Charles Seymour Sr.
Charles Leonard Seymour Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 4, 2000 after a brief illness. He was born on Nov., 24, 1933 in Canton, OH to Bishop and Ludie Seymour who preceded him in death; along with 11 brothers and sisters; and one grandson. He was a member of St. Paul A.M.E Church and he was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years of service. Charles was united in marriage to Aleta Denny on Oct. 15, 1955 and to this union was born six children. He is survived by his wife, Aleta D. Seymour of 45 years; three sons, Michael, Mark and Charles Seymour Jr.; three daughter, Andrea Seymour, Jerilynn (Victor) Seymour-Bell, and Gail Maske; nine grandchildren, Michael Jr., Mark Jr., Marlon, Malia, Makayla, Charles III, Khristian Seymour, Keith and Kevin Maske; and one great grandchild. Survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Services will be held on Wednesday October 11, 2000 at Union Baptist Church with Pastor Sherman Martin Jr. officiating. Jere R. Roth
Jere R. Roth, age 57, of Massillon, passed away Friday evening in the residence following
a courageous battle with cancer. Jere worked for Hercules company for 29 years, and served in the National Guard. He was an avid boater and pilot, and had a love for wood working. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Stella (Kavalousky) Roth; and a step-grandchild, Sarah Patterson. Survivors include his wife, Sandy (Gooden) Roth of the home; three stepsons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Tammy Patterson of Massillon, Russ and Lisa Patterson of Canton, Shawn Patterson of Akron; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Xavier Du Faur de Citres, Shannon and Joe Seckman all of Massillon; 10 step-grandchildren, Zachary, Keith and Tyler Patterson of Massillon, Megan Patterson of Canton, Shawn Jr., Savannah and Forrest Patterson of Carrollton, Justin Lesh of Massillon, and Janelle and Joshua Seckman of Massillon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Helen Gooden of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Judy (Ralph) Siegmund of Connecticut; and nieces and cousins also surviving. Margaret M. Yoder
Margaret Mary (Schillig) Yoder, age 89, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2000, in the Canton Christian Home. Born December 8, 1910, in Maximo, OH., to the late Charles and Louise (Miday) Schillig. Margaret was a home maker; a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Maximo, the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church, and the Nimishillen Grange. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ray A. Yoder, who passed away in January of this year; two sisters, Helen Schwall Hohman, Mary Bresson; and one brother, Paul Schillig. Margaret is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and John Scott of Naperville, IL., Marjorie and August Dhayer of Alliance, Hazel and Fritz Wurgler of North Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shirley Yoder of Louisville; one sister, Marcelline Frank of Alliance; one brother, Robert Schillig of Port Clinton, OH; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Fr. John Schmidt officiating. Alice E. Marshall
Alice E. Marshall, age 92, of North Canton, died Friday in Hanover House. The daughter of the late William and Grace (Barcus) Telfer. She was born in Mechanicstown, OH., April 1, 1908. She attended Village Baptist Temple and was a member of the Sparkling Seniors and the Jolly 60's. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Marshall in 1966; three brothers, Wayne and Arthur Telfer and Harold Hale; a daughter, Marjorie Thompson; and a granddaughter, Lorna Logan. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Edgar Stertzbach of Bradenton, FL., Jackie and Joseph Dryden of North Canton and Donna and Donald Logan of Massillon; two sisters, Pauline Baughman of Youngstown and Lucille Furbee of North Canton; a son-in-law, Ralph Thompson of Carrollton; also surviving are eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. NW, with Rev. Dr. Jack Haggerty officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Billie Poole
Billie Poole, age 82, of Canton, died Friday evening. Born December 22, 1917, in Dover, OH., to the late Benjamin Pollock and Dorothy Hisrich. She was a member of Canton Baptist Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene L. (Old Paint) Poole, September 23, 1984; one son, Richard Santora; one sister, Virginia Swinderman; and one brother, Richard Hisrich. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jackie Santora of North Canton; and one daughter, Karen Nordick of Canton; there are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also surviving. Sara J. King
Sara J. King, slipped away from her family and friends on Friday in her home. Sara was a very loving and devoted mother who lived her life for her sons and family. Mrs. King was born on February 4, 1921, to the late John and Margaret Grimes of Uniontown, PA. In 1938 she married Earl King, son of Den and Myrtle King also of Uniontown, PA. Moving to Canton, OH. in 1963, she was employed as a cashier at the W.T. Grant Dept. Store and the Stoll's Grocery Store on Raff Rd. She moved to Alexandria, Louisiana in 1974 and returned to Canton to be with her family in June 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl King; and one son, William King. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Shelly King of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jerry and Joyce King of Canton; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Marion Grimes of Canton; one sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Ralph Sommers of Chester, PA; and one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Goldie and Pat Stromick of Hopwood, PA; there are seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also surviving. Karen M. Miesiak
Karen M. (Pontius) Miesiak, age 37, of Canton, died Saturday in Aultman Hospital after a sudden illness. She was a life resident of Canton, a 1981 graduate of Central Catholic High School, and had attended Kent State University. She was a former employee of Everhard Products. Karen was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, and was training to be an assistant Girl Scout leader. Survived by her husband, Christopher G. Miesiak, and a daughter, Amber Maxine Miesiak, both of the home, her father and step mother, Robert A. and Alberta J. Pontius, of Canton, a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Kevin McJessy, and a nephew, Coleman Pontius McJessy, all of Chicago, IL. Preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Pontius. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church with Msgr. John C. Finnigan and Fr. Ronald Klingler as concelebrants. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mary Frances McKinnon, age 97, died on October 8, 2000, in the St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville. She was born on February 23, 1903, to Franklin and Ida (Mays) Stamm. Mary was a devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother and had lived in the Canton area until 1954 at which time she and her husband moved to Mansfield. She was a member of the Diamond Hills Baptist Church there. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duncan A. McKinnon in 1974, and also by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Ruth McKinnon of Fredericktown, OH; her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Don LaHue of North Canton, OH; seven grandchildren, William L. McKinnon of Bellville, OH, Michael D. McKinnon of Mt. Eloise C. Hegal, age 87, of Canton, OH, passed away Sunday evening in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Marietta, OH on January 26, 1913 she had lived the greater portion of her life in the Canton area. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew E. Hegal, Jr., who passed away in 1994; son, Andrew Hegal III in 1994; five brothers, Raymond, Harold, William, Clarence and Hubert Henderhan. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Linda Hegal of Canton; granddaughter, Patricia (Hegal) VanNest of North Canton; two other grandchildren, Jonathan Hegal and Jessica Hegal. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Mark Mansoo Jung, age 72, passed away at home, Monday, October 9, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born in August 9,1928 in Pyongyang, Korea, the son of Sukkyu and Kyungsoo (Lim) Jung. Retired from the Marine Corps, Republic of Korean Army as a full Colonel, 1968. Immigrated to USA, 1968. Received his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Case Western Reserve University, 1970. Graduated with honors from Physical Therapy School, Cleveland State University, 1976. Had a private practice in Physical Therapy in Canton, served and dedicated to help many patients. Served faithfully as an elder, bible teacher, Sunday school teacher and zone leader, Korean Central Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his loving, devoted wife, Grace Jumsuhn (Kim); son, David and his wife, Insook; son, Stephen his wife, Mi-Sook, Columbus, OH; son, Christopher and his wife, Laurie, Atlanta, GA; sister, Sim Chu Lee Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Esther, Ryan, Kira and Geoffrey. Cletus C. Blosser, age 79, of Canton, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 8, 2000 following and extended illness. Born in Crestline, OH, December 16, 1920 to his parents the late Isaac A. Blosser and Dorothy J. (Corbin) Blosser, he lived most of his life in the Canton area. He was a retired Supervisor in Dept. 13 with the Timken Co.; retiring in 1982 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Industrial Management Club and had a very inventive mind, many of his ideas are still in use today for the Timken Co. He also played basketball for Timken Roller Bearing Co. He was an avid sports fan, and all around High School Athlete, of Middlebranch High School. He was on several Championship teams in high school and in the US Air Force in World War II. He was a World War II Veteran. He served in the US Air Force Corp., 28th Photo Recon Sqdn. He was a basketball and a football player in school and in the US Air Force Corp. He was a 32nd Degree Mason; Member of Wm. McKinley Lodge. A member of the Zion United Methodist Church and the Humane Society. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Eileen Volkert. Survivors include his wife, Donna J. Blosser of the home, to whom he was married for 53 years on April 18, 2000; survived by two sons, Randall Blosser and Brian Blosser of Canton; one brother, Robert Blosser of Canton; two loving sisters, Betty (Mrs. Lewis A.) Gibbs of Louisville, OH; and Shirley Kimmel of Bensalem, PA; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Merle C. Bruner, age 99, of Paris OH, passed away Monday October 9, 2000 in the McCrea Manor Care Center in Alliance. She was born in Freeburg, OH April 29, 1901 to the late Henry and Laura (Ruff) Culler. She was a member of the Freeburg Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer in 1970; a sister, Elsie Franks; and four brothers, Harmon, Forrest, Frank and Ralph Culler. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Bruner of the home; and a sister, Vada Phillips of Louisville. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Freeburg Church of the Brethren with Rev. James M. Uebing, age 80, of Canton, died Sunday in St. Luke Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Born February 29, 1920 in Barberton, OH., to the late Frederick and Eliza Uebing. He was a WWII Army Veteran, was retired from Ford Motor Co. and was a member of Fidelity Lodge #712 F & AM and Ford Retirees. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Doris Uebing of the home with whom he celebrated 54 of marriage; and two daughters; and sons-in-law; Claudia and Drew Griesen, Shirley and Charles Cevender all of North Canton. Louis A. Leno, age 64, of East Canton, died Sunday afternoon at Aultman Hospital after having an apparent heart attack. He was retired from Dyneer and had been employed by H-P Products and Purolator Courier. He and his wife owned and operated Donna’s Country Fair Lanes. He had bowled on several leagues. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela Leno of Louisiana, Teri and James Hall of Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Kathy Leno of Canton; seven grandchildren; a brother, James Leno; his mother-in-law, Virginia Hall of East Canton. Clarence L. (Ike) Newbauer, age 65, of Massillon, died October 7, 2000 at his home. Born December 8, 1934 in Greentown, the son of the late Arthur and Ethel (VanHorn) Newbauer. He moved to Massillon in 1960 when he married Jean Selogy whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on October 11, 2000. Clarence retired in 1991 from Ford Motor Company as an electrician after 25 years of service and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean in May, 2000. Also preceded in death by four brothers, Author, Charles, Paul and James; sister, Gertrude; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Hess. He is survived by, daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda A. and Jeffrey Hess of Massillon; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Debra Newbauer of Perry Heights, James and Meecie Newbauer of Tombstone, AZ; six grandchildren; sisters, Mary Craven of North Canton, Sally Grady of IL, Ida Fye of East Canton; brother, Donald Newbauer of Lima. Frances Elaine Wyler, age 82, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2000 in Altercare of Canton. Born in Canton she was the daughter of the late Zelmer and Clara Holl. A graduate of McKinley High School in 1936, she worked for Hoover Company, TRW, East Canton Paint Shop and Aultman Hospital. Her late husband had owned Wyler Dairy. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in East Canton and helped the Willowbrook Plain Township Lions Club with their projects. Preceded in death by her husband, Walter, on May 14, 1995. Survived by two sons, Paul of East Canton, David of Fiji Islands; two daughters, Mrs. Philip (Barbara) Bender of Nebraska, Mrs. David (Marilyn) Burgess of Malvern; brother, Paul Holl of Canton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
