betty Petersen, Saratoga, Calif.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Anna Petsonk, 92
ARTESIA, N.M. — Anna Petsonk, 92, a homemaker, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a former resident of Beverly Hills. Mrs. Petsonk was of Jewish faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Petsonk, who died Dec. 30, 1989.
Survivors include her sons, Philip Petsonk, Clearwater and Martin Petsonk, Artesia; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Charles F. Stierwalt, 85
OCALA — Charles F. Stierwalt, 85, a retired industrial property manager for the federal government, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Washington, Iowa, he moved here from Ashe County, N.C., in 1991. Mrs. Stierwalt was a member Ocala West United Methodist Church and Ocala Rotary Club. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Alliene Stierwalt, Ocala; daughter, Carolyn Thompson, Kansas City, Kan.; sons, Gerald H. Stierwalt, Charlotte, N.C., and Harold F. Stierwalt, Roaring River, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

John R. Updyke, 48
OCALA — John R. Updyke, 48, a heavy equipment operator, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Kirksville, Mo., he moved here from Fort Lauderdale five years ago. Mr. Updyke was a member of First Christian Church.
He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Updyke, Ocala; and father, Charles Updyke, Ocala.

M. Stanton Gardner, 88
OCALA — M. Stanton "Stan" Gardner, 88, a retired engineering aide for U.S. Geological Survey, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Surrey Place Convalescent Center.
A native of Griffin, Ga., he moved here from Alachua County in 1925. Mr. Gardner was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ocala, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4209; American Legion Post No. 27, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy G. Lundy.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Gardner, Ocala; daughter, Gennevee Dunn, Ocala; sister, Eleanor White, Sebring; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Laverne K. Jennings, 44
OCALA — Laverne K. Jennings, 44, a nurse's assistant, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001.
A native of Ocala, she moved back to Ocala from New London, Conn., two years ago. Mrs. Jennings was also an ordained minister. She is a member of Eighth Street Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Lance Jennings, Ocala; mother, Wilhelmena McIntear, Connecticut; father, Robert McIntear, Ocala; brothers, Mark A. McIntear, Robert McIntear II, Joseph L. McIntear, Marvin B. McIntear and Reggie McIntear, all of New London; sister, Verne McIntear, New London; stepdaughters, Shetora Jennings and Tamiya Jennings, both of Akron, Ohio; and seven step-grandchildren.

Edmond B. Ledbetter, 70
DUNNELLON — Edmond B. Ledbetter, 70, a retired manager for AT&T, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001.
A native of Clovis, N.M., he moved here from Colorado in 1998. Mr. Ledbetter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Ledbetter, Dunnellon; sons, Michael Ledbetter, Fort Collins, Colo., and John Howard, Ocala; daughters, Laura Howard, Trinidad, Colo., and Debbe Ledbetter, Fort Collins; brother, Bert Ledbetter, Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Marjorie Mize, Marina, Calif., Aileen Justice and Dora Huber, both of Farmington, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

Elizabeth T. Kingcade, 67
SUMMERFIELD — Elizabeth "Sister" Thomas Kingcade, 67, a homemaker, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
Mrs. Kingcade was a native of Ocala. She was Pentecostal.
Survivors include her daughter, Venus Hamilton, Summerfield; sisters, Teresa Nash and Dorothy Thomas, both of Ocala; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
