William Ezra Broughton, 88, of Lake City, brother of Robert Broughton, of Walnut Ridge, died April 12, 2003, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro. Burial was Monday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
Harry B. Ferrell II
Harry B. Ferrell II, 82, of Jonesboro, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died April 10, 2003, at his home.
Born in Evansville, Ind., he lived in California for several years before moving to Williford in 1978. He later lived in Walnut Ridge and moved to Jonesboro three years ago. A graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, he was a retired manager with Hughes Aircraft of Fullerton, Calif., and a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of the Walnut Ridge American Legion, where he was a past State Commander, the Lions Club, where he was a past District Governor and was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Church in Jonesboro and the Christian Businessmen's Fellowship of Jonesboro.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Francis Ferrell, in 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Harry Ferrell III, Dalhart, Texas, and Thomas Cash, Anahiem Hills, Calif.; two daughters, Janet Thomas, Ontario, Calif., and Linda Krause, Dalhart, Texas; a sister, Mary Ann Sears, Indiana; four grandchildren, Erik Thomas, Jennifer Thomas, Pamela Crouch and Scott Cash; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel Church with Rev. John Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Pallbearers will be William Pavlicek, Paul King, Jake Beyer, Peter Thomas, Ron Eberwein and Dennis Detjens.

Carolyn Light Garner
Carolyn Light Garner, 58, of Bentonville, died April 12, 2003, at her home.
Born June 15, 1944, at Alicia, she was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leamon and Lois Boles Light; two sisters; and a grandson, William Davis.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Garner, whom she married Aug. 15, 1964; two sons, James Garner, Bentonville, and Otis Garner, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Davis and Pat Koenig, both of Rogers; three sisters, Glenna Montgomery, Pea Ridge, Shirley Cobb, Forrest City, and Betty Morrison, Cardwell, Mo.; a brother, Otis Light, Pea Ridge; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Corey, Sarah, Matthew and Dustin.
Funeral is Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Rev. Allen Brown officiating. Burial will be in Maxville Cemetery under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Glen Montgomery, John Montgomery, Ricky Branlett, Kenny Branlett, Dennis Rogers and Eddie Rogers.

Marion Millis Gates
Marion Millis "Willis" Gates, 62, of Hoxie, died April 14, 2003, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1940, he was a veteran serving in the Army Federal Reserves and was of the Pentecostal belief.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Marion and Ruth Goodman Gates; a brother, Herbert Gates; and a half-sister, Pauline Emmons.
Survivors include two sons, Wesley Gates and Leslie Gates, both of Hoxie; three brothers, Francis Lavern Gates and Clovis Gates, both of Warm Springs, and Travis Gates, Byron, Ill.; three half-brothers, Wayne Goodman, Rockford, Ill., and Dan J.R. Goodman and Jimmy Goodman, both of Warm Springs; two half-sisters, Kathy Piccilli, Fresno, Calif., and Shirly Quest, Rochelle, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Weston Gates, Raven Gates, Carson Gates, Derrick Simms and Randi Simms.
Funeral is Friday at 2 p.m. at the New Life Cathedral in Hoxie with Bro. Rick Anglin officiating and Bro. Chuck Fitzgerald assisting. Burial will be in the Warm Springs Cemetery at Warm Springs under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.
Pallbearer will be Delbert Robins, Tommy Moore Jr., Doug Moore, Junior Jarrett, Tracy Moore and Alex Smith.
Visitation is Thursday evening from 6 to 8.
Ambaro Estrada Gonzales
Ambaro Estrada Gonzales, 78, of Imboden, died April 8, 2003, at her home.
Born in Mexico, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Roldolfo Estrada Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, and Richard Ceruantes, Apple Valley, Calif.; five daughters, Maria Hancock, Imboden, Margarita Item and Antonia Gonzales, both of Imperial, Calif., Josefinna Gonzales, California, and Rachel Proctor, Tucson, Ariz.; several grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
No services are planned. The body was cremated. McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas had charge of arrangements.
Olive Lucretia Harper
Olive Lucretia Harper, 85, of Ravenden, died April 10, 2003, at the Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehabilition Center.
Born Nov. 25, 1917, in Louisiana, she was the daughter of Ovid and Florence Dunham Flowers. She was a homemaker and of the Jehovah's Witness faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Otis Harper, in 1993, whom she married in 1940; two brothers, Ovid Flowers and Walter Flowers; and a sister, LaFaye De Lagrange.
Survivors include a son, Coleman Lawrence Allen, Ravenden; a sister, Beatrice Anderson, Crowville, Ind.; a brother, Clarence V. Flowers, Bastrop, La.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday at 2 p.m. at Opposition Cemetery in Ravenden. Higginbotham Funeral Service had charge of arrangements.
Samuel Dee "Sammie" Harris
Samuel Dee "Sammie" Harris, 58, of Jonesboro, stepfather of Brittany Schmidt and Bryan Farmer, both of Walnut Ridge, died April 11, 2003, at his home. Private services were under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Mary Angeline Holder
Mary Angeline Holder, 85, of Ravenden, died April 10, 2003, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.
Born April 5, 1918, in Batesville, she was the daughter of Robert and Nancy Elizabeth Dunnigan Guilliams. She was a homemaker and a member of the Opposition Church of Christ in Ravenden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Layton Stanley Holder, on April 1, 1985, whom she married April 23, 1943, near Ravenden; an infant son, Layton Stanley Holder Jr.; a sister, Marie Matthews; and a grandson, Johnny Leroy Gann.
Survivors include a daughter, Agnes Trivitt, Highland; three sons, James Robert Goff, Sacramento, Calif., George Stanley Holder, Myrtle, Mo., and Coy Burt Holder, Ravenden; two sisters, Josephine Jones, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Dorothy Guilliams, Pocahontas; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Imboden Church of Christ with Danny Wells officiating. Burial was in Opposition Cemetery at Ravenden. Higginbotham Funeral Service had charge of arrangements.
Louise Jones
Louise Dawson Jones, 79, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Jonesboro, died April 11, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born April 17, 1923, in Smithville, she was the daughter of Oscar and Mabel Dawson. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wincel Jones, on Jan. 8, 2002, whom she married Jan. 17, 1941, in Jonesboro.
Survivors include two daughters, Annette Denton, Phoenix, Ariz., and Adriene Pinter, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Billy Joe Dawson, Abilene, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Higginbotham Chapel with Bro. Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery at Lynn under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
Ethel Lingo
Ethel Lingo, 95, of Walnut Ridge, died April 11, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born in Illinois, she was the daughter of Louis and Lelar Fann Neidinger. She lived in Pocahontas and Portia before moving to Walnut Ridge 60 years ago. She had served as deputy county clerk for Lawrence County, had worked for the Employment Security Division in Walnut Ridge for 12 years and had served on the Lawrence County Cooperative School Board. She had been active in the Lawrence County Home Demonstration Club for many years and was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Walnut Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Leonard Lingo, on June 1, 1978, whom she married Feb. 16, 1929; and a sister, Carrie Broadway.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Coker, Walnut Ridge; a grandson, David Coker, Walnut Ridge; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Coker and Will Coker, both of Walnut Ridge.
Funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. at the Main Street Church of Christ with Dr. Bobby Coker and Junior Briner officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Mike Coy, Junior Briner, Gary Kearby, Dan Coker, Jimmy Snapp and Leroy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Ponder Jr., Dr. Ralph Joseph, Dick Jarboe and Milton Smith.

Floy Passmore
Floy Passmore, 85, of Bono, died April 13, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Jonesboro.
Born in Leslie, she had lived in Bono most of her life and was of the Baptist belief.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Passmore; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, Edna Holder, Bono, Madge Scalf, Paragould, and Martie Mae Allen, Alicia; four sons, Lester Randolph Passmore Jr. and Bobby "Jake" Passmore, both of Bono, Jimmy Dale Passmore, Hoxie, and Donald Ray "Joe" Passmore, Jonesboro; a sister, Joetta Scott, California; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday at 3:30 p.m. in Trinity Cemetery with Bill Thornton officiating. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Donald Rieder
Donald Rieder, 77, of Walnut Ridge, died April 9, 2003, at V.A. Medical Center in Memphis.
Born in Wisconsin, he had lived in California and Illinois before moving to Walnut Ridge nine years ago. He was a retired electrical engineer and World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Rieder; two daughters, Judy Lindsey, Basalt, Colo., and Kathy Kildow, Walnut Ridge; a son, Jason Marik, Walnut Ridge; a nephew, Ronnie Bowen, Rockford, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Cemetery near Portia with Ted Shields officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Irene Pearl Smith Roberts, 82, of Hot Springs, died April 14, 2003, at her home. Funeral is Thursday at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Ida. Graveside services will be Thursday at 5 p.m. at Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock.

H.L. Stephenson
H.L. Stephenson, 82, died April 14, 2003, at Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Born July 3, 1920, in Dyersburg, Tenn., he was the son of Homer Lloyd and Eula Eason Stephenson. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Teamsters.
He was preceded in death by a sister and six brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Erma "Dale" Massey Stephenson; four sons, Rick Stephenson, Sarasota, Fla., Terry Stephenson, Harrison, Mich., Timothy Stephenson, Lexington, Ky., and Mark Stephenson, Alabama; a daughter, Susan Stevens, Sarasota, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. in Bryan Chapel. Burial will be in Old Lebanon Cemetery, near Lynn, under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Mitchell Lynn White, 23, of Imboden, died April 12, 2003.
Born July 28, 1979, in Pocahontas, he was the son of James Allen and Deborah Lynn Malone White.
Survivors include his parents; four brothers, Shawn Allen White, Fort Lewis, Wash., James Shannon White, Ravenden Springs, Chris Anthony White, Swifton, and Timothy Ryan White, Imboden; his grandparents, Herbert and Gladys Malone, Imboden, and grandmother, Mickie Harris, Texas.
Funeral was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Jerry Clements officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Annieville under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Sloan Whitlow
Sloan Whitlow, 52, of Pocahontas, died April 11, 2003, at his home.
Born near Strawberry, he lived in Oklahoma before moving to Pocahontas 20 years ago. A Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a self-employed mechanic and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. and Lillie Drury Whitlow; a brother, Charles; and a son, Jake Harner.
Survivors include his wife, Louise McCameron Whitlow; a daughter, Rosetta Carol Walker, Rogers; two sons, Robert Sloan Whitlow, Rogers, and Dennis Eugene Barrett Whitlow; Pocahontas; a brother, Billy Bob Whitlow, Pocahontas; five sisters, Rachel Willie Mae Jones and Phyllis Rena Jones, both of Smithville, Genell Miller, Stanbury, Mo., Carolyn Ann Willett, Black Rock, and Lanetta Rose Norwood, Pocahontas; and four grandchildren.
Funeral was Monday at 1 p.m. in the House-Gregg Chapel at Lynn with Jim Smith and Cindy Riley officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery at Lynn under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn.
