Gladys M. Robinson, age 89, of North Canton, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at home. Born in Louisville, August 20, 1911, she was the daughter of the late James and Ida (Potter) Bergert. She retired from North Canton City Schools with over 30 years of service; was a member of Stark County and North Canton Retired Teachers Association; and was a Jennings Scholar and graduate of Kent State University where she was active in it's Alumni Association. She was a volunteer at both Mercy and Aultman Hospitals, Stark County Meals on Wheels and a member of Zion United Church of Christ, North Canton. She was a loving mother of daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie Klarl and Harry Wynns of Denver, CO., and Carol and Jack Frient of North Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Jim Robinson and Lana Norwood of Austin, TX; and the loving grandmother of grandchildren, Jason Klarl, Andrew Robinson, Jerilyn (Michael) Vespoli, Noah (Megan), Timothy, Renita, Sarah, Erin, Katherine, Andrew, Anna, Jacob, RebeKah Frient; and great-grandson, Nicholas Vespoli. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Edward James Robinson in 1956. Harvey A. Hiddleson, age 60, of Canton, OH, passed away Wednesday evening in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Minerva, OH, on June 3, 1940, he was a former employee of the Holiday Inn at Belden Village and had worked for 23 years at Echo Housewares. He currently was employed at Grady McCauley, Inc. in North Canton, where he was named employee of the year in 1998. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Canton. Preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Rebecca Hiddleson; and a sister, Romona Edgel. Survivors include his wife, Janice (Zinn) Hiddleson of the home; his son, Lanny Hiddleson of Canton; two brothers, Donald and James Hiddleson, both of Carroll Co., OH; and two sisters, Sue Rivers of Ithaca, NY and Edith Erv of Milwaukee, WI. John S. Barcich, age 86 of Canton went home to be with the Lord Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Columbus, OH., May 22, 1915 and had lived here in Canton most of his life. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. he was retired from Ekro as Punch press Operator. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the army. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena Barcich; one brother, Anthony Barcich; and two sisters, Mary Kompara and Ann Gauze. He survived by his wife, Valia (Ricci) Barcich with whom he was married for 57 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda of Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Larry Ackerman of Bolivar, OH; one brother, Joseph Barcich of Canton; three grandchildren, Michelle and Lisa Barcich, Nicholas Ackerman. Julia J. Polsinelli, age 78, of Canton, fought a courageous battle for 13 weeks with her family and her extended family. The family wishes to give thanks to CVS-ICU and CCU Staff of Mercy Medical Center for not only treating her as a patient but also as a friend. She passed away on Tuesday afternoon. She was a life resident of Canton, a graduate of McKinley High School in 1940, she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church of Canton, she was a former employee of Buxbaum Co. for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband, August Augie Polsinelli Sr., on July 2, 1989; her parents, Samuel and Minnie (Gennett) Piccari; brother Ronald Piccari; brother-in-law, Paul Simile; and sister-in-law, Angeline Piccari. Scott was also a charter member of the Oberlin Civil War Society. He enjoyed reading, golfing and boating. She was the last charter member of Bethel Lutheran Church and a member of the Martha Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late James and Grace Barnhill and a brother, Ralph Barnhill. Audrey Marie Kelley, age 70, of Navarre, died Thursday evening in Massillon Community Hospital after a short illness. She was retired from Nickles Bakery with 22 years of service. Audrey was a former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was presently a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. For 11 years she had been very helpful as secretary for her husband and Boy Scout Troup #928 which was sponsored by the Navarre Kiwanis Club. Survived by her husband, Earl Lemoine Kelley, to whom she had been married 51 years; two sons, Kenneth Alan Kelley and his fiancee', Bev Bradley of Canton and Gary M. Kelley of Gainesville, FL; a grandson, Jason Alan Kelley; a sister and brother-in-law, Jinx and Jeff Smith of Canton; a sister-in-law, Gladys Burkhart of New Rumley. David W. Matthews, age 37, of Perry Twp., passed away Thursday evening at his residence following a long illness. Dave was born March 6, 1964 in Coshocton, OH to William and Kathryn (Sommers) Matthews and moved to the Massillon area in 1968. In 1982, he graduated from Perry High School and served his country in the Air Force. David retired as a Massillon Policeman and from the Department in 2000. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the United Lutheran Society. He is survived by his wife, Melanie (Bednar) Matthews of the residence with whom he shared eight years of marriage on October 24th; daughters, Emily Matthews, Erica Matthews both of the residence; parents, William Bill and Kathryn (Sommers) Matthews of Massillon; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Rod Boester of Delaware, OH; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Holly Matthews of Bolivar; grandmother, Ila Sommers of Clark, OH; father and mother-in-law, Andy and Millie Bednar of Massillon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Robin and Scott Shoemaker of Massillon, Gail and Jeff Lombardi of Canton; and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn Patterson Lecky, pass-ed away Thursday, May 31 at the Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek. Eldon Trubee D.M. officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Gardens in Canton. She was born in Millersburg to Guy and Gertrude Findlay Patterson August 5, 1908. She married Virgil Lecky of Holmesville, OH on April 6, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1981. A daughter, Carol Jane Keck (Mrs. Thomas) died in 1985. Surviving are granddaughter, Wendy Ellison and her husband, Richard, and great-grandchildren, Carolyn, Benjamin, and Michael of Thurmont, MD; and grandson, John Keck and wife, Lonnie of Akron. She also leaves behind sisters, Dorothy Stallman, Della Ramseyer, and sister-in-law, Louella Patterson of Walnut Hills Retirement Home; brother, Dr. Owen Patterson and wife, Mildred of Millersburg; sister-in-law, Edith Herman of Tampa, FL; and son-in-law, Thomas R. Keck of North Canton. Preceding her in death were brothers, R.J. Patterson and Roy Patterson of Millersburg and Wilda Weiss of Sugarcreek, with whom she had lived 12 years before they both went to retirement homes. She and her husband had owned and operated an IGA grocery store in McDonaldsville, OH for ten years, after which she was the secretary in the Jackson Local Schools. She also had been the secretary and organist at the St. Paul Methodist Church in McDonaldsville and the Methodist Drive Church in Palmetto, FL. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Millersburg, a 60 year member and Past Matron of the Canal Fulton Chapter #180 O.E.S., a former Grand Representative of Grand Jurisdiction of Alberta, Canada in Ohio, Buckeye Links of Ohio and Kate DeWeiss of District 13 of Ohio O.E.S.
