David Sanzeni, 81
OCALA — David Sanzeni, 81, retired business owner, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Danbury, Conn., he moved here in 1976. Mr. Sanzeni was owner and operator of Peter Pan Diner in Danbury. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen T. Sanzeni, Ocala; son, Kenneth A. Sanzeni, Danbury; stepdaughters, Patti-Jo Acri, Danbury and Sanbi Novella, Ocala; and five grandchildren.

Alfred L. Simmons Sr. 79
OCALA — Alfred L. "Punch" Simmons Sr., 79, a retired school teacher, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Simmons was a native of Reddick. He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Omega Psi Phi fraternity, NAACP, Club Charmont and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Simmons served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the recipient of the American Service, World War II Victory and Good Conduct medals.
Survivors include his wife, Edna G. Simmons, Ocala; son, Alfred L. Simmons Jr., Daytona Beach; and daughters, Norma K. Simmons, West Palm Beach and Chandra J. Simmons, Jacksonville.

Morris E. Turfryer, 82
OCALA — Morris E. Turfryer, 82, a retired house painter, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001.
A native of Amsterdam, Holland, he moved here from Miami in 1987. Mr. Turfryer was Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Renee Turfryer, Ocala; son, Gary Moore, Dixon, Calif.; daughter, Lisa Hoover, Fletcher, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

Clifford A. Watkins, 72
OCALA — Clifford A. Watkins, 72, a retired steel worker, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Port Byron, N.Y., he moved here in 1970. Mrs. Watkins was a member of First United Methodist Church and Steel Workers Union No. 1277.
Survivors include his daughters, Diane Northrup and Susanne James, both of Belleview; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dan J. Wyatt, 73
SPRING HILL — Dan J. Wyatt, 73, a retired punch press operator, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at home.
A native of Phenix City, Ala., he moved to Spring Hill from Jacksonville in 1981. Mr. Wyatt served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was Baptist.
Survivors include his sons, Sydney Wyatt, Dothan, Ala., Donald Wyatt, Spring Hill, Michael Wyatt, Wahneta, Don Wyatt Jr. and Jimmy Wyatt, both of Ocala; daughters, Diana Miller, Daytona Beach, Judy Miller, Hudson and Betty J. Wyatt, Montgomery, Ala.; and nine grandchildren.

Louise K. Avedisian, 89
BEVERLY HILLS — Louise K. Avedisian, 89, a homemaker, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at her home.
A native of New York City, she moved here from Fort Lee, N.J., in 1975. Mrs. Avedisian was a member of Beverly Hills Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary and Beverly Hills Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karnig E. Avedisian, who died on Aug. 17, 1993.
She is survived by her son, Robert Avedisian, Citrus Springs; and two grandchildren.

Joseph A. Barros, 77
OCALA — Joseph A. Barros, 77, a retired restaurant manager, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at Marion House.
A native of Boston, he moved here from New Bedford, Mass., in 1987. Mr. Barros was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Barros, Ocala; son, Stephen Barros, Boston; stepsons, Steve Santos, Seminole, Peter Santos and Robert Santos, both of Ocala; sister, Mary DeAndrade, South Carver, Mass.; and five grandchildren.

Bonnie J. Baxley, 70
OCALA — Bonnie J. Baxley, 70, a retired bookkeeper, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Lumberton, Miss., she moved here from Ormond Beach two years ago. Mrs. Baxley was a member of First Baptist Church of Belleview. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Eugene D. Baxley, Ocala; daughter, Patricia A. Martin, Vero Beach; sons, Dennis K. Baxley, Ocala and Kenneth E. Baxley, Jacksonville; sister, Virginia Priest, Ocala; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jeannette R. Brozeau, 79
OCALA — Jeannette R. Brozeau, 79, a former assembler for General Electric, died Thursday, March 8, 2001.
A native of Canada, she moved here from Upton, Mass., in 2000. Mrs. Brozeau was Catholic.
Survivors include her son, David Brozeau, Rochester, N.H.; daughters, Mary E. Marcantonio, Ocala and Gail Mathers, Tennessee; brother, Arthur Cote, Upton; sisters, Myrill Brochu, Upton, Dot Benoit and Lillian Benoit, both of Florida; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Joan B. Cavanagh, 74
INVERNESS — Joan B. Cavanagh, 74, retired, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001.
A native of Lawrence, N.Y., she moved here from Long Island, N.Y., 10 years ago. Mrs. Cavanagh was formerly employed by American Home Products.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cavanagh.
Survivors include her son, John "Tippy" Cavanagh, Marco Island; brother, Joseph Bowler Jr., Hilton Head, S.C.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Citrus County.

WILLISTON — Edna Gillis Hall, 90, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001.
A native of Newington, Ga., she moved to Williston from Hawthorne 44 years ago. Mrs. Hall was Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Hall.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Germani, Ocala; sisters, Alma Gillis and Beatrice Townsend, both of Gainesville; and three grandchildren.

Phyllis D. McBurney, 73
OCKLAWAHA — Phyllis D. McBurney, 73, a retired buyer, died Thursday, March 8, 2001.
A native of Gouverneur, N.Y., she moved here from Odgensburg, N.Y., in 1983. Mrs. McBurney retired from Corning Glass Co., after 30 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and canoeing. Mrs. McBurney was Episcopalian.
Survivors include her husband, James McBurney, Ocklawaha; son, James McBurney Jr., St. Petersburg; daughters, Frances Dean, Sarasota, Katie Moberley, Buffalo, N.Y., Margaret Baldwin, High Point, N.C., Kathy Elgelston, Oxbow, N.Y., Jane Trimlett, Kennebunk, Maine, and Nancy Trimlett, Hastings, N.Y.; and 13 grandchildren.

Maysel E. McCartney, 82
LECANTO — Maysel E. McCartney, 82, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at home, under Hospice care.
A native of Falling Rock, W.Va., she moved here from Alum Creek, W.Va., 20 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Phillip P. McCartney, who died on June 30, 1988.
Survivors include her sons, Richard McCartney, Rainbow Springs, Phillip McCartney, Oak Ridge, N.C., and Larry McCartney, Greer, S.C.; daughter, Elaine Barker, Crystal River; sisters, Ruby Rumbaugh, Spring Hill, W.Va., and Marie Kelly, St. Albans, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

HERNANDO — Rebecca Ebelink Scheaffer, 41, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Inverness.
A native of Tampa, she moved to Citrus County 11 years ago. Mrs. Scheaffer was a member of River of Life Family Fellowship in Inverness.
Survivors include her husband of 22 years, William Scheaffer Jr., Hernando; son, Steven Haywood, Tampa; father, Richard Ebelink, Tampa; mother, Norma O'Brien, Weeki Wachee; brothers, Richard Ebelink, St. Petersburg and Marc Neal, Tampa; and sisters, Roberta Honeycutt, Weeki Wachee and Bridgett Godin, Dover.
