INVERNESS — Mary F. Brower, 77, a homemaker, died Friday, July 27, 2001 at Hospice of Citrus County.
A native of Trenton, N.J., she moved here from Fairhaven, N.J., in 1965. Mrs. Brower was Catholic.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth W. Brower, Inverness; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Brower, in 1983.

OCALA — James Demerest Jr., 84, a retired quality controller for Cummings Engine Manufacturing, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at his home.
A native of Chester, N.Y., he moved here from Charleston, S.C., in 1988.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Genevieve Demerest, Ocala; son, James Demerest III, Pasadena, Md.; daughter, Elaine D. Elam, Whitefish, Mont.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

OCALA — Norma K. Duda, 77, a retired teacher, died Friday July 27, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Pittsburgh, she moved here 25 years ago. Mrs. Duda was a volunteer at Hillcrest School for more than 17 years. She was a past winner of the state's Volunteer of the Year award in education and the JCPenney Educator of Ocala award. She also loved music and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Henry R. Duda, Ocala; son, Gary R. Duda, Weirton, W.Va.; sister, Gail L. Jacobs, Ocala; and two grandchildren.

A native of Norwich, Conn., she moved here from Gales Ferry, Conn., in 1987. She was a member of Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where she was a member of the women's guild. She was an avid reader.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Enright, Citrus Springs.

OCALA — James W. Hannan, 67, a retired European Maintenance Manager for Emery Worldwide Airlines in Brussels, Belgium, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at his residence.
A native of Williamstown, W.Va., he moved here from Hollywood in 1972.
Mr. Hannan was a U.S. Army veteran and a Mason. He was of Methodist faith and loved travel and aviation.

A native of Ocala, Mrs. Proctor was a lifelong Marion County resident. She was a member of Pedro Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Emma P. Robinson, Summerfield; son, John H. Proctor, Pedro; sister, Catherine Paige, The Villages; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

OCALA — Raymond T. Shay, 90, a retired farm manager, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Sylvia's House.
A native of Layton, N.J., he moved here in 1969. A member of First Presbyterian Church of Ocala, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served under General Patton.
Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Austin, Plainfield, Ind., Barbara Salness, Bradenton, and Grace Scheidegger, Bellevue, Wash.; sons, Bruce Guttridge, Longmont, Colo., and William Shay, Newark, N.J.; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A native of Boonton, N.J., she moved to Lady Lake in 1987 from Ocala. Mrs. Bonnet was a lifetime member of the National Sokol Lodge No. 32 and a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her nephew, Michael J. Schunk, Morris Township, N.J.

OCALA — Clifford Brastad, 90, a retired factory worker for Milling Machine Company, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Palm Gardens of Ocala Nursing Home.
A native of Minneapolis, he moved to Ocala in 1983 from Rockford, Ill. Mr. Brastad was a member of the Ocala Moose Lodge. He wrote and played country music and was an avid bowler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Brastad, son, Larry Brastad and two grandchildren, Kenneth and Vincent Brastad.
Survivors include his sister, Vivian Gaylord, Princeton, Minn.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A native of Hartford, Conn., he moved to Ocala 12 years ago from Vernon, Conn. Mr. Dion was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
