BEVERLY HILLS — Adolph "Al" M. Ercha, 85, a retired meat cutter, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Life Care of Citrus County in Lecanto.
A native of Salem, Mass., he moved here in 1985. Mr. Ercha retired from P.W. Rounsville Co., after 35 years. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Greek Orthodox Church in Lecanto. Mr. Ercha served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Jean A. Ercha, Beverly Hills; stepdaughter, Gillian R. Craig, Halifax, Nova Scotia; brother, Stephen Ercha, Melbourne; and two step-grandchildren.

Michael V. Gennaro, 74
OCALA — Michael V. Gennaro, 74, a retired warehouse manager, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at his home.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved here from New York in 1979. Mr. Gennaro served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church, Italian-American Club and Bocci Club.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Antoinette Gennaro, Ocala; daughters, Marie Benoit, Ocala, and Lori Anger, Summerfield; son, Victor Gennaro, Ocala; brother, Benjamin Gennaro, Ocala; sister, Virginia Curci, Long Island, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Stephen J. Malleck, 85
BEVERLY HILLS — Stephen "Steve" John Malleck, 85, a retired maintenance supervisor, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River.
A native of New London, Conn., he moved here from Waterford, Conn., in 1984. Mr. Malleck was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church, Lecanto; Knights of Columbus Council No. 6168, Beverly Hills; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10087, Beverly Hills; and past grand knight of Knights of Columbus. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Claire M. Malleck, Beverly Hills; brothers, Andrew Malleck, Waterford and George Malleck Jr., New London; and sisters, Josephine Spinato, Gulf Breeze, Mary Kocany, Elizabeth Mueller and Teresa Dittman, all of Waterford.

SUMMERFIELD — Pauline M. McDermitt, 95, a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Andersonville, Tenn., she moved here from Knoxville, Tenn., 63 years ago. Mrs. McDermitt was an active member of First Baptist Church of Summerfield.
Survivors include her daughters, Sue Wright, Summerfield, and Betty Richardson, Lady Lake; son, Billy McDermitt, Summerfield; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Emory S. Miles, 85
OCALA — Emory Sheldon Miles, 85, a bakery owner and operator, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House.
A native of Mufflinburg, Pa., he moved here from Girard, Pa., in 1980. Mr. Miles was a member of First Christian Church. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth M. Miles, Ocala; and sisters, Lois Goodman, Salisbury, N.C., and Evelyn Warner, Baltimore.

OCALA — Marguerite D. Morrissey, 83, a retired manager for J.C. Penney Co., died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Worcester, Mass., she moved here from Wilbraham, Mass., in 1984. Mrs. Morrissey was an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Francis X. Morrissey Sr., Ocala; sons, Brian J. Morrissey, Southwick, Mass., Francis X. Morrissey Jr., and Timothy P. Morrissey, both of Reading, Pa.; daughter, Marguerite N. Wagner, Cape Code, Mass.; sisters, Pauline Kennedy and Kathleen Swanson, both of New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Larry Niswender, 70
OCALA — Larry Niswender, 70, a retired coordinator for Semi Truck Salvaging, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cortland, N.Y., he moved here in 2000. Mr. Niswender served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Niswender, Ocala; daughter, Marilyn Kentch, Wellsville, Pa.; son, William Niswender, Allentown, Pa.; brother, Robert Niswender, Weedsport, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

Jacob S. Refson, 75
OCALA — Jacob Spencer Refson, 75, a retired U.S. Air Force officer, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Ironwood, Mich., he moved here from Dexter, Mich., in 1997. Mr. Refson was a member of Retired Officers Association. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Clara M. Refson, Dexter; daughter, Deborah Hadding, Harrod, Mich.; sister, Rosaline Hendler, Rockville, Md.; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Jose A. Rivera, 89
BEVERLY HILLS — Jose A. Rivera, 89, a retired claims adjuster for Steamship Insurance, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, in Gainesville.
A native of Puerto Rico, he moved here from Bellport, N.Y., in 1975. Mr. Rivera was Catholic.
Survivors include his daughter, Anna Rivera, Beverly Hills, Fla.; and sisters, Aida Rivera, Lily Rivera and Auria DelValle, all of Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ana Rivera, who died May 12, 1983.

OCALA — Jane H. Sigmon, 61, an optical laboratory manager, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001.
Mrs. Sigmon was a native and a lifelong resident of Ocala. She was Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Joe M. Sigmon, Ocala; mother, Verniece Shetrone, Hernando; daughter, Karin K. Lovell, Ocala; sons, Joe M. Sigmon Jr., Fairbanks, Alaska, and Todd M. Sigmon, Keystone Heights; and three grandchildren.

OCALA — Jesse Mitchell Wall, an infant, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Munroe Regional Medical Center.
A native of Ocala, he was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Anthony.
Survivors include his parents, Jesse and Susan Wall, Jr., Ocala; sisters, Vanessa Wall, Fruitland Park, Crystal Smith, Ocala, and Heather Wall, Melrose; brothers, Kevin Wall, Melrose, and Christopher Smith, Ocala; grandparents, Jesse and Willodean Wall, Indiana, and Clinton and Betty Putt, Ocala; and great-grandparents, John Smith, Mississippi and Hermie Roland, Ocala.

DECATUR, Ga. — Blanche R. Waters, 64, a registered nurse, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Waters was a native of Melbourne. She was a member of Rainbow Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Talmadge F. Waters, Decatur; daughters, Lorraine W. Stone, Acworth, Ga., and Melaine Brough, Lilburn, Ga.; brothers, David E. Richardson, Cottondale, Daniel F. Richardson, Anthony, Floyd E. Richardson, Tuscumbia, Ala., F. Donald Richardson and Lynn M. Richardson, both of Ocala; and three grandchildren.

Sumner C. Weeks, 76
DUNNELLON — Sumner Clement Weeks, 76, a retired insurance agent, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Weeks was a native of Everett, Mass. He retired from Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. after 37 years. Mr. Weeks was a member of First Congregational Church, Masonic Lodge, Rainbow Springs Golf Club and performed with the Randy Weeks Big Band in Boston.
Survivors include his son, Sumner C. Weeks Jr., Kennebunk, Maine; daughter, Diane Johnson, Hay Market, Va.; and two grandchildren.

A native of Syracuse, N.Y., he moved here 13 years ago. Mr. Zimmer was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 1199, Silver Springs. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Zimmer was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret P. Zimmer, Ocala; sons, Roy Pine, Herkimer, N.Y., Martin Pine, Bridgeport, N.Y., and Russell Pine, Salinas, Calif.; daughters, Tracey Mitchell, Asheville, N.C., Tammy Mauldin, Jacksonville, and Trisha Alderman, Winter Haven; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A native of Portsmouth, Va., she came here from Massachusetts 16 years ago. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Central Florida Community College and St. Leo's College. She enjoyed reading and music.
Survivors include her parents, Leonard and Barbara Dubois, St. Petersburg; sisters, Mindy M. Dubois, St. Petersburg, Michelle L. Dubois, Las Vegas; grandfather, Joseph Gondela, Somerset, Mass.; two uncles and one aunt.

Walter E. Engdahl, Sr., 92
CANDLER — Walter E. Engdahl, Sr., 92, a retired civil service worker, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001.
A native of Norwich, Conn., he moved here from Greenacres in September. Mr. Engdahl was a steam and electric power plant operator with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, the Masonic Lodge of Norwich, Conn., and the VFW in Greenacres.
A veteran of World War II, he was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Erma E. Engdahl, Candler; son, Walter E. Engdahl Jr., Lebanon, Conn.; daughters, Penelope Carnarali, Waterford, Conn., and Patricia Parker, Chicago; stepsons, Howard Robinson, Fort Lauderdale, and Richard Robinson, Tampa; stepdaughters, Louise Beverly, Candler, and Roberta Weldgen, Lake Worth; and 25 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Engdahl.

SILVER SPRINGS — Waymen E. Gaston, 85, a retired civil service worker with the U.S. Air Force, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Sylvia's Hospice House in Ocala.
A native of Wadley, Ga., he moved here from Miami in 1977. Mr. Gaston was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Gaston, Silver Springs; daughters, Carole Williams, Navarre, and Janis Stovall, Birmingham, Ala.; brother, Horace Gaston, Wadley; sisters, Nell Creech, Edna Gaston and Daisy Gaston, all of Wadley; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Haywood, 91
SUMMERFIELD —Mary E. Haywood, 91, a cleaning woman for Leesburg Regional Hospital, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001.
Born in West Virginia, Mrs. Haywood moved to Summerfield from Princeton, W. Va., in 1992. She was Baptist.
Mrs. Haywood was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1969, two sons and one daughter.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie J. Warren, Summerfield; son, Ronnie Haywood, Ocala; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Nathaniel T. Lang, 61
BELLEVIEW — Nathaniel Thomas Lang, 61, a disabled U.S. Army veteran, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at New Horizon Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Newport News, Va., he moved here from Elkton, Md. Mr. Lang was a member of First Baptist Church of Belleview.
Survivors include his father, Archer Lang, stepmother, Mae Lang, both of Belleview; and sister, Tulie M. Taylor, Newport News.

Beryl L. Pope, 71
DUNNELLON — Beryl L. Pope, 71, a retired paralegal in the real estate industry, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Citrus Memorial Hospital.
A native of Birmingham, England, Mrs. Pope moved here from Davisburg, Mich., in 1979. She was Catholic.
Survivors include her sons, Mark L. Pope, Royal Oak, Mich., and Gary T. Pope, Dunnellon; daughter, Carol A. Stanley, Dunnellon; brother, Brian Mills, and sister, Anne DeFrancesca, both of Adelaide, South Australia; and five grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Madelyn Rosado, Havre de Grace, Md.; son, Edwin Rosado, Margate; brother, William Serrano, New York; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
