CARROLLTON, Ga. — Sadie F. Conn., 92, a homemaker, died Sunday, July 8, 2001.
A native of River Falls, Ala., she was a former resident of Ocala.
Survivors include her daughter, Marlene Becker, Wadsworth, Ohio, and Elizabeth Romine, Carrollton; sister, Gladys Gilley, Mobile, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryon L. Conn; and son, Chester B. Dunn.

INVERNESS — Henry B. DuBois, 102, retired business owner and operator, died Saturday, July 7, 2001.
A native of Colts Neck, N.J., he moved here from Freehold, N.J., in 1971. Mr. Dubois was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Point O'Woods Golf and Country Club, and past master and member of Olive Branch Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in by his wife, L. Beatrice DuBois, who died on June 3, 1981.

JACKSONVILLE — John P. Duncan, 82, retired, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at All Saints Nursing Home.
A native of Adrian, Ga., he moved to Jacksonville from Lyons, Ga., in 1951. Mr. Duncan retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve and Civil Service.
He is survived by his son, John Duncan, Ocala.

FORT McCOY — William R. Groover Sr., 81, a retired high school teacher, died Sunday, July 8, 2001.
A native of Brooks County, Ga., he moved here from Murphy, N.C., in 1999. Mr. Groover was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort McCoy and the Masons. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Georgia.

INVERNESS — Gerard W. Johnson, 78, a retired frozen food department manager, died Monday, July 9, 2001.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved here from Masonville, N.Y., 10 years ago. Mr. Johnson was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4337 and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Johnson, who died on April 17, 1998.

SUMMERFIELD — Loretta M. Lewicki, 71, a retired sales clerk, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at home.
A native of Detroit, she moved here from Highland, Mich., in 1992. Mrs. Lewicki retired from Montgomery Ward after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed ceramics.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, John Lewicki, Summerfield; sons, Gary A. Lewicki, Belleview, and Ken M. Lewicki, Fort Lauderdale; and five grandchildren.

OCALA — Richard N. Nelson, 80, a retired hospital technician, died Saturday, July 7, 2001.
A native of Morristown, N.J., he moved here from Orlando 15 years ago. Mr. Nelson was a member of American Legion in Belleview. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was Protestant.
Survivors include his sons, Reed Nelson, Summerfield, Ray Nelson and Roger Nelson, both of Ocala, Robert Nelson and Russell Nelson, both of Orlando; and six grandchildren.

MANSFIELD, Ohio — John Schampier, 83, retired, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Mansfield Memorial Homes.
Mr. Schampier was a native of Yugoslavia. He retired from Fort's Auto Electric, after 50 years of service. Mr. Schampier was a member of First Christian Church, American Legion Post No. 16, and the Masons. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga Schampier.

A native of Macy, Ind., he moved here from Peru, Ind., 10 years ago. Mr. Smith was a Shriner, past master of Lincoln Masonic Lodge, past patron of Order of the Eastern Star, and attended Lecanto Baptist Church.

SILVER SPRINGS — Nancy L. Thomas-Poitras, 69, a retired East Marion Elementary School teacher, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Johnstown, Pa., she moved here from Rockledge 33 years ago. Mrs. Thomas-Poitras was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie No. 4216. She was also a former mermaid for Weeki Wachee.

A native of Medford, Mass., she moved here from Homestead in 1981. Mrs. Wormwell was a member of Countryside Presbyterian Church of Ocala; Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 29, Ocala; and past royal matron of the Amarath in Massachusetts.

OCALA — Elizabeth M. Verdugo, 84, a retired engineering technician for Hughes Aircraft, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at Harborside Healthcare of Ocala.
A native of Union City, Conn., she moved here from Show Low, Ariz., in 1992. Mrs. Verdugo was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Association for the Advancement of Retired People and former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4781 Ladies Auxiliary in Ocala.
Survivors include her daughters, Geraldine E. Proctor, Arivaca, Ariz., Elizabeth M. Conley, Ocala, Ethelannette E. Malon-McKernan, Fairfield, Calif., and Michele Malon, Mesa, Ariz.; brother, James Kovach, Arlington, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

DUNNELLON — Theodore H. Davis, 80, former owner of Quaker Maid Kitchens of Hamilton, N.J., died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Arcadia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hamilton.
A native of Hopewell, N.J., he was a longtime winter resident of Dunnellon, from Hamilton Square, N.J. Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He won a silver medal in the Senior Olympics.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence M. Davis; and son, Michael J. Davis.

Mr. Mathews was a flight engineer for the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service, and a maintenance supervisor for Willingboro School System in New Jersey, retiring after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Ocala Flying Model Club.
