Wade Quentin Edmondson
Wade Quentin Edmondson, age 82, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2000.
He was born on July 12, 1918, in Headland, Ala., and lived in Blakely, Ga., before moving to Crestview in 1995. Mr. Edmondson was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Westview United Methodist Church in Blakely.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Williams Edmondson; and son, Jimmy Lee Edmondson.
Survivors include his daughter, Judith Brinkley of Crestview; brother, John Edmondson; sister, Ann McDowell; grandsons, Todd Gay and Jeff Gay of Crestview; three granddaughters, Lee Grimes, Jill Edmondson and Amy Edmondson; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Manry-Jordan Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely. Burial will follow in Blakely Cemetery.

Inez E. Josey
Inez E. Josey, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 7, 2000.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Savannah, Ga., and a member of Bull Street Baptist Church and the Pilot Sunday school class. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church; and formerly employed as a salesperson for Belk's and Hogan's department stores.
She was the widow of the late Alfred Lee Barton and Ralph W. Josey.
Survivors include her son, Robert Elkins of Valparaiso, Fla.; daughter, Betty E. Stanford of Midway, Ga.; grandchildren, Maj. Mark S. Stanford of New Mexico, David Lee Stanford of Williamsburg, Va., William Otis Stanford II of Midway, and Robert G. Stanford of Summerville, S.C.; stepgrandchildren, Pam Bridges of Savannah, Donald E. Martin Sr. of Orlando, Fla., Richard D. Martin Sr., and Leon C. Martin of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel with burial in Greenwich Cemetery. Remembrances to Bull Street Baptist Church or Hospice Savannah Inc.

Eric Rhodes
Eric Rhodes, age 21, of the Clear Springs community, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000.
He was born on July 16, 1979, in Milton, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Clear Springs, Fla. Eric was a 1997 graduate of Paxton High School, where he played baseball and was active in his community and sports. He attended Okaloosa-Walton Community College and worked in landscaping.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Cindy and Lamar Davis of Clear Springs, Fla.; father and stepmother, Barry and Wanda Rhodes of Milton; sisters, Misty Killebrew of Jackson, Miss., and Deborah Rittiner of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, Doug Rhodes and Sean Rhodes, both of Pensacola; maternal grandmother, Annette Hollowell of Molino, Fla.; maternal grandfather, Ed Thurston of Molino; paternal grandmother, Ruby Rhodes of Milton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, in the chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with the Rev. Jay Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Springs Cemetery.

Esther A. Sayer
Esther A. Sayer, age 86, of Mary Esther, Fla., died peacefully in a local hospital on Dec. 6, 2000.
She was born on Feb. 25, 1914, in West Virginia and grew up in the Chicago area. She served the British-Leyland Motor Co. for 30 years around the country as a district office manager before retiring in 1980.
She was a blessing to her surviving brother, Frank Sayer of Green Valley, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Doug Murphy; her beloved granddaughters, Tara and Megan Murphy of Mary Esther; and nephew, Myron Christiansen of Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The family will receive family and friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Welcome Center of First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach. A memorial service will begin at 5:45 p.m.

Duke Roberts
Duke Roberts, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., at the age of 95.
He was a retired major in the Louisiana East Baton Rouge parish Sheriff's office. In addition to his duties as a civil deputy he also served as a liaison officer for the sheriff and the Baton Rouge Flotilla.
He was born on Nov. 9, 1905, in Llano, Texas, to Myrtle and Arthur Roberts, the eldest of six children. In 1923, at the age of 18, he served as a member of Company H 144th Infantry of the National Guard at Austin, Texas.
Prior to moving to Baton Rouge, La., in 1941, he and his family lived in Shreveport, La., and Centralia, Wash. During the 1940s he owned and operated Duke's Cake Shop, Duke's Doughnut Shop and Baton Rouge Cooks and Bakers School, all located in Baton Rouge.
After retirement from the east Baton Rouge Sheriff's office in 1972 he moved to Toledo Bend Lake near Many, La., where he remained for 25 years. He was an avid Louisiana sportsman and fisherman, supporting many organizations and groups that enhance these activities, including Ducks Unlimited and many others.
He was a 32nd degree Shriner, maintaining a membership with the Capitol Masonic Lodge 399 in Baton Rouge for over 50 years. He moved to Destin, Fla., with Irene T. Roberts, his wife of 70 years, in 1997 to be with his son, J. Duard Roberts and his family.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, J. Duard and Essie Anderson Roberts; three grandchildren, Rhonda Clark, Buddy Roberts and Lori Moore; and great-grandchildren, Karrie Delise, Jason Roberts, Jeff Roberts and Katie Moore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene T. Roberts; parents, Myrtle and Arthur Roberts; brothers, Arthur, Ernest Garland and H.T. "Sonny" Roberts; and sister, Virginia Joyner.
Services will be graveside at Beal Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday.

Dawn Poston
Dawn Poston, age 59, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in a Pensacola hospital.
She was born in Crestview, Fla., on Jan. 25, 1941, to Alexander P. and Lillie Maltezos. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
Mrs. Poston was a loving mother, grandmother and a good friend to many people. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Poston. She is survived by her mother, Lillie Hughes of Pensacola; son, Kerry Poston and wife Robyn of Pensacola; grandchildren, Kristyn, Kyle and Kolyn Poston of Pensacola; aunt, Lola Maltezos of Destin, Fla.; and cousins, Dale Maltezos of Destin, Carmen Maltezos of Niceville, and Bobby John Maltezos of Destin.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the funeral home.

Mildred W. Campbell
Mildred W. Campbell, age 80, of Crestview, Fla., died late Thursday night, Dec. 7, 2000, in Crestview.
She was a native of Alabama; a public school teacher in Santa Rosa County, Fla., for many years, and had resided in Crestview for the past 44 years, where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Campbell, and is survived by her son and his wife, David and Camille Campbell of Crestview; daughter, Donna Lou Campbell of New Mexico; sister, Minnie Dee Strother of Camden, Ala.; granddaughters, Holly Dunnington (Seth) and Shelly Campbell; and grandson, Sage Campbell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, in the chapel of Donnie Sowell Funeral Home in Milton with the Rev. Durl Odom officiating. Burial will be in Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery near Chumuckla.

Arthur R. Golightly
Arthur "Bud" R. Golightly, age 82, of Mary Esther, Fla., passed away in a local hospital Friday, Dec. 8, 2000.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1918, in Chaffee, Mo. He was a resident of the local area since 1981 when he moved here from Clearwater, Fla. Bud was an active member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV and AMVETS. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army he also had been wounded.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Myrtle; brothers, Fred and Harold Golightly, both of Chaffee; and sister, Francis Snifner, also of Chaffee.
Family and friends may call at a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Little Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Little Chapel Funeral Home. The American Legion and VFW will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.

Donald John Ralph
Donald John Ralph, age 63, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Ralph was born on Aug. 15, 1937, in Lakewood, Ohio, to John Campbell Ralph Jr. and Marie Eleanor (Jacoby) Ralph. He moved to Okaloosa County, Fla., in 1992 after living in Cleveland for many years. Mr. Ralph was a graduate of Fenn College of Engineering and was a retired chemical engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Joyce Ralph of Crestview; son and daughter-in-law, Brian James and Linn Ralph of Medina, Ohio; daughter, Laura Jean Ralph of Bell Buckle, Tenn.; and brothers and their wives, Robert Dennis and Natalie Ralph of Las Vegas, and Thomas James and Susan Ralph of Macedonia, Ohio.

Christopher Sanders
Christopher James Sanders, 18, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully at Sacred Heart Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, after a courageous bout with cancer.
Chris was a senior at Choctawhatchee High School and was employed part time at the Golden Almond Health Food Store and Taco Bell. He was born in Fort Walton Beach on Oct. 5, 1982. Those of us who had the joy of knowing Chris believe that our lives will never be the same. He touched our hearts and souls with his loving heart and his laughter.
Christopher gained attention during his illness through local newspaper coverage of his struggle and through local fund-raisers on his behalf. Many people were touched by his story and gave of their time and money to be of service during his illness. Chris and his family were moved by the kindness shown, and are forever grateful to all those who so willingly gave.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital - Arlene and Hoagy Carmichael, Mary "Kacey" Taylor, Lee Kafeety and others for their love and support of Christopher and his family.
