OCALA — Karla Marie Jones, 48, a cosmetologist, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Shands University of Florida Hospital.
A native of Woodstock, Ill., she moved to Ocala in 1999 from Indianapolis. Ms. Jones was Catholic.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Clarence and Elaine Freund, Brooksville; and sister, Vickie Shell, Crystal Lake, Ill.

William T. McMann, 78
OCALA — William T. McMann, 78, a retired supervisor for New York Telephone Co., died Wednesday, June 27, 2001 in Ocala.
A native of Greenwich, Conn., he moved to Ocala in 1991 from Southbury, Conn. Mr. McMann was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II involved in the D-Day Invasion and a retired chief master sergeant of the New York National Guard. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 4781 and Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Ricker-McMann, Ocala and daughters, Margaret and Laura McMann, both of Fairfield, Conn.

Walter Mildner Sr., 76
SUMMERFIELD — Walter Mildner Sr., 76, a retired carpenter, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at his residence.
A native of Joslovitz, Czechoslovakia., he moved to Summerfield 12 years ago from Detroit. Mr. Mildner was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Herta Mildner, Summerfield; daughter, Ann Pearson, Summerfield; sons, Karl Mildner, Clinton, Mich., Josef Mildner, Roseville, Mich., Walt Mildner Jr., Haines City, Rudy Mildner, Winter Haven and Michael Mildner, Citra; sisters, Hilde Stverka, Niederrodenbach, Germany., and Maria Bastein, Belleview; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Muriel W. Owens, 76
BEAVER, Pa. — Muriel W. "Merle" Owens, 76, a retired employee of Microdyne Communication Technologies, Inc., died Saturday, June 23, 2001 in Beaver.
A native of Glenfield, Pa., he was a former resident of Ocala. Mr. Owens served in the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of Bellevue United Presbyterian Church and attended First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Joanne R. Owens, Beaver; brother, George W. Owens, Williamsburg, Va.; and sister, Jean E. Broaddus, Springfield, Va.

Peggy R. Schofield, 68
CITRA — Peggy R. Schofield, 68, a homemaker, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cross City, she was a lifelong resident of Citra. Mrs. Schofield was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dayton Schofield, Citra; sons, Stanley W. Schofield, Williston and Dennis Schofield, Ocala; daughters, Cynthia A. Baker, Citra and Shari L. Perez, Ocala; brothers, David E. Rolison, Waycross, Ga. and Randolph Rolison Jr., Hollywood; sisters, Eunice Lewis, Lindon and Laura J. Dubois, Newberry; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Hugh T. Whitehead, 69
OCALA — Hugh Tyner "Pete" Whitehead, 69, a general contractor, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001 in Ocala.
A native of Bradenton, he moved to Ocala three years ago from Miami. Mr. Whitehead was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Ocala Elks Lodge No. 286 and the Masonic Lodge No. 69, F&AM. Mr. Whitehead was Presbyterian.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Whitehead, Ocala; daughters, Wendy Heinzmann, Raleigh, N.C., and Tracy Wohl, Gainesville; son, Hugh T. Whitehead Jr., Jacksonville; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Royal Dames Cancer Research.

Kenneth Cassens, 79
OCALA — Kenneth Cassens, 79, vice president of an insurance and investment company, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
Mr. Cassens was a native of Edwardsville, Ill., and came here from LeRoy, Ill. in 1985. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Cassens was a member of 18 Holes Men's Golf Association, Ocala West United Methodist Church and Lions Club of Ocala, and was vice president of the 379th Bomb Group. He was master of ceremonies at many functions in On Top of the World and served on school and hospital boards in Illinois.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Geraldine Cassens, Ocala; son, Steve Cassens, Dallas; and daughter, Debra Sue Cassens, Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County or the Ocala West United Methodist Mortgage Fund.

Milton E. Davis, 66
ASTOR — Milton E. Davis, 66, a heavy equipment operator for the Ocala National Forest, died Thursday, June 28, 2001.
A native of Burlington Flats, N.Y., he moved to Astor in 1991 from Edmunston, N.Y. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the National Guard and a Methodist. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Davis, Astor; mother, Elizabeth W. Davis, Milford, N.Y.; son, Michael Davis, Morris, N.Y.; daughters, Nadine Wust and Michele Wust, both of Edmunston and Karen Lottridge, West Burlington, N.Y.; brother, Roger Davis, Burlington Flats; sister, Elaine Kellog, Burlington Flats; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Oliver Holman, 73
OCALA — Oliver Holman, 73, a civil engineer, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Holman was a native of Stockton, Mo., and came here from Turkey in 1986. He was involved in the construction of plants for Aerojet General, Bechtel Corp, and Foster Wheeler, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Holman was a member of the On Top of the World Golf Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Holman, Ocala; sons, Greg Holman, and Roger Holman, Midland, Mich.; sister, Dorothy Peluso, Costa Mesa, Calif.; brother, Orval Holman, Newport Beach, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

O.R. Lewis
SILVER SPRINGS — O.R. Lewis, 74, owner and operator of a mobile home supply company, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Lewis was a native of Burnside, Miss., and came here from Citra in 1956. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church, and was a Mason. Mr. Lewis served in the Merchant Marine.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Ruth Lewis, Silver Springs; sons, Richard Lewis, Gainesville, Robert Lewis and Edward Lewis, both of Ocala, and Mark Lewis, Clearwater; brother, Carroll Lewis, Ocala; and eight grandchildren.

Conrad Roschival, 95
HOMOSASSA — Conrad Roschival, 95, a retired farmer, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, in Crystal River.
Mr. Roschival was born in Hungary and came to Homosassa in 1960 from Columbia Station, Ohio. He was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Homosassa.
Survivors include nephew, Joseph L. Petrello, Brook Park, Ohio.

Walter D. Straight, 80
DUNNELLON — Walter D. Straight, 80, a community developer for Deltona Corporation, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001 in Dunnellon.
Mr. Straight was a native of Clarksburg, W.Va., he moved to Dunnellon 42 years ago from Mannington, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dunnellon.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Straight, Dunnellon; son, James Straight, Baltimore; daughters, Judy Taylor, Tallahassee and Beth Tuttle, Fort Pierce; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Charles K. Whitecar, 83
DUNNELLON — Charles K. Whitecar, 83, a lithographer, died Thursday, June 28, 2001.
Mr. Whitecar was a native of Washington, D.C., and came here from Turnersville, N.J., in 1999. He was a member of Dunnellon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his sons, C. Kenneth Whitecar, Stratford, N.J., John W. Whitecar, Sausalito, Calif., and Stephen G. Whitecar, Williamstown, N.J.; daughter, Susan E. Jones, Dunnellon; brother, Alten Whitecar, Sanibel Island; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Henry Baron, 70
OCALA — Henry "Hank" Baron, 70, a stockbroker, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Baron was a native of Chicago Heights, Ill., and came here from Park Forest, Ill., three years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Ocala Palms Men's Golf Association. Mr. Baron was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dolores "Dee" Baron, Ocala; daughters, Kathy Villalobos, Hudson, and Karen Baron, New Lenox, Ill.; brothers, Jim Baron and Jerome Baron, Chicago Heights; and two grandchildren.

Henry C. Outcault, 84
COOPERSBURG, Pa. — Henry Clark Outcault, 84, a retired salesman, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospice Center in Bethlehem, Pa.
Mr. Outcault was a native of New York City and a part-time resident of Ocala. He served in the Pacific Theater in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and, in Ocala, was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Outcault sold industrial felt for the Aetna Felt Co. and the Mechanical Felt Co.
Survivors include his son, Timothy Outcault, Springfield, Ill.; daughters, Susan DelGuerico, Pipersville, Pa., and Lysbeth Deering, Coopersburg; and eight grandchildren.
His wife, Lysbeth Musselman Outcault, preceded Mr. Outcault in death.

REDDICK — Penny Janeen Anderson, 37, a senior payroll clerk for the University of Florida, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Ocala.
A native of Grayling, Mich., she moved to Reddick from Newberry nine years ago. She was the treasurer for ABATE Motorcycle Club.
Survivors include her parents, Butch and Jean Anderson, Newberry; daughter, Jessica Murzynski, son, David Murzynski, both of Jacksonville; maternal grandmother, Marjorie Vallad, Newberry; brother, Skip Anderson, Suwannee, Ga.; and sister, April Anderson, Lakeland.

Jack W. Faunce, 71
HOMOSASSA — Jack W. Faunce, 71, a retired truck driver, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.
A native of Kokomo, Ind., he moved to Homosassa from Hawkins, Texas, 18 years ago. Mr. Faunce was Protestant, and a U.S. Marine Corp. Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife Lois Faunce, son, Shannon Faunce, both of Homosassa; daughter, Valorie Updike, Huddleston, Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dennis E. Miller, 59
HOMOSASSA — Dennis Earl Miller, 59, a funeral director and city of Crystal River employee, died Friday, June 29, 2001, in Crystal River.
A native of Boston, he moved to Homosassa from St. Petersburg, 11 years ago. Mr. Miller was Methodist, a member of Gulf Masonic Lodge No. 291 F&AM and West Citrus Elks Lodge No. 2693 and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth M. C. Miller, Homosassa; daughters, Dawn Shaffer, Tarpon Springs, Teresa Pallin, Eagle River, Wis. and Lisa Proseus, Jackson, Mich.; mother, Adrienne Miller, Lecanto; and nine grandchildren.

Harriet E. H. Neece, 87
MIFFLINBURG, Pa. — Harriet Elizabeth Hackenburg Neece, 87, a retired nursing assistant, died Saturday, June 30, 2001.
A native of Penn Township, Snyder County, Pa., she was a resident of Ocala before moving to Mifflinburg, Pa. last year. Mrs. Neece was a member of Fort King Presbyterian Church where she was a past elder and served as an usher and greeter. She also was named Presbyterian Woman of the Year, chaplain of the Sahara Club and member of the Ocala chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her daughters, Ruth H. Gelnett, Watson Town, Pa., Jeanette L. Culp, Selinsgrove, Pa., Joy E. Catherman, Mifflinburg, Pa., and Jean L. Flesch, Clarksburg, Md.; sisters Martha M. Hummel, Phyllis I. Ray and Ina E. Davis, all of St. Petersburg, S. M. Wolf, A. F. Hunnsinger and Mary A. Bolig, all of Selinsgrove; Hope D. Street, Williamsport, Pa., and Beverly R. Frank, San Antonio; brothers, M. F. Beaver, Morehead, N.C., Donald E. Beaver, Havlock, N.C., Dale I. Beaver, Selinsgrove, and Dean H. Beaver, Harrisburg, Pa.; stepsons, H. R. Neece, Gillett, Pa., and D. J. Quinn, Godfrey, Ontario, Canada; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons, Harold H. and Ray F. Hackenburg; stepson, M. T. Neece; sisters, Laura G. Predix, Toisie L. Long and Ethel A. Beaver; brothers, Harold I. and Robert J. Beaver.

Frank Santa Lucia Sr., 88
OCALA — Frank Santa Lucia Sr., 88, a retired financial analyst for the Small Business Administration, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Palm Gardens in Ocala.
A native of New York, he came to Ocala from Washington D.C., in 1978. Mr. Lucia attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, was past president of Kiwanis International, was a member of the Silver Springs Shores Country Club and was a U.S. Army, World War II veteran.
Survivors include his son, Frank Santa Lucia Jr., and sister, Marie A. Santa Lucia, both of Ocala.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Santa Lucia, and sister Camille Lucia.
