Elaine Pate Daniel
Elaine Pate Daniel, age 79, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Panama City, Fla.
Mrs. Daniel was born on June 18, 1920, in Pensacola, Fla., to Angus Edward and Maizie Ella Ward Pate.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carley Robert Daniel; and her father and mother, Angus and Maizie Pate; and a brother, Edward Eugene Pate.
Mrs. Daniel is survived by a son, Robert Alan Daniel of Mount Marion, N.Y.; daughter, Kay Mayne and husband Ron of Panama City; brothers, Kenna Pate and wife Carol of Bruce, Fla., and Dex Pate and wife Margie of Panama City; and sisters, Zera Denson of Bruce, Pansy Bjorklund of Panama City, and Naomi Starr and husband H.E. of Baytown, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Bruce Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Young officiating. Burial will follow in Dead River Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel.
Pallbearers are Bill Angelos, Chuck Tucker, Brett Hertzing, Terry Mayne, James Walters and H.E. Starr. Honorary pallbearers are Nowling Cox, Jimmy Ward, Jimmy Waits, Early Wilson, Earl Godsey and Michael Calumbo.

Elonore H. Wilkin
Elonore H. Wilkin, age 92, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Friday evening, Jan. 21, 2000, in a St. Petersburg, Fla., hospital.
She was born in Sackets Harbor, N.Y., to Edgar Abel Hovey and Elizabeth Hale Hovey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis M. Wilkin; and grandson, Jay Charles Moody.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Moody of Fort Walton Beach, and Claire Curtis Cooper and husband Joseph of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; grandsons, Marc Steven Moody of Gainesville, Fla., William Grant Curtis and wife Brenda of Fort Walton Beach, Jeffrey Paul Curtis and wife Cynthia of Niceville; granddaughters, Denise Ann Palmeri and husband John of St. Petersburg, Lynne Hovey Donaldson of Destin, Fla., and Lori Kay Stinson and husband Scott of Schell City, Mo.; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Destin at 3 p.m.
Robert Ezra Ammons Jr.
Robert Ezra Ammons Jr., age 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in a local hospital.
Mr. Ammons was born in Ponce de Leon, Fla., on Jan. 13, 1927, to Robert E. Ammons Sr. and Lessie McGowan Ammons. He remained a lifelong resident of Ponce de Leon. Mr. Ammons was Baptist by faith and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Ammons.
Survivors include his daughters, Janice Bennett and husband David of Tallahassee, Fla., and Donna Rushing and husband Marvin of Ponce de Leon; brother, Willard H. Ammons of Geneva, Ala.; sisters, Virginia Jones of Warner Robbins, Ga., Shirley Conover of Tallahassee, and Thelma Jean Hopek of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; and grandchildren, Allie Rushing, Bo Rushing and Sarah Bennett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ponce de Leon Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel.

Flora Spencer
Flora Spencer, age 91, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Wichita Falls.
She was a former resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., for 45 years. Ms. Spencer was born in Archer County, Texas, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sister, Dora Ramming of Lawton, Okla.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charles Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., with graveside rites at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1.

Barbara Hanna Richardson
Barbara Hanna Richardson, age 62, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Jan. 26, 2000.
Mrs. Richardson was born on Dec. 9, 1937, in Philadelphia, Miss., and was a resident of Fort Walton Beach since 1959. She will be remembered for many things, but especially for her love of children and teaching. She taught at Annette P. Edwins Elementary School from 1959 until 1999. Mrs. Richardson touched so many lives through her teaching. The faculty of Edwins was truly her second family.
Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, Creel Richardson Jr., in 1992.
She is survived by her children, Deanna Conner and husband Kevin of Granbury, Texas, Kristyn Cain and husband Brian of Fairhope, Ala., Trey Richardson and wife Melissa of Birmingham, Ala., and James Daniel Richardson of Fort Walton Beach. Her grandchildren, Dunn and Scott Conner, Wes and McKay Cain were loved very much by her and will always remember coming to see their "Meme" so that she could take them fishing and share her love of birds. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Dean Scarbrough; niece, Melissa Scarbrough; and nephew, Frank Scarbrough and wife Joy.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McLaughlin Mortuary.

Myrtle A. McBroom
Myrtle A. McBroom, age 83, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Arabi, La.
Mrs. McBroom was born on July 5, 1916, in Crenshaw County, Ala., to Cleveland and Laura Elland Grover. She had been living in Arabi for the past five years, moving there from DeFuniak Springs, Fla. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Baldwin Avenue Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs.
Mrs. McBroom was preceded in death by her husband, Seabron McBroom, and brother, Palma Grover.
She is survived by a daughter, Roslyn Daniel of Arabi; brother, the Rev. Wayne Grover of Decatur, Ga.; grandchildren, Anna Robinson of Arabi, and John Ingram and Lori Ingram, both of Acworth, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Magnolia Cemetery in DeFuniak Springs, with the Rev. Wayne Grover officiating.

Jeremy Smith
Jeremy Smith, age 18, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Missions Hospital, Asheville, N.C., as a result of injuries that he received in an automobile accident on Jan. 26.
Jeremy was born on Aug. 15, 1981, at Santa Rosa Hospital and had been a resident of Asheville for the past two years. He was a senior at T.C. Roberson High School in Asheville.
Jeremy had many hobbies in life. He was an avid cross country motorcycle racer and fan, having attended and raced in several races over the past two years. He was a great outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He had recently learned to snow ski and loved that also. He loved the beaches, and hoped one day to live in one of our beach areas. He was a very talented artist in all forms.
Jeremy was an idol in the eyes of his younger cousins, Josh, Morgan, Skye and Whitney, but he was never too busy to answer their many questions.
Jeremy is survived by his parents, Duane and Michelle Smith of Asheville; mother, Sharon Craven of Jasper, Ala.; grandparents, Elsie M. Smith-Brown, Tom and Juanita Smith, all of Crestview, Fla., and Lawrence and Doris Woods of Jasper; great-grandmother, Opal Smith of Crestview, Fla.; uncle, Paul Smith and wife Pan of Millbrook, Ala.; and aunt, Tammy Coleman of Deland, Fla. Also grieving his loss are numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
God loaned Jeremy to us for 18 very short years and all of us would have loved to have kept him for so many, many more. But God was like us, he loved Jeremy too and had a need in Heaven for our very special young man. Jeremy, we all love you so very, very much.

Robert C. Blue
Robert C. Blue, age 87, 209 E. Nelson Ave., DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died early Friday morning, Jan. 28, 2000.
Mr. Blue was a DeFuniak Springs resident and business owner since 1946. He owned and operated Blue Motor and Equipment Co., an automobile truck and tractor dealership, for many years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Blue was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Mae Bean Blue.
He is survived by a brother, C.V. Blue of Crestview, Fla.; sisters, Gladys Tolson and Evelyn Gershon of Pensacola, Fla., and Vera Kelly of California; sons, Rob Blue and wife Susan, and Bill Blue and wife Betty; and grandchildren, Bonnie Blue of Houston, Jill Blue of Tallahassee, Fla., Robbie Blue of Panama City, Fla., and Erin Blue of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at First United Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs with the Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.

Myrtle Jackson Ausley
Myrtle Jackson Ausley, age 82, a resident of the Manor at Bluewater Bay, Niceville, Fla., and formerly of 501 North Trinity St., Geneva, Ala., died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at First United Methodist Church of Geneva with the Rev. Bruce Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Ausley will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30.

She was born in Geneva County, Ala., on Oct. 26, 1917, to the late Robert Lehman and Retha Howell Jackson of Chancellor, Ala. She was married to Rural R. Ausley Sr. in Samson, Ala., on April 24, 1943. They were married for 56 years and were blessed with two children, Belinda and Rurel Jr.
She was an active and faithful member of Geneva First United Methodist Church, serving as worship leader; president of Geneva First United Methodist Women; president of Dothan District United Methodist Women; and a member of the ladies Sunday school class.
Mrs. Ausley was a retired schoolteacher, having taught school for more than 39 years. Most of her teaching was with Geneva County schools until her retirement in 1979. She was a graduate of Coffee Springs High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Troy State Teachers College, and her master's degree from Auburn University. In the community, she was a lifelong member of the Geneva Athenaeum Club.
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Rurel Ausley Sr. of Geneva; daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Dr. John Mathison of San Diego; son and daughter-in-law, the Revs. Rurel Jr. and Lisa Ausley of Niceville, Fla.; grandchildren, Emily and Nancy Mathison of San Diego, and Matthew, Andrew and Luke Ausley of Niceville; sister, Mavis Patty and husband Pat of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers, Odell Jackson and wife Edna of Dothan, Ala, and Willie Mack Jackson and wife Betty of Crestview, Fla.; sister-in-law, Myrtie Baxley of Marl, Ala.; brother-in-law, Wymack Ausley and his wife, Alma of the Goat Hill community; sister-in-law, Mrs. Bobbie J. Jackson of Malabar, Fla. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hayward and Charles Wayne Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Nancy Kennedy
Mary Nancy Kennedy, age 88, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Friday morning, Jan. 28, 2000, at Fort Walton Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Kennedy was a homemaker and a member of Wright Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach. She had resided in this area since 1967.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burley Kennedy, in 1989. Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy M. Simmons and husband John, and Martha K. Owens, all of Fort Walton Beach; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and close friend, George Barnett of Fort Walton Beach.
