KINGSPORT - Billie Bowlin Bennett, 68, 497 Gravely Road, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday (Aug. 22, 2002) at Greystone Health Care, Blountville, after a brief illness.
She was a charter member of Gravely Baptist Church, where she played piano for many years, taught Sunday school and ministered to others in the community. She was very involved in many aspects of the church.
Mrs. Bennett was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dana and Grace Beuris Bowlin; husband, William Bennett; and a son, Mike Bennett.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Randall Bennett and wife, Kathy, Murfreesboro, Greg Bennett and wife, Beverly, Kingsport, Terry Bennett and wife, Sarah, Kingsport and Ron Bennett and wife, Julie, Kingsport; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Gravely Baptist Church.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor David Sally and the Rev. Ralph Crawford officiating.
Music will be by Carolyn Sakowicz.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Cemetery. Family and friends wishing to go in the procession are to meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m.

He was born in Sullivan County.
Mr. Cross was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church and was retired from Eastman Chemical Co. following over 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Ellen Cross; one daughter, Martha Jane Cross Todd; three brothers, Campbell Cross, Robert W. Cross and Harry Leland Cross.
Surviving are his son-in-law, Joe Todd, Kingsport; two grandsons, Johnny Todd, Nashville, Tenn., and Joey Todd, Kingsport; special niece and nephew, Theresa Jelley and Wayne Cross; and many other nieces and nephews.

Born in Sullivan County on May 24, 1944, he was a son of Grover Easler and Eunice Bloomer Easler. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, member of the King Soloman Lodge No. 704 AF&AM, member of the Shriners and Last Mans Club, Bessemer City.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife of 39 years, Mary Lovens Easler, of the home; sons and wives, Michael and Donna Easler, Gastonia, N.C., Richard and Cindy Easler, Kings Mountain, N.C.; brother and sister, the Rev. Oscar L. Easler and Joann Peterson, both of Bessemer City; and four grandchildren.

BLOUNTVILLE - Edward C. "Ed" Frye, 73, passed away Thursday (Aug. 22, 2002) after a long illness at the Hospice House in Bristol.
Ed was born May 18, 1929 in Saltville, Va., a son of the late Willie and Carrie (Atwood) Frye.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, a former Tennessee State Trooper and worked for the L.M. Berry Co. for 10 years.
He attended Blountville United Methodist Church.
Ed is survived by his wife, Barbara Maupin Frye, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, J. Paul and Gena Frye, Piney Flats; grandson, Preston Frye, Piney Flats; granddaughter, Jordan Frye, Piney Flats; a sister, Melba Sword of Baltimore, Md.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles B. and Brenda Frye, Curtis L. Frye, all of Saltville, Va.; special nephews, Jeffrey Frye, Saltville, Va., and Willie Frye, Kingsport; also other nieces and nephews.

KETTERING, Ohio - Theodore B. Light, 80, died Monday (Aug. 19, 2002) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.
He was born in Baileyton, Tenn., but had resided in Ohio for more than 60 years. He served in Europe as a member of the 11th Armored Division during World War II.
He was employed at Master Electric and later spent a number of years in real estate. He was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church.
