OCALA — Sue A. Jansen, a retired secretary for a stock brokerage company, died Friday, August 31, 2001, at Estelle's House.
A native of East Liverpool, Ohio, she came here from St. Louis, Mo., in 1983.
Survivors include a son, Don Jansen of Ocala, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Kevariont'e Johnson, infant
OCALA — Kevariont'e Johnson, an infant, died Thursday, August 30, 2001, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Survivors include his mother, Krystal Jackson; father, Kevin Johnson; great-grandmother, Bettye Graham; maternal grandmother, Cawanza Jones; and paternal grandmother, Shedetta Bagley, all of Ocala.

Robert S. MacDonald, 81
OCALA — Robert S. MacDonald, 81, a retired director of purchasing for Alma Products for 40 years, died Saturday, September 1 at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Onaway, Mich., Mr. MacDonald moved here 15 years ago from Alma, Mich. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ocala and was a life member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Leona I. MacDonald; a son, Robert Scott MacDonald, Saint Louis, Mich.; a daughter, Carol Ann Antuna, Novi, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.

Mary L. Watkins, 75
MINE HILL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Mary L. Burke Watkins, 75, a homemaker, died Saturday, August 25, 2001, at the Denville Campus of St. Clare's Hospital, following a long illness.
A native of Scranton, Pa., she lived in Newark before moving to Mine Hill 44 years ago. Mrs. Watkins was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved animals and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Robert J. Watkins Sr.; son, Robert J. Watkins Jr., Ocala; daughter, De "Diane" L. Sellitto, Mine Hill; and three grandchildren.

Lillian Bell Young, 72
OCALA — Lillian Bell Young, 72, a retired secretary, died Wednesday, August 29, 2001.
A native of Portage, N.Y., Mrs. Young lived most of her life in Dansville, N.Y., and moved here from Hornell, N.Y., in 1986. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Quinten K. Young, Ocala; sons, Douglas Young, Chesapeake, Va., and Jerry Young, Scotia, N.Y.; brother, Clifford Clark, Sherman, Conn.; sister, Margaret Redmond, Nunda, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

Roy Daniel Pugh, 89
BELLEVIEW — Roy Daniel Pugh, 89, the retired co-owner of a dairy cow sales business, died Saturday, September 1, 2001 at his home.
A native of Steuben, N.Y., Mr. Pugh came here from Holland Patent, N.Y., in 1992. He was Methodist and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his companion of 16 years, Rusty Edwards of Belleview; a brother, Percy Pugh, Edmeston, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Salvatore Santoro, 83
OCALA — Salvatore "Sam" Santoro, 83, a retired material handler for Bridgeport Fittings Company, died Saturday, September 1, 2001 at Sylvia's House.
Mr. Santoro was born in Bridgeport, Conn. and moved here in 1980. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Candler; was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus in Belleview; belonged to the Silver Springs Shores Italian American Club; the Sons of Italy and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4493 in Candler. He also belonged to the Silver Springs Shores Democratic Club, the Swingers Club, AARP, the New York Club and the Men's Bocce Club.
Mr. Santoro is survived by his wife of 53 years, Fannie Santoro, Ocala; son, Louis Santoro, West Redding, Conn.; daughter, Dolores Badamo, Ansonia, Conn.; sisters, Freida Genova, Trumbull, Con., Florence Falcone, Jean Natalazio and Ada DeLuca, all of Bridgeport, Conn.; and Rose McDaniel, Stratford, Conn.; five grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.

OCALA — Beatrix Mary Spran, 68, a bookkeeper in the construction industry, died Friday, August 31, 2001 at her home.
A native of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Spran moved here from Chicago in 1997. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Illinois Club in Oak Run.
Mrs. Spran is survived by her husband, James A. Spran, Ocala; daughters, Cheryl Ann Spran, Berwyn, Ill., and Lora Spran, Orlando; son, Robert Spran, Lemont, Ill., brother, Joseph Kompare, Lyons, Ill.

REDDICK — Phyllis Michelle "Mickey" Watson, 46, a classification specialist for the state prison system, died Saturday, September 1, 2001 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.
Mrs. Watson was a lifelong resident of Ocala. She attended the Living Waters Worship Center.
Survivors include her mother Loyotte Watson, Citra; father, Gary Watson, Citra; sister, Debbie Miller, Citra; brother, Greg Watson, Citra; three nieces; and two nephews.

Stan Witower, 87
OCALA — Stan Witower, 87, a retired electronics engineer, died Sunday, September 2, 2001.
A native of Scranton, Pa., Mr. Witower moved here in 1984 from Scranton. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and his pasttimes included amateur radio and sailing.
Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Cope Witower, Ocala; son, Stephen Witowski, Summerfield; daughters, Carol Jordan, Ocala, Margaret Bussard, Seattle, Wash., and Ellen Day, Athens, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ruth Blakely, 82
CRYSTAL RIVER — Ruth Elizabeth Blakely, 82, owner of Blakely Upholstery in Lecanto, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in Crystal River.
A native of Arkport, N.Y., she moved to Crystal River from Tampa in 1974. She enjoyed crewel embroidery and playing the organ.
She is survived by her husband, Howard William Blakely, Crystal River; son, Glen Arnold Blakely, Jensen Beach; daughter, Lois Post, Lecanto; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Richard J. Lee, 74
FRUITLAND PARK — Richard J. Lee, 74, a music store owner, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, in Fruitland Park.
A native of Andover, Ohio, he moved to Fruitland Park in 1992. He was the owner of Brunswick Music Center in Brunswick, Ohio and was affiliated with Bondz Music Store in Wildwood. He was a music instructor and also a scholar and facilitator of metaphysical studies. He was a member of Unity Church in Akron, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Janice K. Lee, Fruitland Park; son, Thomas Lee, Cleveland; stepsons, Kevin Lips, New Mexico, John Lips, David Lips, Richard Lips, and Christopher Lips, all of Cleveland, James Lips, Strongville, Ohio, and Jason Lips, Savannah, Ga; stepdaughters, Terri Chaput, North Olmstead, Ohio, Beth Beckler, Wooster, Ohio, Darlene Lamon, Jennifer Lips and Julie Lips, all of Parma, Ohio, Deanna Dotson, Valley City, Ohio, and Lori Russell, Ocala; and 10 grandchildren.

Doris M. Lowrey, 74
BELLEVIEW — Doris M. Lowrey, 74, owner of an assisted living facility in Pennsylvania, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at Sylvia's House.
A native of West Salisbury, Penn., she moved to Belleview from Somerset, Penn., in 1987. She was Methodist. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Ben and Johnny Lowrey, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Lowrey and Kenneth Lowrey, both of Somerset, Penn.; daughter, Jane Masse, Belleview; brother, James Robert Holler, West Salisbury, Penn.; sister, Jane Cochrane, Floral City; and eight grandchildren.

SARASOTA — James E. O'Brien, 73, a retired florist, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, in Sarasota.
A native of Bronx, N.Y., he moved to Sarasota from Ocala in 1998. He was an artist and coin collector. He was Catholic.
He is survived by his daughter, Patti Ann Bisanzo, Brewster, N.Y.; son, Richard J. O'Brien, Dallas; and four grandchildren.

Rose Schweiger, 83
HOMOSASSA — Rose Schweiger, 83, a homemaker, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River.
A native of Manhattan, N.Y., she moved to Homosassa from New Hyde Park, N.Y., six years ago. She was a volunteer at the Children's Burn Center at Nassau Hospital in Mineola, N.Y. She was a member of the New Hyde Park Jewish Community Center and B'Nai Brith of New Hyde Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Schweiger; and a son, Howard Schweiger.
She is survived by her daughters, Bernice Schweiger-Neuman, Homosassa, and Bonnie Schweiger-Morris, Jensen Beach; sons, Morton Schweiger, Homosassa, and Allan Schweiger, Kissimmee; sister, Miriam Rubin, Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A native of Jacksonville, he moved here from Tampa in 1994. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of North Central Baptist Church, Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Stokes, Ocala; mother, JoAnn Stokes, Gainesville; son, Justin Stokes, St. Augustine; daughter, Amy Stokes, Ocala; and brothers, James Stokes and Thomas Stokes, both of Gainesville.

DEXTER, MICH. -- Herman Theodore Ashley, 85, a retired foreman, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001.
A native of Detroit, he was a former resident of Belleview.
Survivors include his wife, Jean M. Ashley, Dexter; daughter, Mary Ellen Douglass, Waldorf, Md.; sons, Richard Ashley, Dexter and John Ashley, Bristol, Ind.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes C. Barnes, Ocala; sisters, Cleo B. Hickman, Ooltewah, Tenn., and Margot G. Cornwell, Arlington, Va.; and brother, Charles W. Barnes, St. Petersburg.
