OCALA — Mabel Elizabeth Evans, 86, a retired bookkeeper, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at TimberRidge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Medford, Mass., she moved to Ocala in 1998 from Bradenton. She was Protestant.
Survivors include her niece, Barbara T. Coffin, Ocala; and nephew, Kenneth B. Tucker, New York.

Kenneth L. Flax Jr., 53
PORTSMOUTH, VA. — Kenneth Leroy Flax Jr., 53, a self-employed laborer, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in Portsmouth, Va.
He was a native of Ocala. Mr. Flax was Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Flax, Portsmouth; daughter, Kim S. Flax, Ocala; son, Terrance Smith, St. Petersburg; sisters, Gloria White, Ocala, Lesia Beard, Fort McCoy, and Wanda Carsarez, Brownsville, Texas.; and brothers, Allen Dukes and Andre Williams, both of Ocala.

A native of Clearwater, she was a long-time resident of McIntosh. Ms. Hatcher was Baptist.
Survivors include her brothers, Lucius Simpson Jr., Clearwater, and John Miller, Largo; and sister, Pamela Simpson, Clearwater.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael MacDougall.
Survivors include her son, Robert MacDougall, San Angelo, Texas.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

GRACEVILLE — Jeromy Hunter Leary, 20, a student at Baptist College of Florida, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, in Marianna.
A native of Ocala, he moved to Graceville in 1999. Mr. Leary was a member of the YMCA of Ocala. He was a graduate of Central Florida Community College and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Amanda T. Leary, Graceville; parents, Howard and Trina Leary, Ocala; sister, Cynthia L. Myerick, Ocala; brother, Howard S. Leary II., Chicago; and grandparents, Robert and Marion S. Ward, Ocala.

OCALA — Kenneth Rogers, 43, a cabinet maker, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001.
A native of Redwood City, Calif., he moved to Ocala in 1991 from Bolder City, Nev. Mr. Rogers was an avid singer and reader.
Survivors include his brothers, Brian Rogers and Allen Rogers, both of Belleview, Douglas Rogers, Las Vegas, and Phillip Rogers, San Francisco; and sister, Valarie Hernadez, Redwood City.

OCALA — Victoria A. Rowlette, 76, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001.
A native of Louisville, Ky., she moved to Ocala in 1982 from Lincolnshire, Ill.
Survivors include her son, John Rowlette, Hawthorne Woods, Ill.; daughters, Barbara LaMorticella, Portland, Ore., Susan Schroeder, Granger, Ind., Sharon Henry, Clarkston, Mich., Rochelle Rowlette, Washington D.C., and Pam Feldman, Ocala; brother, Clifford Ashby, Pollock, La.; sister, Gladys Bass, Madison, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Burton H. Smith, 81
OCALA — Burton Hazen Smith, 81, a retired maintenance worker for General Electric, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at his residence.
A native of Springfield, Mass., he moved to Ocala 15 years ago from St. Petersburg. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and an avid fisherman and hunter. He was Christian.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Myrtle Smith, Ocala; sons, Lyle A. Smith, New Port Richey, Loren A. Smith, Baltimore, and Wayne E. Smith, St. Petersburg; daughters, Lucille A. Wilson and Darlene Sandra Trietch, both of Hernando; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

OCALA — Lawrence "Larry" E. White, 93, a retired contractor for L.E. White Trucking, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001.
A native of Indiana, he moved to Ocala in 1986 from Inverness. Mr. White was a charter member of Ocala West Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve White, Ocala; daughters, Katherine Walker, Bluffton, Ind., Darlene Barlett, Angola, Ind., and Mary L. Lauer, Bloomfield, N.J.; son, James Rush, Lynnwood, Wash.; sister, Dorothy Huffman, Goshen, Ind.; and 16 grandchildren.

LADY LAKE — William J. Yeager, 80, a retired owner/operator of William J. Yeager and Sons Roofing Co., died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., he moved to Lady Lake in 1995 from Langhorne, Pa. Mr. Yeager was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II; member of VFW Post No. 8083; Moose Lodge No. 1014; and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 4251. He was a member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen G. Yeager, Lady Lake; sons, William J. Yeager Jr. and John A. Yeager, both of Bensalem, Pa., Joseph M. Yeager Swedesboro, N.J., David A. A native of Banks, Ala., he moved here from Miami in 1982. Mr. Daniels was an active member of First Baptist Church of Inverness and a member of Eugene Quinn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4337.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou Daniels, Inverness; son, the Rev. David A. Daniels, Uruguay; daughter, Mary C. Trucano, Inverness; sister, Mary Henderson, Mount Dora; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Tom Durkin.
