Keith E. Brotherton, 90
BELLEVIEW — Keith E. Brotherton, 90, a retired machinist for Eaton Manufacturing, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Timber Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Bloomingdale, Mich., he moved here from Vicksburg, Mich., in 1970. Mr. Brotherton was a member of American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Nesbeth Brotherton, Belleview; daughter, Jacqueline K. Streeter, Kalamazoo, Mich.; sister, Bernice Strong, Allegan, Mich.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Olive T. Brown, 90
REDDICK — Olive T. Brown, 90, a homemaker, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at Oakhurst Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Roxbury, Mass., she moved here from Port Charlotte in 1999. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3296. She was Anglican Catholic.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara "Bobbi" Rattee, Ocala; son, Harry Brown Jr., Leesburg; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Neva S. Chevis, 86
LECANTO — Neva S. Chevis, 86, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001.
A native of Tacoma, Wash., she moved here from Tampa in 1948. Mrs. Chevis was a member of United Methodist Church of Floral City.
Survivors include her son, James E. Chevis, Ozello; and sister, Marguerite R. Strand, San Diego.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Chevis.

Ana Combs, 87
ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Ana Combs, 87, a retired school teacher, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital.
A native of Puerto Rico, she moved to Attleboro from Ocala in 1997.
Survivors include her daughter, Lillian M. Stinson, South Attleboro; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Combs.

Edna E. Farrell, 97
DUNNELLON — Edna Elizabeth Farrell, 97, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, in Gainesville.
A native of Silver Springs, she moved to Dunnellon from Hernando 50 years ago.
Survivors include her sister, Cora L. Durant, Gainesville; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nevil T. Farrell; and son, Wilburn C. Farrell.

Dale E. Gordner, 55
DUNNELLON — Dale E. Gordner, 55, a dairy foreman, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Williamsport, Pa., he moved here from Elkland, Pa., a short time ago. Mr. Gordner enjoyed golf and working on cars. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Gordner, Belleview; mother, Marian Butler, Nelson, Pa.; sons, Dale S. Gordner, Dunnellon, and Jeff Dowling, Williamsport; daughters, Jamie L. Gordner, Dunnellon, Donnie Lynn Dellinger, Summerfield, Teresa Applegate and Danielle Myers, both of Belleview; and four grandchildren.

Douglas E. Haselton, 69
BELLEVIEW — Douglas E. Haselton, 69, a delivery truck driver for Cushman Bakery, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Greenfield, Mass., he moved here 10 years ago. Mr. Haselton served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Haselton, Belleview; daughters, Dianna Samanie, Ocala, and Donna Moon, Belleview; sons, David Haselton, Belleview, and Douglas E. Haselton Jr., Greenfield; sisters, Shelia Graves, Jackie Weir and Elaine McDonough, all of Greenfield; and five grandchildren.

Elizabeth S. Hunt, 81
REDDICK — Elizabeth Stevens Hunt, 81, a self-employed horse breeder, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at home.
A native of Warren, Ohio, she moved here from Bal Harbour in 1978. Mrs. Hunt was owner of Horsefeathers Farm. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary J. Hunt, Reddick; son, William M. Hunt, New York; sister, Mary S. Whaley, Wilmington, N.C.; brother, William H. Stevens Jr., Key West and Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Hunt Jr.

Betty J. Lafferty, 76
OCALA — Betty J. Lafferty, 76, a retired floral designer for Ocala Flower Shop, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at home.
A native of Detroit, she moved here from Rochester, Mich., in 1978. Mrs. Lafferty was a Marion County Senior Service volunteer for 13 years. She was Roman Catholic.
Survivors include her sons, Bernard J. Lafferty, Ocala, and Raymond Lafferty, Warren, Mich.; daughter, Margaret A. Lafferty, Ocala; sister, May Ketchem, Lake Orion, Mich.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Lafferty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Jonathan C. McNeil, 76
OCALA — Jonathan C. McNeil, 76, a retired lieutenant for Federal Protection Service, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Boston, he moved here from Exeter, N.H., 14 years ago. Mr. McNeil was an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, historian for Marion County Homeless Coalition, and member of Greater Florida Symphony and Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his daughter, Christine Quonce, Syracuse, N.Y.; sister, Millie Lott, Boston; companion, Fe Pattison, Ocala; and three grandchildren.

Arlene Parks, 50
HOUSTON — Arlene Parks, 50, disabled, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
A native of Albany, Ga., she moved to Houston from Ocala seven years ago. Mrs. Parks was Baptist.
Survivors include her twin sister, Jolene Delafunte, Houston; and brothers, Leroy Parks Jr., Homosassa, and Charles D. Parks, Ocala.

Mercedes Rodriguez, 87
OCALA — Mercedes Rodriguez, 87, a homemaker, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at New Horizon Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Aibonito, Puerto Rico, she moved here in 1997. Mrs. Rodriguez was a member of San Jose Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son, Robert Rodriguez, Dunnellon; sisters, Antonia Rodriguez, Coral Springs, and Monserat Rodriguez, Cidra, Puerto Rico; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carnelo Rodriguez; and daughter, Miriam Rodriguez.

Robert E. Rooks, 78
INVERNESS — Robert E. Rooks, 78, a cattle rancher, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, in Birmingham, Ala.
A native of Istachatta, he was a longtime resident of Citrus County. Mr. Rooks was a member of Church of Christ, Citrus County Cattlemen's Association and American Soil Conservation Services.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Juanita M. Rooks, Inverness; son, LeRoy L. Rooks, Safford, Ala.; daughters, Irma Leydig, Plano, Texas, Ellen Schneider and Priscilla Walker, both of Floral City; brother, Herschel Rooks, Madison; sisters, Faye Johnson, Brandon, and Bertha M. Landrum, Lake Lindsey; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Hannah Thomas, who died July 19, 1999.

Eva S. Wilkinson, 98
CITRA — Eva S. Wilkinson, 98, a homemaker, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at New Horizon Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Eureka, she moved to Citra from Jacksonville in 1961. Mrs. Wilkinson was a member of Cross Creek Baptist Church and a charter member of Garden Club in Jacksonville.
She is survived by her sister, Adelaide Pons, Citra.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wilkinson.

Ray T. Wittman, 71
OCALA — Ray T. Wittman, 71, a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at home.
A native of Baltimore, he moved here from Key West in 1981. Mr. Wittman served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He was Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Wittman, Ocala; son, Ray Wittman, Ramrod Key; daughter, Kim Shaver, Austin, Texas; mother, Agnes Sees, Pasadena, Md.; stepson, Greg Trent, Orlando; and one grandchild.

She is survived by her sister, Mildred DeJoy, Ocala.

OCALA — Ronald C. Bailey, 68, a retired restaurant maintenance foreman, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Waco, Ga., he moved here from Dade County in 1971. Mr. Bailey was Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Fay M. Bailey, Ocala; son, Brian E. Bailey, Ocala; daughter, Jeannie M. Bailey, Ocala; and sisters, Edna Hannah, Bremen, Ga., Eva Terrell and Dora Terrell, both of Carrollton, Ga.

Mary C. Dante, 79
DAYTONA BEACH — Mary Calhoun Dante, 79, a retired nurse, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at Manor of the Green.
A native of Baltimore, she moved to Daytona Beach from Palatka in 1970. Mrs. Dante served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. She was Catholic.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Bishop, Ocala; and caregiver, Thomas A. FrieberG, Port Orange.

Louann H. Dean, 74
OCALA — Louann H. Dean, 74, a retired 40-year sales representative for Tupperware, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at home.
A native of Bay City, Mich., she moved here in 1984. Mrs. Dean was a Star-Banner Neighbors correspondent for six years, writing about the Rolling Greens community. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church; member of Women of the Moose, Silver Springs Shores; and Marathon Bridge Club.
Survivors include her husband, Harry W. Dean, Ocala; sons, Scott H. Dean, Adrian, Mich., and Clark J. Dean, Bay City; daughters, Barbara C. Dean, Ocala and Susan E. Deshaw, Kawkawlin, Mich.; stepdaughter, Linda K. Dean, Lake Elsinore, Calif.; brother, Daryl K. Young, Bay City; sister, Patricia J. Bowsher, Bay City; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Kenneth J. Fagan, 70
DUNNELLON — Kenneth Joseph Fagan, 70, a photographer, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Oakwood Nursing Center.
A native of Stratford, Conn., he moved here 10 years ago. Mr. Fagan was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. He attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Mr. Fagan was Catholic.
Survivors include his daughter, Deanna Kesler, Dunnellon; son, David Brown, Palm Harbor; sister, Agnes Fagan, New Zealand; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
