Clinton W. Schoch
Senior Master Sgt. Clinton W. Schoch, U.S. Air Force retired, age 71, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away at Destin Health Care on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000.
Mr. Schoch was born in Albrightsville, Pa., and moved to this area in 1965 from Japan. He retired from the Air Force in 1973 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nobuko; sons, David and wife Watana of Shalimar, Fla., Thomas of Fort Walton Beach, and Donald and wife Jeri of Fort Walton Beach. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Kristine, Karie and Stephanie; great-granddaughter, Ariel; eight brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home with Dr. Howard L. Gates officiating. Burial will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida; or to First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Destin Health Care and Hospice for the excellent care Mr. Schoch received during his illness.

Harryotte F. Burgess
Harryotte F. Burgess, age 90, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Oct. 29, 2000, in a local hospital.
She was born in Charleston, S.C., on Sept. 20, 1910, to Peter and Cecile Fick, and had lived in Fort Walton Beach for the past 30 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Walton Beach, and Daughters of American Revolution. She also worked with the American Red Cross for over 50 years and was a circle leader at First Presbyterian Church and past church historian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Donald Burgess.
She is survived by her son, Judge John Burgess and wife Beverley Sharp Burgess of Springfield, La.; grandchildren, Margaret Stotesbury Burgess of Perry Point, Md., and John Robert Burgess Jr. of Seattle.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Walton Beach with Dr. Jack Walchenbach officiating. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be members of the St. Andrew's Society.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Andrew's Society of Okaloosa County; or to the Education Trust Fund, Daughters of American Revolution.

James C. Boles
James C. "Jim" Boles, age 71, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, after an extended illness.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Isaiah and Eula Boles of Florala, Ala. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shirley Boles of Fort Walton Beach; children, Rick, Randy and Kenneth Hollon; daughter-in-law, Vicki Hollon; and grandchildren, Richard Ross Hollon and Lauren Danielle Hollon.
Jim was a member of the Masonic Fidelity Lodge 685 of Florala; Hadji Shrine Temple of Fort Walton Beach; and Eastern Star 202 of Fort Walton Beach. He was retired from civil service and was a small business owner.
The things Jim enjoyed the most were hunting, fishing and spoiling his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at McLaughlin Mortuary with the Rev. Ray Wilson officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Arnold B. Johnson
Retired Master Sgt. Arnold "Arnie" B. Johnson, age 81, of Milligan, Fla., passed away Oct. 26, 2000, at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 13, 1919, in Minneapolis to the late Olga and Per Albert Johnson. He was transferred to Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., in July 1969, and retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service. He made his home in Milligan in 1971.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Inger; and their three daughters, Karen Richards and husband Steve of Albuquerque, N.M., Barbara Lesley and husband Ben of El Paso, Texas, and Susan Schwartz and husband Larry of Wildomar, Calif.; brothers, Paul and Ole Johnson, both of Minneapolis, and M.N. and James Johnson of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Arnie requested cremation and burial of his cremains will take place at a later date.
The family will receive friends for a remembrance gathering at the Johnson home, 1643 Dad's Road, Milligan, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 9 p.m.

Shelton Boatwright
Retired Tech. Sgt. Shelton Boatwright, age 65, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Shelton was born on Feb. 12, 1935, in Canal Point, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Boatwright; and mother, Ruth Johnson of Miami.
He is survived by his sons, Larry Boatwright and Shelton Boatwright Jr., both of Miami, Cory Barnes of Fort Walton Beach; daughters, Sharon Boatwright of Miami, and Tosha Potter of Vernon, Fla.; special cousins, Bernadette Roberts and Bernadine Temple, both of Fort Walton Beach; his goddaughter, Erika L. McCalvin of Gilbert, Ariz.; son-in-law, Robert Potter of Vernon; grandchildren, Alicia, Marissa and Montreze Potter of Vernon; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
Mr. Boatwright retired in 1974 from Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., after serving 20 years in the U.S. Air Force.
In 1995, he retired from civil service in the area of civil engineering. He was a lodge member of Indian Mound Elks Lodge 1205. He held several positions, including House Chairman, Exalted Ruler and treasurer.
He continued to work with his lodge brothers up until his death.
Mr. Boatwright's active pallbearers will be Indian Mound Lodge Elks 1205. Honorary pallbearers are James McCalvin of Gilbert, Ariz., Carl Evans Sr., Joe Good and Theodore Johnson, all of Fort Walton Beach.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sherman Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.

Thomas L. Lathinghouse
Thomas L. Lathinghouse, age 79, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away at his home on Oct. 28, 2000.
He was born on Nov. 17, 1920, in DeFuniak Springs, the son of William Ross and Nell Pollard Taylor Lathinghouse. Mr. Lathinghouse was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs and attended Palmer Elementary.
He was a graduate of Walton High School and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida.
He served his country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Lathinghouse was active in the business and professional community of DeFuniak Springs, being associated with the local Chevrolet dealership in the same location for over half a century, and later as a partner in Triangle Chevrolet Buick Olds of DeFuniak Springs. He gave back to his community by serving in many areas of civic life, including treasurer of Associated Charities.
Tom was a devoted and loyal member of First United Methodist Church.
His church family remembers him as active in all areas of church life, serving on the various committees of church administration, such as the chairman of the Building Fund Crusade for the new sanctuary in 1967.
Members of the Busy Men's Bible Class recall the enlightening and meaningful lessons in the study of God's word as Tom taught the class not only in word but also in deed.
He enjoyed a relationship with his family, his church, his business associates and patrons, and his many friends as he lived out his life in the community he loved so much.
Mr. Lathinghouse was preceded in death by a brother, Ross Lathinghouse Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Spence Lathinghouse of DeFuniak Springs; son, Robert Gregory Lathinghouse and wife Joyce of DeFuniak Springs; daughter, Laura Lathinghouse Sullivan and husband Gene of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Frances Jones of DeFuniak Springs; sister-in-law, Virginia Lathing-house of DeFuniak Springs; grandchildren, Holly Gunning and husband Lance of Panama City, Fla., Taylor Lathinghouse, stationed with the U.S. Air Force at Hurlburt Field, Fla., Bethany Lathinghouse of Tallahassee, Fla., Nicolette Sullivan of Wilmore, Ky., and Carlyn and Thomas Sullivan, both of Mobile.
Five nieces and five nephews also survive.
