Ralph P. Turner, 85
OCALA — Ralph P. Turner, 85, a retired dispatcher for Eastern Airlines, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Jacksonville, he moved here from Lady Lake in 1997. He was Methodist.
Survivors include a son, Ralph M. Turner, Dover Plains, N.Y.; a daughter, Katherine Harris, Old Town, Maine; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Daniel O. Whallon, 79
OCALA — Daniel O. Whallon, 79, Presbyterian church minister and missionary, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
Born in China to Presbyterian missionary parents, he moved here from Taiwan in 1987.
Actively involved in Presbyterian Church U.S.A., he was a member of the Presbytery of St. Augustine, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, and served as a missionary in Taiwan for 25 years. He was a parish associate at First Presbyterian Church in Ocala.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn G. Whallon, Ocala; a son, Daniel G. Whallon, Largo; a daughter, Diane Whallon, Ocala, and a brother, Harold Whallon, Los Alamitos, Calif.

Samuel Williams, 72
OCALA — Samuel Williams, 72, a retired truck driver, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Sampson City, Mr. Williams came here 50 years ago. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a military service veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Williams; daughter, Wanda Edwards; son, Ernest Pete; sisters Lula Bethea, Alberta Pete and Mildred Boynton; and brother, George Williams, all of Ocala; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Julie A. Cole, 43
OCALA — Julie A. Cole, 43, a disabled resident, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, in Tampa.
A native of Jackson, Mich., she moved here in 1984. Ms. Cole was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sister, Connie E. Dorer, Ocala

Garland T. Creason, 81
INVERNESS — Garland "Pop" Thomas Creason, 81, a retiree of Amoco Oil Co., died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001.
A native of Anderson, Ind., he moved here from Tampa in 1975. Mr. Creason was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 133, Floral City; and past auxiliary officer of Florida Game Commission. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Creason was Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Eileen K. Creason, Inverness; son, Richard Mickus, Inverness; daughters, Candace Pidgeon, Tampa, Pamela Rosser, Stuart, and Melody Dorton, Ohio; brother, Kenneth Creason, Greensburg, Ind.; sister, Nancy Charles, Dickson, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

Oreather M. Dukes, 81
REDDICK — Oreather Mitchem Dukes, 81, a retired homemaker, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at TimberRidge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ocala.
A native of Kingstree, S.C., she moved here from Chiefland 51 years ago. Mrs. Dukes was a member of Mount Herman United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her brothers, Woodrow Mitchem, Chiefland, Russell Mitchem and Ernest Mitchem, both of Trenton; and sister, Carrie Marshall, Bronson.

Wallace P. Jones, 61
OCALA — Wallace P. Jones, 61, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at home.
A native of Live Oak, he moved here 35 years ago. Mr. Jones was an active member of Pedro Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Tommie J. Jones, Ocala; mother, Ruth Jones, Dowling Park; daughters, Paula Waldron, Dunnellon, Renita Hedges and Jimary Lobsing, both of Ocala; brother, Danny Jones, Tallahassee; sisters Joann Svoboda, Live Oak and Wynette Biggs, Lake City, and six grandchildren.

Wilmont R. Langin, 75
OCALA — Wilmont R. Langin, 75, owner and operator of American Frame and Fabricating Co., Exeter, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Estelle's Hospice House.
A native of Saginaw, Mich., he moved here from Clearwater in 1985. Mr. Langin was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8083. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Gazda, Belleview, and Tonie Bell, Nanticoke, Pa.; stepdaughters, Jill Langin, Ocklawaha, Jackie Robertson, Mobile, Jayne Johnson, Apopka, and Jina Cheney, Summerfield; son, Bill Langin, Freeland, Pa.; sisters, Sharlene McKay, Owosso, Mich., and Sonja Rumminger, Gladwin, Mich.; brothers, Chuck Langin, Topock, Ariz., and Phil Langin, Kerrville, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wives, Frances Thibeau Langin and Kathryn Freed Langin.

Survivors include her husband, Keith Menzie, Homosassa; daughters, Lois M. Bolengaugh, Moore, S.C., Sharon M. DeVault, Homosassa, and Crystal M. Menzie, Tampa; brothers, Carroll W. Cain, Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Russell E. Cain, Lecanto; sister, Barbara A. Casey, Sparta, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

BEVERLY HILLS — Dorothy Joan Sberna, 75, a retired staff assistant, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001.
A native of Elizabeth, N.J., she moved here from Manahawkin, N.J., in 1987. Mrs. Sberna retired from Exxon Mobil Corp. after 25 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Anthony "Tony" Sberna, Beverly Hills; and brothers, Walter Charters and James Charters, both of Beverly Hills.

Dorothy D. Smith, 76
BELLEVIEW — Dorothy Driggers Smith, 76, a homemaker, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Oxford. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oxford.
Survivors include her son, Donald K. Smith, Webster, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Dorothy C. Taylor, 91
INVERNESS — Dorothy C. Taylor, 91, a retired telephone operator, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001.
A native of New York, she moved here from Sayville, N.Y., in 1969. Mrs. Taylor was Catholic.
She is survived by her niece, Jane Boyle, Deepark, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore K. Taylor, who died July 11, 1974.

Leona W. Troupe, 90
OCALA — Leona W. Troupe, 90, a homemaker, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Marion Health Care House.
A native of West Point, Miss., she moved here from Michigan 12 years ago. Mrs. Troupe was a member of New St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Annie C. Scales, Ocala; and one grandchild.

Charles D. Wade, 66
OCALA — Charles Dennis Wade, 66, a wall covering installer, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.
A native of Saugus, Mass., he moved here from Lynn, Mass., in 1981. Mr. Wade was an active member of South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife, Joan M. Wade, Ocala; sons, Matthew Wade, Patterson, N.Y., Jesse Wade, Wallkill, N.Y.; mother, Bessie T. Wade, Lynn; brothers, Eugene Wade, James D. Wade, Leslie Wade and Everett Wade, all of Massachusetts; sisters, Alberta Sweatman, Florida, Marguerite Saunders, Kathleen Baity, Elsie Cespedes and Alice Bowzer, all of Massachusetts.

David D. Adams, 82
LECANTO — David D. Adams, 82, a retired operator for Union Oil Co., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001.
A native of Markelsville, Pa., he moved here from Lockport, Ill., in 1980. Mr. Adams was a life member of Masonic Lodge No. 538 and York Rite Three Pillars Chapter No. 280, member of Order of the Eastern Star and Good Shephard Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Ann Adams, who died March 18, 1992.
Survivors include his sons, J.D. Adams and Samuel Adams, both of Olympia, Wash.; brother, Charles H. Adams, Pennsylvania; sister, Catherine Kline, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren.

SUMMERFIELD — Robert D. Barnhart, 72, a retired bank security officer, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at home.
A native of Boswell, Pa., he moved here from Largo in 1986. Mr. Barnhart was a member of Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Barnhart, Summerfield; daughters, Rebecca Barnhart, California, and Cathy Ligard, Chicago; sons, Michael R. Barnhart, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Johnathan Barnhart, Houston; and six grandchildren.

Danielle S. Betsch-Rivera, 32
ORMOND BEACH — Danielle S. Betsch-Rivera, a registered nurse, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.
A native of New York, she moved to Ormond Beach from Ocala in 1995. Mrs. Betsch-Rivera was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Daytona Beach. She graduated from Daytona Beach Community College of Nursing.
Survivors include her husband, Anthony Rivera, Ormond Beach; parents, Wayne and Nancy Betsch, Ocala; brother, Wayne Betsch, Ocala; and sisters, Kim Miller and Tracy Betsch, both of Ocala.

OCKLAWAHA — Robert Carlile, a retired propane gas technician, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Brighton, Colo., he moved here in 1993. Mr. Carlile served in the U.S. Army. He was Baptist.
Survivors include his daughters, Mevelyn Bruce, Ocklawaha, Jennell McElhinney, Colorado, and Renae Johnson, Missouri; brother, James D. Carlile, Waldport, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elfrieda Carlile; and son, Terry Carlile.

LECANTO — Don Huscroft Cole, 87, a retired mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001.
A native of Steubenville, Ohio, he moved here from Sarasota in 1978. Mr. Cole was a member of Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church in Crystal River and past treasurer of the Beverly Hills Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Arabelle Simmons Cole, Lecanto; daughters, Doris E. Dillaman, Lecanto, Eleanor J. Dean and Catherine I. Norris, both of Homosassa; brother, W. Scott Cole, St. Petersburg; sister, Sarah Sawyer, Ozona; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
