William Walker Price
William Walker Price, age 71, of Baker, Fla., died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born in Walton, N.Y., on Sept. 23, 1927 and had been a resident of this area since 1994, coming from Largo, Fla. He was Pentecostal by faith and a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea. Mr. Price was also a member of American Legion Post 75 in Crestview, Fla.; and of the Lions Club in Loudon, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Della Price of Baker; sons, Benjamin F. Jackson, Ronald K. Jackson, both of Baker, Herbert R. Jackson of Pinellas Park, Fla., and William L. Price of Charlotte, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorialization will be by cremation.

Dorna Jean Nilsen
Dorna Jean Nilsen, age 70, of Niceville, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 6, 1999, at her home.
She was born in Suttle, Ala., to the late Alonzo and Allie Kynerd Lumley and moved to this area in 1970. She worked at the base exchange on Eglin Air Force Base as a customer service representative until her retirement in 1990.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Nils W. Nilsen; sons, Wayne L. Nilsen of League City, Texas, Robert N. Nilsen of Niceville, and Lawrence G. Nilsen of Mossy Head, Fla.; daughters, Harriett Y. Radford and husband Ronnie of the Pond Creek community, Fla., Marie L. Nilsen of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Gaye Martin of Lafayette, Ind.; sisters, Blanche Wade of Selma, Ala., Evelyn Dyke of Montgomery, Ala., Rae Brown and husband Lester of Selma, Ala., and Grace Vetter and husband Hugo of San Antonio, Texas; aunt, Mabel Kynerd of Selma; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, at McLaughlin Twin Cities Chapel with the Rev. Lev Humphries officiating. Interment will follow in Liveoak Park memorial Cemetery in Crestview.

Mary Frances White
Mary Frances "Fran" Krohn White, age 61, of Niceville, Fla., passed away Monday afternoon, March 8, 1999, at her home after a brave and valiant fight with cancer.
She was born in Lewis, Iowa, to the late Elmer H. and Frances Beaver Krohn on Nov. 12, 1937. Fran was a devoted, caring and loving wife and mother. She had a zest for life and a genuine concern for others, which was always in evidence and much admired by her many friends and acquaintances.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Niceville and a member of Providence Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Lete Krohn.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Jack Alan White; children, Tamera Krohn Hammond and husband Steven of Charlottsville, Va., Todd Alan White and wife Jana of Birmingham, Ala., and Gregory Brian White and wife Beth of Springfield, Va.; sisters, Elmerine Anderson of Sanibel Island, Fla., and Patricia Connelly of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and her seven grandchildren, Allison, John, Kate, Jake, Austin, Sam and Ben.
The family will receive friends at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be conducted at First United Methodist Church in Niceville at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, with the Rev. Rurel Ausley officiating. Mrs. White will be moved to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Bennie Arnold
Bennie Arnold, age 86, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died Monday, March 9, 1999.
Mr. Arnold was born in Covington County, Ala., but lived most of his life in the Glendale and DeFuniak Springs area.
He is well remembered by many in the community because of his almost 40 years working as foreman of the body shop of the local Chevrolet dealer. He served both his community and the Church of Christ well during his life. He was a city councilman for 17 years and served as an elder in the church for many years.
Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Brown; and brother, Eddie Arnold. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lela Rebecca Arnold. Also surviving him are three daughters and one son: Barbara Jean Vann and husband Joe, Dorthy Marie Miracle and husband Paul, Bennie Lee Arnold and wife Josephine, all of DeFuniak Springs, and Dora Sue Hultman of Shelby, N.C. In addition he leaves nine grandchildren, Jimmie Hultman and Tammie Kale of Shelby, Tony Miracle, Tim Miracle and Kimberly Sandin of DeFuniak Springs, Frankie Bryan of Dallas, Ga., Lisa Wilson of Broken Arrow, Okla., Lila Arnold of Glen Burnie, Md., and Josie Billington of Las Vegas; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances S. Niswonger
Frances S. Niswonger, age 81, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Niswonger was born on July 30, 1917, in Portia, Ark., to Martin and Savannah Buster Sellers. She moved to this area over 50 years ago from Orlando, Fla., and was Baptist by faith. She was a member of BPOE Lodge 1795 Elkettes.
Survivors include her loving husband, Paul D. Niswonger Sr. of Fort Walton Beach; son and daughter-in-law, Paul D. and Dee Niswonger Jr. of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; grandchildren, Jacob and Justin; great-grandchild, Taylor; and many dear friends.

Annie Merle Thompson
Annie Merle Thompson, age 87, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in a local hospital.
She was born in Liberty, Walton County, Fla., on Sept. 16, 1911, to Charles and Sarah Powell. Annie had been living in this area for the past 70 years. She was a loving wife and mother and a good friend to many people. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Howard Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Edna Thompson of Fort Walton Beach; sister, Edda Martha Cawthon of Tallahassee, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, in Jesse Rogers Cemetery in Mary Esther, Fla.

Dwayne Anthony Feldt
Sgt. Maj. Dwayne Anthony Feldt, U.S. Army retired, age 49, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Monday, March 8, 1999, in a local hospital.
Mr. Feldt was born on Dec. 20, 1949, at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. He retired from the Army in September 1994 at Fort Campbell, Ky., after 27 years of service. During his service he received many medals, including the Legion of Merit Award and the Purple Heart for his service during the Vietnam War. He retired to Fort Walton Beach.
Mr. Feldt was Catholic by faith. He loved to play golf on Eglin Air Force Base Golf Course.
Mr. Feldt was preceded in death by both his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Jean O. Feldt of Fort Walton Beach; parents, U.S. Air Force retired Col. Albert J. and Marie Feldt of Shreveport, La.; sister, Catherine Bishop of Norman, Okla.; brother, Brian Feldt and wife Rhonda; sister, Tina Davis and husband Parker; sister, Cheryl Young and husband Jimmy, all of Shreveport; six nephews; and many extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel with Father Kevin Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery, with full military honors.

Meta Grace Keebler
Meta Grace Keebler, age 98, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away at her home after a brief illness Sunday, March 7, 1999.
Mrs. Keebler was born on Oct. 8, 1900, in Arab, Ala. She earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Auburn University and her master of arts degree from Columbia University in New York City. Mrs. Keebler was a longtime resident of Washington, D.C.; worked for the Library of Congress; and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
She authored numerous published articles; was an educator; lecturer; and a successful business woman. Mrs. Keebler was very active in the women's rights movement and a member of the National Woman's Party; and past president of the National Farm and Garden Association of Washington, D.C. She will be best remembered for her spirit and passion for life.
Mrs. Keebler was preceded in death by her husband, William Columbus Keebler. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Maria Keebler of Jacksonville, Fla.; and her grandchildren, William Marquardt and Nicole Marquardt of Mundelein, Ill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ross Mitchell officiating.

Robert Joseph Bishop
Robert Joseph Bishop left this earthly place and was united with his Heavenly Father on March 9, 1999.
He leaves behind his mother and father, Georgia L. and Joseph B. Bishop. Also surviving is his loving wife of 16 years, Donna H. Bishop of Crestview, Fla.; four devoted children, Joseph P. Bishop of Pensacola, Fla., Charles L. Bishop of Crestview, Tamela L. Soule of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Angela S. Bunch of Crestview; brother, Raymond G. Bishop of Lexington, Ky., and Bill Bishop of Crestview; and sister, Chrissie Jackson of New Orleans.
Robert was also a devoted grandfather to his five grandchildren, Gage and Breanna Bishop, Taylor Paige Bishop, and Tanis and Summer Bunch.

Herbert DeWitt Caldwell
Herbert D. Caldwell, age 74, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at his home in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Born in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., on Dec. 4, 1924, he was the son of the late Moses David and Carrie Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell had been living in the St. Petersburg area for the past 25 years after retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by two brothers, Dee Caldwell of Charlotte, N.C., and Grady Caldwell of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Virginia C. White of Melbourne, Fla., and Belle Sorger of Boise, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs with the Rev. Danny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Comander Funeral Home Chapel, 21 W. Main St., DeFuniak Springs.
