Alma L. Daughtery
Alma L. Daughtry, age 95, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in the local nursing home.
Born on Aug. 26, 1904, in Laurel Hill, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Dave and Melvinie Mitchum Locke. Mrs. Daughtery was a lifelong resident of Walton County. She was Assembly of God by faith and a member of Liberty Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Daughtery was preceded in death by her husband William Daughtery; sons, Harold and Dick Daughtery; and daughter, Margaret Cauley.
Mrs. Daughtery is survived by one daughter, Edwina L. Taylor and husband Ray of DeFuniak Springs; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Comander Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glen Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Cluster Springs Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel.
Pallbearers will be Butch Taylor, Buddy Cauley, Jimmy Ray Cauley, Jeff Daughtery, Tony Prater and Gerald Cauley. Alternate pallbearer is Mike Cauley.

Anita E. Dreier
Anita E. Dreier, age 87, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999.
She was born on July 1, 1912, in Louisville, Ky., and was Episcopal by faith and a member of St. Simon's-on-the-Sound Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Dreier was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell C. Dreier in 1966. Survivors include her son, Wendell C. Jr.; daughter-in-law, Cheryl of Springfield, Va.; grandchildren, Vicki Hershey and Kelly Dreier; and great-grandson, Brian Hershey.
Graveside services will be held in Beal Memorial Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. James Spencer officiating.

Richard A. Dutton
Richard A. Dutton, Colonel, U.S. Air Force retired, age 69, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in a local hospital.
He was born April 24, 1930, in Chicago to Geraldine and Ralph A. Dutton. He is survived by his wife, Jean Dutton; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Barbara Dutton, and their daughters, Abbey and Sarah, of Hanau, Germany; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Michael Yares of Phoenix; and his aunt, Grace Morse, residing at Sunpointe/Westwood Senior Living Facility.
Col. Dutton retired from the United States Air Force in 1981 after serving his country for more than 30 years. During that time he received numerous awards. He was a fighter pilot who flew F-86s, F-100s and F-105s. In 1967, he was shot down over North Vietnam where he was taken as a prisoner of war and was held there until his release in March 1973.
After spending a year at the National War College at Ft. McNair, Washington, D.C., he was assigned to Hurlburt Field in 1974, where he served as Deputy Commander for Maintenance and later as Commandant of the United States Special Operations School.
He was a member of several organizations, including Daedalians, AmVets, Sons of the American Revolution and the Air Commando Association. He served as a board member and treasurer of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. He was also a dedicated fisherman, and was an active member of the Fort Walton Beach Sailfish Club, where he served as treasurer for many years. He was recently awarded the International Game Fish Association Elwod K. Harry Fellowship Award by the Sailfish Club in recognition of his commitment to fishing. Other interests include genealogy.
Memorial services for Col. Dutton will be conducted at noon on Thursday, Dec. 16, at Hurlburt Field Chapel.

Zella Mae Alford
Zella Mae Alford, age 94, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in DeFuniak Springs, Fla.
Ms. Alford was born in Milligan, Fla., on March 24, 1905, to John and Martha Hurley Nowling. She was a resident of DeFuniak Springs for most of her life. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Argyle Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Alford. Survivors include her daughter, Lettie M. Lamport of DeFuniak Springs; grandchildren, James E. Lawrence, Buddy Lawrence, Gene Wakefield, Joyce Zaidi, Debbie Wilkerson and Freddie Wakefield; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clary-Godwin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Allen Lawrence, Stephen Matthews, B.J. Lawrence, Shawn Wakefield, Aaron Mitchell and Buddy Baxley. Honorary pallbearers are Archie Balkcom, Dan Martin, Billy Howell, Delmar Rushing, Kenneth Gillis, Gordon Porter and Dewayne Meyers.

Dorothy Kay Felton
Dorothy Kay Tyson Felton, age 70, of Shalimar, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Born in Rocky Mount, N.C., and educated in Fayetteville, Dorothy lived many places in the United States and Germany before settling in Florida 29 years ago with her husband, Robert R. Felton, who is currently a photographer with DynCorp at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
Dorothy is lovingly survived by her husband and her son, Jeffrey A. Felton of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; three sisters in Fayetteville: Martha Earl, Thelma Bryant and Ruby Hill; two sisters, Sylvia Hutchinson and Bettye Spinner; and her aunt and uncle, Etta Mae and Ray Cottrell, who are all residents of New Jersey. She will be sorely missed by her three brothers-in-law, David Hill, Albert Hutchinson and Charles Spinner; by her two sisters-in-law, Thalia Felton and Almyrth Williams of Stoughton, Mass.; by her numerous nieces and nephews; and by her devoted friends.
Arrangements are being handled by McLaughlin Mortuary in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

Rebecca Ann Evans
Rebecca Ann Evans, age 41, of Navarre Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in a local hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Evans was of the Catholic faith. She was the 1999 president of Navarre Beach Board of Realtors; member of Navarre Beach Chamber of Commerce; member of Navarre Beach Leaseholders Association; the Florida Association of Realtors; and the National Association of Realtors. Mrs. Evans was spearheading the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Navarre Median Beautification Project.
Survivors include her husband, Bob W. Evans; parents, Bobby and Elizabeth Jones; brothers, Greg Jones and Jeff Jones; sisters, Patty Wright, Sally Laughton, Karen Palmiter and Meme McDermott; 21 nieces and nephews; and father and mother-in-law, Bob and Janet Evans.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Navarre with Father Joseph Callipare of St. Peter's Catholic Church officiating.

Bart Eugene Neville, age 32, of Navarre, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in a local hospital.
Born in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., was a lifelong resident of the area. He was Catholic by faith.
He is survived by his parents, Gail E. and Paul E. Neville of Navarre; maternal grandmother, Eva L. Weeks of Navarre; sister, Colleen Steinkamp and husband Horst of Kempen, Germany; brother, Mark A. Neville and wife Heidi of Macon, Ga.; niece, Lindsey Neville; and two nephews, Taylor Neville and Eric Steinkamp.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

John David Fleet III
"J.D." Fleet, age 10, was born on Oct. 11, 1989, at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. On Dec. 12, 1999, he and his beloved brother Matt went to Heaven together.
J.D. is survived by his mother, Shelley Cordial Fleet of Niceville, Fla.; his father, John David Fleet II of Atlanta; his younger brother, Tyler Alexander Fleet, age 5, of Niceville. He is survived by his three great-grandparents, Lee and Vora Rice of Arbutus, Md., and Elaine Fleet of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; his grandparents, Vivian Cordian of Niceville, George Cordial and wife Susan of Brandon, Fla., John David Sr. and John Fleet of Port Huron, Mich. He is also survived by eight aunts and uncles, Marjo Cordial, Patti and Shawn Harper of Niceville, Scott and Melissa Fleet of Port Huron, Cathy and Jim Baker of Lansing, Mich., and Rod Fleet of Atlanta. J.D. is also survived by his eight cousins, Patrick Cordial, Krystal Hill, Brandi Harper, Kayla Harper, Alley Fleet, Cortney Fleet, Zachery Baker and Nicholas Baker.
J.D. was in the fourth grade at Edge Elementary and was a member of the chorus. He was a great athlete and involved in many sports, including soccer, travel soccer, little league baseball, travel baseball, football and basketball.
His mother, father and little brother Tyler will forever miss J.D. His family and friends are deeply saddened by this sudden and tragic loss and will always hold a special place in their hearts for him.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Matthew Sean Fleet
Matthew Sean Fleet, age 7, was born on Feb. 11, 1992, in Atlanta. On Dec. 12, 1999, he and his beloved brother J.D. went to Heaven together.
Matt is survived by his mother, Shelley Cordial Fleet of Niceville, Fla.; his father, John David Fleet II of Atlanta; his younger brother, Tyler Alexander Fleet, age 5, of Niceville. Matt was a second grader at Edge Elementary. Like his brother J.D., Matt was an excellent athlete and played baseball, soccer, football and motor cross.
His mother, father and little brother Tyler feel an overwhelming sadness that they will have to continue without Matt in their Life. They will always, always miss him. His sudden and tragic death has touched the entire community, especially all of the family and friends who knew and loved him so.

Marion Inez Barnes, age 62, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Health Mark Regional Medical Center in DeFuniak Springs.
