Jacob "Jack" Charney, 81, died Wednesday at Norton's Audubon
Hospital.He was a member of Anshei Sfard Congregation and
a retired shoes salesman for G & KShoe Company, on Main Street
and also for The Old Shoe Market.
He is survived by: one son, Steven Alan Charney; a daughter,
Patricia Ellen Charney; and one sister, Esther Charney, of Maine.
Funeral services will be held at Anshei Sfard Cemetery, 721 Locust
Lane, at 11:00am today.
Memorial gifts can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Naomi G. Altman, 76, died Monday in New Orleans, LA.
She was the former Naomi Gehr, a member of:Temple
Beth Israel, New Orleans; B'nai Brith; and Hadassah.
Her survivors include:her husband, James J. Altman;
three sons, Joel G. Altman, Ross S. Altman, Benjamin C.
Altman; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Yvette Weisberg, 71, died Sunday at Meadowview Health &
Rehabilitation.She was the former Yvette Goldstein, a native of
Brooklyn, NY and a retired secretary for Metropolitan Life Insurance
Company in Louisville and New York and also for Kentucky Coin Co.
She is survived by:a daughter, Jo Anne Jacobs; a son, Spencer
Weisberg; and a sister, Fran Weingarten.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm today with visitation beginning
after 12:15pm.Interment will be in Mount Golda Cemetery, Long Island
New York.
Memorial gifts can be made to either the James Graham Brown Cancer
Center or to the American Cancer Society.

Hospital.He was the former owner of Cohn Shoe Store in New
Albany, Indiana, and a member of The Temple Congregation.
His survivors include:a daughter, Susan G. Diamond; a son,
James R. Cohn; a brother, Harry Cohn; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held today at 1:00pm in the Adath
Jeshurun Cemetery, 2926 Preston Highway.Memorial gifts may be
given to either The Temple Brotherhood or to B'nai Brith.

Hospital.He was a native of Czechoslovakia and an appliance
repair technician.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey G. Wachsman.

follow in Mount Olive Cemetery, Solon, Ohio.

Libby K. Ostroff, 86, died Monday at Four Courts Senior Center.
She was the former Libby Kaplan, a member of Keneseth Israel
Congregation, Keneseth Israel Sisterhood, Hadassah and Amit
Women.She was also a salesperson for Byck's and Krull's Jewelry.
Her survivors include:a daughter, Beverly Geline; a son, Armand L.
Ostroff; a sister, Zeleta Barash; five grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 11:00am with interment
following in Keneseth Israel Cemetery, 719 Locust Lane.Visitation
will begin one hour before the service.
Memorial gifts can be made to Keneseth Israel.
The family will be sitting at the residence of the son, Armand
Ostroff, both tonight and Thursday night from 7:00-9:00.

Mildred Getzel, 78, died Saturday at Parkway Medical Center.She
was the former Mildred Steklof and a former member of Anshei Sfard
Synagogue.
Mrs. Getzel is survived by: two daughters, Eileen Kent and Beverly
Baker; a son, Jerry Getzel; a sister, Thelma Angell; a brother, Alvin
Steklof; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 5:00pm Monday at Anshei Sfard
Cemetery, 721 Locust Lane.A memorial service will be held today at
10:00am in the funeral home, with visitation after 9:00am.

Anne S. Isaacs, died Wednesday evening at her residence.
She was 94. She was a member of Keneseth Israel Congregation,
Keneseth Israel Sisterhood, Amit Women and Jewish Community
Center. She is survived by:her daughter, Arleen Carr; son Howard
Isaacs; two brothers, Daniel and Samuel Seligman; a sister Blanche
Clayborn; and five grandchildren.
Funeral from Herman Meyer & Son Inc. Sunday at 2:00pm with
interment in Keneseth Israel Cemetery.Visitation Sunday after
1:00pm. Expression of sympathy to Keneseth Israel Congregation.

Frank J. Stiebel, 76, died Wednesday at Hospice & Palliative Care
of Louisville's inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare Pavillion.
He was a retired supervisor for the U. S. Postal Service, a Navy
veteran of World War II and a member of The Temple.
Survivors include:his wife, the former Dorothy Cox; a daughter, Judy
Fertig; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm today with interment following
in The Temple Cemetery.Visitation will be Thursday evening from
6:30pm until 8:30pm and today after 1:00pm.
Memorial gifts can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville.

Malcolm H. "Mac" Tarbis, 73, died Monday at Norton
Suburban Hospital.
He was a retired Realtor, a World War II veteran and a former
member of St. George Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Kosair
Shrine Temple.
He is survived by:his wife, the former Paula Kaplan; a son,
Mark Tarbis; a daughter, Dr. Laurel Ehrler; and a brother
Jack Tarbis.
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm.Visitation will begin after
1:00pm.Interment will follow in Anshei Sfard Cemetery.
Memorial gifts can be made to the Jewish Community Center.
The family will be sitting tonight only with services at 8:45pm
at the residence.

Richard "Dick" N. Kanter, age 87, died at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
He was an Army Veteran of WW II, a retired jewelry and gift salesman
for B. Rubin & Co.He operated at Derby Park Traders Circle Flea
Market on 7th Street Road.He was a member of The Temple,
American Leigon Highland Post, Shawnee Masonic Lodge 830
F&AM, Scottish Rite, Kosair Shrine Temple, where he was a
member of the "Greeters" and for many years he was a poll worker
for the Jefferson County Election Commission.
His survivors include:wife, Sylvia Cohen Kanter; a daughter,
Linda J. Rosenberg; a son,Stuart Kanter; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30pm at the family lot
in The Temple Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home Sunday from
1:00 to 2:00pm.Memorial gifts can be made to Kosair Charities,
The Temple, or the Jewish Community Center.

Harold I. Miller died at his residence, after a brief illness. He was a
native of Atlanta, Georgia.He was the owner of Miller's Cinderella
Shop in Lexington and Miller's of Kentucky.He was a air force veteran
of World War II, a member of The Temple and the Standard Country
Club.
He is survived by: his wife, Barbara Kaufman Miller;a son, Bruce
Miller; a brother, Raymond Miller; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be Sunday at the funeral home, 1338 Ellison
Avenue, at 3:30pm.Interment will follow in The Temple Cemetery.
Visitation after 2:00pm Sunday
Memorial gifts can be made to The Jewish Community Federation of
Louisville, or the donor's favorite charity.
The family will sit Shiva at the residence.
