J. Hull
J. Hull, age 38, passed this life into an eternal one on Nov. 29, 1999, in the Manor at Bluewater Bay, where he had resided for the past four years.
He was born on March 30, 1961, and lived most of his life in Walton County, Fla.
He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Hull of Valparaiso, Fla., and Rachel Hull of Montgomery, Ala. He also leaves two brothers, Tracy Hull of Bruce, Fla., and Jimmy Elam of Jacksonville, Fla.; and his in-laws, Gordon and Shirley Yates of Freeport, Fla.
He was trying to conquer Genetic Spino Cerebellum degenerative disease for 12 years. He may have lost that battle with the flesh but won the spiritual battle and is now with the Lord. He now has peace and he can rest.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Freeport United Methodist Church in the name of J. Hull, in lieu of flowers.
A memorial service will be conducted at Freeport United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, with the Rev. Jim Allison of Mobile, Ala., and Pastor Harry Johnson of Freeport officiating.
His friends and family wish to express their appreciation for all the loving care given during his stay at The Manor at Bluewater Bay.

Carley R. Daniel
Carley R. Daniel, age 85, of Bruce, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, in a Panama City, Fla., hospital.
Mr. Daniel was a native of Pulaski, Tenn., and was a resident of Bruce for the past 16 years. He was a World War II veteran and served for 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a warrant officer. He was also employed in civil service at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., after his retirement from the Air Force. He was Methodist by faith and a member of Bruce Methodist Church.
Mr. Daniel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine Pate Daniel of Bruce; son, Robert Alan Daniel of Mount Marion, N.Y.; daughter, Kay Daniel Mayne and husband Ron of Panama City; brothers-in-law, Modesto Pate and wife Margie of Panama City, and Kenna Pate and wife Carol of Bruce; sisters-in-law, Pansy Bjorklund of Panama City, Zera Denson of Bruce and Naomi Starr and husband H.E. of Baytown, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Bruce Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Young officiating. Burial will follow in Dead River Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel.
Flowers are being accepted, or donations may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center in Houston, Texas.

Clara Barbara Benjamin
Clara Barbara Benjamin, age 88, of Destin, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Benjamin was born on July 3, 1911, in Yonkers, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Spruck. She was a resident of the Fort Walton Beach, Fla., area since 1967, moving here from Illinois. Clara was a devoted mother and wife, as well as a member of Magnolia Rebekah Lodge 59; the Arthritis Foundation; and St. Mary's Catholic Church, all of Fort Walton Beach.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Spruck. She is survived by her son, Charles Florin and wife Bernice of Fort Walton Beach; daughter, Rosemary Hall and husband Charles of Granbury, Texas; three grandchildren; one stepgrandson; three great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place graveside in Beal Memorial Cemetery at 3 p.m. Wednesday with Father Kevin Johnson officiating.

Raymond E. Ficarra
Raymond E. Ficarra, age 41, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 26, 1999.
Survivors include his father, Edward Ficarra; mother-in-law, Laufey Nunn; sister, Lisa Ficarra; brother-in-law, Michael Holahan; sons, Johnathan Ficarra and Jessie Ficarra; nieces, Chelsea and Amy Majeau; nephew, James E. Holahan; and too many special friends to mention.
He will always be remembered for the twinkle in his eye and his words, "Everything is gonna be alright, trust me." He now follows a path made of stars, leading him back to his home.
A memorial service will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1 Meigs Drive, Shalimar, at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, and following there will be a final farewell at his sister's home, 308 Meggs Drive, Fort Walton Beach.
Paul William Post
Lt. Col. Paul William Post, U.S. Air Force retired, age 63, died Nov. 26, 1999, at Stella Maris Hospice at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore.
He lived in Millersville, Md., for 16 years and was a native of Pittsburgh. Lt. Col. Post was stationed at Shaw Air Force Base and Eglin Air Force Base.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Post of Millersville; son, Paul Jeffrey Post of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Robin Powell and Shannon Sutton, both of Suwanee, Ga.; brother, Richard E. Post of Kaneohe, Mich.; and five granddaughters.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Dec. 6, at Arlington National Cemetery. Friends should meet at Arlington Administration Building at 2:30 p.m. for services, with full military honors. Interment will follow.

Warene Addie Peoples, age 84, 4419 N. Highway 231, Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, in a local hospital.
She was a resident of this area since 1995, coming here from Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Mrs. Peoples was a member of Hiland Park Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Gurtis Castleberry and husband Gene of Panama City; sister, Thelma Wamble of Bonifay, Fla.; granddaughters, Angela Heil and husband J.R. of San Diego, Calif., and Teresa Black and husband Bill of Lynn Haven, Fla.; grandsons, Jim Castleberry of Atlanta, and David Peoples of Austin, Texas; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Peoples of Pflugerville, Texas; sisters-in-law, Annie Bell Gavin and Lurlene Gavin, both of Panama City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Peoples; and a son, Billie G. Peoples.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Pickerill officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

William Furman Brown
William Furman Brown, age 81, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1918, in Florien, La., the only son of Henry and Eva Brown. He was a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel and a resident of Fort Walton Beach for more than 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maggie Evans of Florien; sister, Georgia Nelson of Florien; and sister, Roxie Berryman of Yellow Pine, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Madge L. Brown; sister, Janie Meredith of Lompoc, Calif.; daughter, Betty L. Petrides of Fort Walton Beach; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and numerous caring nieces and nephews.
A family graveside service was held at Beal Memorial Cemetery on Sunday, Nov. 28. Chaplain Joel Underwood officiated.
Family from out of town included his niece, Mrs. Marjorie Savell and her granddaughter, Mrs. Carol Anthony; granddaughter, Patricia Murphy and her husband, Jim Murphy; their daughter, Shannon Murphy, all of Bowling Green, Ky.; granddaughter, Jeanette Gentry and her husband, Joe Gentry; and their son, Charlie Gentry, all of Gulf Breeze, Fla.

Arie W. Henderson
Arie W. Henderson, age 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at his home in DeFuniak Springs, Fla.
Mr. Henderson was born on April 30, 1914, to Charles Monroe and Mary Wilkerson Henderson in Walton County, Fla., where he remained a lifelong resident. He owned and operated Henderson Feed Mill from 1941 until 1980. He was Methodist by faith and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his wife, Cordelia "Dee" Henderson.
Mr. Henderson is survived by his sons, Harley Henderson and wife Melinda of DeFuniak Springs and Charles Henry Henderson and wife Carolyn of Enterprise, Ala.; sisters, Bernice Jordan of Pensacola, Fla., and Eunice Jackson of DeFuniak Springs; grandchildren, Lisa Henderson Brown, Mike Henderson and Casey Henderson; and great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Brown, Thomas Henderson, Noah Henderson and Colby Henderson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Clary-Godwin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Burial will follow in Gum Creek Cemetery.

Gettis Courtney
Gettis Courtney, age 93, of Milligan, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in a Crestview, Fla., nursing home.
He was born in Opp, Ala., in 1906, and lived most of his life in Okaloosa County, Fla. He was retired from civil service as a plumber and was a member of First Baptist Church of Milligan.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Leatha Courtney of Milligan; daughters, Vissie Wood of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Selvia Kennedy of Picayune, Miss.; sister, Anne Lou Barnes of DeFuniak Springs; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Whitehurst Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday with the Rev. Ted Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow in Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of services for visitation.

Elsa G. Schottroff
Elsa G. Schottroff, age 92, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Schottroff was a 71-year resident of Walton County, Fla., after moving there from her birthplace of Germany. She enjoyed taking care of flowers and spending time with her dogs. She was Protestant by faith.
Mrs. Schottroff was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Schottroff. She is survived by her sister, Frida S. Koerber of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; special nephew, Albin Schottroff and wife Lillian of DeFuniak Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Clary-Godwin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glen Spence officiating.
