Joseph W. Brown, 81
DUNNELLON — Joseph W. Brown, 81, a retired service manager, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001.
A native of East Bend, N.C., he moved here from Largo in 1985. Mr. Brown retired from Burroughs Corp. after 40 years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dunnellon and a member of Civitan Club. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Pearl B. Brown, Dunnellon; daughter, Barbara Hauberg, Painesville, Ohio; sisters, Nina Morris, Yadkinville, N.C., and Carlyn Groce, Winston Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry L. Brown.

Lorraine H. Constantino, 73
INVERNESS — Lorraine Helen Constantino, 73, a homemaker, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001.
A native of Medford, Mass., she moved here from Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1977. Mrs. Constantino was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the Resurrection Church.
Survivors include her sons, Frederick T. Constantino and Francis J. Constantino, both of Brooklyn; daughter, Paulette Constantino, Brooklyn; brother, William Clark, Brooklyn; and sister, Margaret Chandler, Brooklyn.

DUNNELLON — Andre Fortin, 67, a business owner, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001.
A native of Quebec City, Canada, he moved here from Gadsden, Ala., in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Fortin, Dunnellon; daughters, Darlene Anderson, Belleview, Suzanna Palka, Dunnellon, and Desiree Deerman, Gadsden; brother, Philip Fortin, Quebec City; and two grandchildren.

Rose Hays, 83
OCALA — Rose Hays, 83, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001.
A native of Detroit, she moved here from Fort Pierce in 1990.
Survivors include her daughter, Ruth A. Prchal, Naiperville, Ill.; sisters, Virginia Clark, Ocala, Ann Sheffield, Tampa, Josephine Bremner, Fort Lauderdale, Frances Carrier, Nancy Pistorio and Mary Conigliaro, all of Michigan; and brother, Vincent Costa, Michigan; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County or the American Cancer Society.

OCALA — Ava M. Johnson, 77, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at home.
A native of Wellington, Kan., she moved here from Alexandria, Va., in 1990. Mrs. Johnson was Anglican.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Johnson, Ocala; daughter, Dianna Campagna, Alexandria; and sister, Arliss B. Call, Denver.

Irene E. Guimond Kendall, 61
SUMMERFIELD — Irene Elizabeth Guimond Kendall, 61, a retired executive assistant, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in Punta Gorda.
A native of St. John, New Brunswick, she moved here from Scarborough, Maine. Mrs. Kendall retired from Unum Insurance Co., after 24 years.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Richard J. "Jerry" Kendall, Summerfield; mother, Alma Guimond, Summerfield; daughter, Rebecca Kendall, New York City; sons, Richard L. Kendall, Westwood, Mass., and Jeremy J. Kendall, South Portland, Maine; sister, Jeannine Smith, Summerfield; brother, Kenneth Guimond, South Freeport, Maine; and two grandchildren.

William L. Mattern Jr., 74
DUNNELLON — William "Bill" L. Mattern Jr., 74, a retired business owner, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at home.
A native of Philadelphia, he moved here from St. Petersburg six years ago. Mr. Mattern served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Alice E. Mattern, Dunnellon; son, William L. Mattern, Cocoa; daughter, Debra Elizabeth Durant, Ocala; sister, Myrtle Bussinger, St. Petersburg; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Dolores M. Moor, 66
OCALA — Dolores M. Moor, 66, a retired secretary, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
A native of Marlboro, Ohio, she moved here from Doylestown, Pa., in 1997. Mrs. Moor retired from Bucks County Sheriff's Department. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Order of the Eastern Star, and Women of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Nelson E. Moor, Ocala; son, Jeffery S. Moor, Pitman, Pa.; daughter, Vickie L. Moor, Schwenksville, Pa.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ernie B. Patrick, 91
SUMMERFIELD — Ernie B. Patrick, 91, a retired carpenter, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001.
Mr. Patrick was a native of Morgan County, Ky. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Ocala.
He is survived by his daughter, Dollie Lynch, Summerfield; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

OCALA — Ben Pettway, 83, a retired business owner, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001.
A native of Mobile, Ala., he moved here from Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1986. Mr. Pettway was a member of Silver Springs Shores Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Angelita E. Pettway, Ocala; daughters, Sharon Pettway, Gainesville, Cynthia Shivers, Fort Lauderdale, Stephanie Klipple, Beverly Hills, and Patricia Padeo, Philippines; brother, Kyser Mickels, New York City; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

HOMOSASSA — Melvin L. Solar, 66, a concrete mason, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Crystal River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Wolverine, Mich., he moved here from Rockford, Mich., 19 years ago. Mr. Solar served in the U.S. Army. He was Protestant.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Solar, and Kelley Lee, both of Crystal River; sons, Melvin Solar Jr., Homosassa, and Jerry Solar, Crystal River; and eight grandchildren.

Laurette M. Swenson, 86
WILDWOOD — Laurette M. Swenson, 86, a retired secretary, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Sanford, Maine.
A native of Sanford, she moved here 1978. Mrs. Swenson retired from Mobil Oil, after 35 years. She was a member of Bellevue Golf Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Sanders, Saugus, Mass.; sister, Dorothy V. Kraus, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Esther N. Abramowitz, 80
CITRUS SPRINGS — Esther N. Abramowitz, 80, a retired bookkeeper, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001.
A native of Norway, she moved here from Endicott, N.Y., in 1984. Mrs. Abramowitz was a member of American Association of Retired Persons. She was Jewish.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Abramowitz, Citrus Springs; son, Jerry S. Kritzberg, Valley Stream, N.Y.; daughters, Beverly Polistine, Hyde Park, N.Y., and Jacklynn Ackermann, Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A native of Lamontville, N.Y., she moved here from Richmond, Va., in 1991. Mrs. Alsdorf was Methodist.
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy A. Russell, Inverness; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Alsdorf.

Myrtle I. Crosby, 83
OCALA — Myrtle Inez Crosby, 83, a retired hostess and waitress, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Citra, she was a lifelong resident of Marion County. Mrs. Crosby was Methodist.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheila N. Stearn, Ocala; sons, Larry Crosby and Bill Crosby, both of Ocala; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Marvin L. Crosby; and son, Robert Crosby.

OCALA — Beverly G. Fogel, 83, a homemaker, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001.
Mrs. Fogel was a native of Lynxville, Wis.
Survivors include her sons, Ralph Fogel, Kewaskum, Wis., Brent Fogel and Douglas Fogel, both of Winter Haven; daughters, Vicki Flanders, Jackson, Wis., Mary Fogel, Ocala, and Verna Tadder, Adel, Wis.; brother, David P. Thompson, La Crosse, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph K. Fogel; and son, Brian Fogel.

A native of Jamaica, West Indies, she moved here from New York City in 1985. Ms. Lalor was a member of Shores Tabernacle Assembly of God.
She is survived by her nephews, Ferdenand Johnson, Toronto, Samuel Johnson, Kingston, Jamaica, James Johnson and Desmond Johnson, both of Birmingham, England.
