OCALA — Virgil H. Metcalf, 90, a retired ironworker, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Ohio, he moved here from Fort Myers in 1993. Mr. Metcalf retired from American Bridge Company. He was Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Mary R. OCALA — Clyde C. Mulkey, 74, a retired business owner, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Mulkey was a native and a lifelong resident of Ocala. He owned Mulkey Tile and Terrazzo Co., Clyde C. Mulkey Co., and Mulkey U-Pick Farms. Mr. Mulkey was a member of Florida Sheriffs Association, Woodmen of the World, National Riflemen Association, National Federation of Independent Businesses, and Federal Aviation Association. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Paula M. Mulkey, Ocala; daughters, Marion S. McCoy, Harriman, Tenn., Debra K. King, Middleburg, and Julie P. DUNNELLON — Robert Bruce Oberg Sr., 64, a retired auto mechanic, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, in Ocala.
A native of Greenfield, Mass., he moved here from Pompano Beach three years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Oberg, Dunnellon; son, Robert Bruce Oberg Jr., Hayesville, N.C.; daughters, Sherri Oberg-Mimnagh, Dunnellon, Shelley Oberg, Pompano, Shawna Oberg, Boynton Beach, and Shannon Oberg, Crystal River; half brothers, Gary Oberg, New Hampshire, and Chester Oberg, Massachusetts; stepmother, Estelle Oberg, Maine; and 13 grandchildren.

OCALA — Richard G. Schmidt, 72, a retired sand laboratory technician for the foundry industry in Minnesota, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of St. Cloud, Minn., he moved here from Brooksville in 1996. Mr. Schmidt was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4781, Oak Run. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Delories P. Schmidt, Ocala; sons, Robert Schmidt, Oakdale, Minn., and Gary R. LAKE PANASOFFKEE — Benjamin Franklin Weedon Jr., 73, a retired mechanical engineer for Litton Industries, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, in Wildwood.
A native of Wheaton, Md., he moved here from Baltimore in 1987. Mr. Weedon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his sons, Scott Weedon, College Park, Md., Mark Weedon, Lake Panasoffkee, Eric Weedon, Gaithersburg, Md., and Jeff Weedon, Florida; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Violet Frampton Weedon.

SUMMERFIELD — Lillian E. Zsomboran, 78, a homemaker, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001.
A native of Woodbridge, N.J., she moved here from Toms River, N.J., in 1968. Mrs. Zsomboran was Catholic.
Survivors include her daughter, Lillian Johnson, Summerfield; sons, Dasher A. Zsomboran, Long Branch, N.J., and Joseph P. Zsomboran Jr., Jacksonville Beach; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Peter Zsomboran.

James S. Akers, 76
SUMMERFIELD — James S. Akers, 76, a retired school teacher and coach, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Ocala.
Mr. Akers served for 25 years on the faculty at Princeton High School, Evandale, Ohio, and for 10 years at the Florida Air Academy in Plantation. After his retirement he worked in the garden shop at K-Mart in Belleview.
A native of Honaker, Va., he came here from Plantation in 1988.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and an active alumnus of Findlay College in Ohio. He was Baptist.
Mr. Akers is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia S. Akers of Summerfield; daughters, Sheila Lustig, Philadelphia, Becky Caparco, Coral Springs, Jamie Stone, Acworth, Ga.; brother, W.E. Akers, Cincinnati; sisters, Elizabeth Fields, Charlotte, N.C., and Winifred Denny, Cincinnati; and seven grandchildren.

SUMMERFIELD — George C. Elmberger, 90, a retired negotiator for the American Can Company, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001.
Mr. Elmberger was a native of Chicago. He moved to Summerfield in 1979 from Elmhurst, Ill. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Elmberger, Summerfield; daughter Joan C. Francis, Aurora, Ill.; stepdaughter, Karyn Cauthen, Leesburg; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

OCALA — Josephine D. Patchen, 73, a retired customer service representative for Burdines with 12 years of service, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, in Ocala.
A native of Norwalk, Conn., Mrs. Patchen moved to Ocala in 1976. She was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, John F. Patchen Jr. on Feb. 24, 1994.
Survivors include her son, John F. Patchen III of Ocala; brother, Robert Audino, Trumbull, Conn.; and three grandchildren.

A native of Caroline County, Va., Mrs. Scott moved here from Washington, D.C. two years ago. She was Pentecostal and attended The Rock Family Church.

OCALA — Linda Louise Toth, 39, general merchandise manager for Winn-Dixie and an employee of Century 21 in Belleview, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House, Ocala.
A native of Philadelphia, she came here 12 years ago from Edgewater Park, N.J.
She was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Belleview and the Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Nortia Evans, and stepfather, George Evans, Seminole; her father, Charles J. Hasher, and stepmother, Rose Hasher of Edgewater Park; daughters, Amanda Ratcliff and Amber Toth, both of Ocala; son, Aaron Toth, Ocala; sister, Cynthia Hasher, Clearwater; brothers, Alan Hasher, Edgewater Park, N.J., and Michael Mansfield, Burlington, N.J., half brother, Steven Hasher, Edgewater Park; and two stepsisters.
