JOHN DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT WASHINGTON COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ON APRIL 3, 1999, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF EIGHTY-THREE YEARS, SEVEN MONTHS AND SEVEN DAYS.
JOHN WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO THE LATE LUCILLE (GOHEEN) SCOTT ON SEPTEMBER 5, 1936, IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, AND TO THIS UNION TWO SONS WERE BORN.
JOHN IS SURVIVED BY TWO SONS, EDWARD SCOTT AND WIFE SHIRLEY OF IRONDALE, ROBERT SCOTT OF IRONDALE, FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, THIRTEEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, THREE GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS AND SPOUSE HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, WILMELINE SCOTT AND ONE SISTER RUTH VINEYARD.
JOHN HAD DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO THE TEACHINGS OF THE LORD, HIS PERSONAL SAVIOR, AND WAS A DEVOTED READER OF THE HOLY BIBLE. JOHN HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR LIFE, AND ENJOYED FAMILY AND FRIENDS AT ALL TIMES. JOHN LOVED TO TAKE TIME OUT OF HIS DAY AND GO TO THE RESTAURANT FOR COFFEE AND VISIT WITH HIS MANY FRIENDS.
VISITATION WAS HELD TUESDAY, APRIL 6, 1999, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT THE GUM & SON FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7, 1999, AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE GUM & SON CHAPEL WITH REVEREND PHYLLIS ANDERSON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN LEADWOOD CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF GUM & SON FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.

WILLIAM. E. "BILL" POLHEMUS OF CADET, MISSOURI WAS BORN AT OLD MINES, MISSOURI ON APRIL 16, 1934. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE STEVEN A. AND BERNICE M. (BOYER) POLHEMUS. BILL DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT THE WASHINGTON COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN POTOSI, MISSOURI ON OCTOBER 30, 2002 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SIXTY EIGHT YEARS, SIX MONTHS AND FOURTEEN DAYS.
HE IS SURVIVED BY FIVE SISTERS, MARGARET MAXWELL AND HUSBAND RALPH, LOUISE ROY AND HUSBAND GERALD AND CATHERINE SCHRUM ALL OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, MARY SENGHEISER AND VIRGINIA BADER OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, BROTHER-IN-LAW, ELWOOD BARTON OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, DEAR FRIENDS, TERESA AND BOB PORTELL AND FAMILY OF OLD MINES, MISSOURI, GODDAUGHTER, ELIZABETH SENGHEISER OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA AND MANY OTHER NIECES, NEPHEWS AND OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY TWO SISTERS, RUTH BARTON AND ROSALIE POLHEMUS, TWO BROTHERS-IN-LAW, JACK BADER, JOHN SENGHEISER.
BILL WAS A MEMBER OF THE POTOSI ELKS LODGE #2218 AND ALSO A THIRD DEGREE MEMBER OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS #5936. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ST. JOACHIM CATHOLIC CHURCH AND ENJOYED BASEBALL, HUNTING AND BEING AROUND KIDS. BILL WILL BE LOVINGLY MISSED BY HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
VISITATION WAS HELD 3:00 PM TO 9:00 PM ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2002 AND 8:30 AM TO 9:40 AM ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2002 AT THE MOORE MEMORIAL CHAPEL IN POTOSI.
A FUNERAL MASS WAS CELEBRATED 10:00 AM ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2002 AT THE ST. JOACHIM CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER TED PIEPER OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN THE ST. JOACHIM CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE JERRY COURTWAY, TOM BOYER, JASON BONE, PAUL BOYER, PAT TALLIS AND JAKE MILLER.

MARY LOU VAUGHN
MARY LOU VAUGHN OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI WAS BORN AT POTOSI, MISSOURI ON JANUARY 11, 1934. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE ERNEST AND ETHEL (JENNINGS) WALTON. MARY DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT HER HOME ON OCTOBER 28, 2002 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SIXTY EIGHT YEARS, NINE MONTHS AND SEVENTEEN DAYS.
MARY WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO BILL VAUGHN ON FEBRUARY 21, 1953 AND TO THIS UNION FIVE CHILDREN WERE BORN. BILL PRECEDED HIS WIFE IN DEATH ON MAY 13, 2001.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY TWO DAUGHTERS, CAROL RICHIE AND HUSBAND CHARLES OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI AND LISA RESIM AND HUSBAND NATHAN OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, THREE SONS, DAVID VAUGHN AND WIFE DEANNE OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, JAMES VAUGHN AND WIFE LESLIE OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI AND GERALD VAUGHN AND WIFE SUSAN OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ONE SISTER, JEAN BERRY AND COMPANION CHARLES OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN, THREE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND MANY NIECES, NEPHEWS, OTHER RELATIVES AND A HOST OF VERY GOOD FRIENDS.
MARY ENJOYED MANY THINGS IN HER LIFE. SHE ENJOYED COOKING AND GARDENING. SHE WAS A DECORATOR AND A SEAMSTRESS. SHE LIKED PLAYING CARDS AND WRITING POETRY. MARY LOVED HER FAMILY TO THE FULLEST AND WILL BE LOVINGLY MISSED BY ALL HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
VISITATION WAS HELD 3:00 PM TO 4:00 PM ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2002 AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.

JOHN S. KLINE OF POTOSI, MISSOURI WAS BORN AT SULLIVAN, MISSOURI ON AUGUST 17, 1913. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE JACOB REUBEN AND SUSAN (HOPKINS) KLINE. JOHN DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT HIS HOME IN POTOSI, MISSOURI ON NOVEMBER 1, 2002 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF EIGHTY NINE YEARS, TWO MONTHS AND FIFTEEN DAYS.
JOHN WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO DEBRA WESTON ON AUGUST 9, 1990 IN POTOSI, MISSOURI.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, DEBRA KLINE OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, ONE SON, JOHN WAYNE KLINE AND WIFE BRENDA OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, TWO STEP SONS, SCOTT LIGHT AND WIFE SARAH OF POTOSI, MISSOURI AND BRADLEY LIGHT OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, ONE STEP DAUGHTER, DANIELLE LIGHT OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, ONE BROTHER, LAWRENCE "LARRY" KLINE AND WIFE ELIZABETH "ZIPPER" OF SULLIVAN, MISSOURI, THREE GRANDCHILDREN, BILLY, SHAWN AND ROXANNE, ONE STEP GRANDSON, CLAYTON LIGHT. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS, JOHN WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FIRST WIFE, FRANCIS KLINE, WHO PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH IN 1983, SIX SISTERS AND TWO BROTHERS.
JOHN HAD SERVED HIS COUNTRY IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY FROM JANUARY 1942 TO DECEMBER 1945. HE ATTAINED THE RANK OF SERGEANT DURING HIS TERM. HE HAD RECEIVED MANY HONORS INCLUDING EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN THEATER RIBBON WITH TWO BRONZE STARS. JOHN WAS A LIFE TIME MEMBER OF THE DISABLED AMERICAN VETERAN ASSOCIATION.
JOHN HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR LIFE AND ESPECIALLY SPENDING TIME WITH HIS FAMILY. JOHN WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO LEND A HAND, SET A SPELL OR JUST BE PRESENT TO HELP A FRIEND. PRIOR TO HIS RETIREMENT, JOHN WAS A PIPE FITTER FOR LOCAL #137. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE POTOSI ELKS LODGE, BPOE #2218. JOHN TOOK GREAT PRIDE IN FARMING AND WAS ALWAYS PROUD OF HIS COWS. HIS PRIDE CONTINUED WITH HIS LOVE FOR GARDENING. JOHN WAS ALWAYS WILLING AND EXCITED WHEN SOMEONE MENTIONED GOING TO THE MERAMEC RIVER, HE ENJOYED SPENDING LAZY DAYS WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS AT THE MERAMEC RIVER.
VISITATION WAS HELD 6:00 PM TO 9:00 PM ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2002 AND 10:00 AM TO 1:45 PM ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2002 AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED 2:00 PM SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2002 AT THE CROSSROADS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CHURCH WITH BROTHER CARL WILSON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN THE ODD FELLOWS CEMETERY IN SULLIVAN, MISSOURI UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE SKIP WESTON, WAYNE WESTON, JOHN PORTELL, MIKE WESTON, HARRY BROWN AND JOSH PORTELL.

ELIZABETH (AKERS) SMITH
ELIZABETH ANN SMITH OF BONNE TERRE, MISSOURI WAS BORN AT FARMINGTON, MISSOURI ON DECEMBER 19, 1911. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE WILLIAM HADLEY AND CORA ELIZABETH (McCLINTOCK) AGNEW. ELIZABETH DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT THE POTOSI MANOR IN POTOSI, MISSOURI ON NOVEMBER 8, 2002 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF NINETY YEARS, ELEVEN MONTHS AND TWENTY DAYS.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY TWO SONS, KENNETH C. AKERS AND WIFE BEVERLY OF BONNE TERRE, MISSOURI AND WILLIAM J. WARD AND WIFE CHARLOTTE OF WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA, ONE SISTER, CORA D. COX OF JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI AND TEN GRANDCHILDREN. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HUSBAND, JOHN CHARLES WARD, HUSBAND, J. CLYDE AKERS AND HUSBAND ARTHUR W. SMITH, ONE DAUGHTER, ALICE ANN TROKEY, TWO BROTHERS, WILLIAM "W.F." AGNEW AND FLOYD AGNEW AND ONE GRANDSON, JOHN CLYDE AKERS.
ELIZABETH WAS A HARD WORKING WOMAN WHO ENJOYED MANY THINGS. SHE AND HER HUSBAND ARTHUR OWNED THE SMITH FUNERAL HOME FROM 1958 TO 1961. SHE ALSO WORKED FOR HER HUSBAND, J. CLYDE AKERS IN THE ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM. ELIZABETH WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
VISITATION WAS HELD 2:30 PM TO 8:00 PM ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2002 AND 9:00 AM TO 11:00 AM ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2002 AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.

JAMES DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT THE MINERAL AREA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN FARMINGTON, MISSOURI ON NOVEMBER 11, 2002 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF FIFTY NINE YEARS, EIGHT MONTHS AND TWENTY THREE DAYS.
HE IS SURVIVED BY ONE DAUGHTER, DIANA THOMPSON AND HUSBAND MARC OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI AND FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, EMILY, ELAINA, RACHEL AND KATIE THOMPSON ALL OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI.
JIM WAS A LOVING AND CARING MAN. HE ENJOYED HIS PRIVACY, RELAXING AND READING A GOOD BOOK OR WORKING OUTSIDE IN HIS GARDEN. JIM WORKED AS A TROUBLE SHOOTER FOR AT&T COMMUNICATIONS IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI FOR MORE THAN TWENTY EIGHT YEARS. HE WILL BE LOVINGLY MISSED BY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
