VANDALIA, Ohio - Kathy M. Collie, 78, formerly of Norton, Va., passed away Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) in Dayton, Ohio, after a short illness.
She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Murlin Heights.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Younce and Edith Asbury; and one brother Scott Musick.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph and wife, Kathy Musick, Gate City, Va., and Harry and wife, Pat Snodgrass, Vandalia, Ohio; one sister, Ruth Cooper; two brothers, Lee and Clifford Musick; four grandchildren, Doug Musick, Heather Hass, Jennifer Blevins and Patrick Snodgrass; two great-grandsons, Tyler Hass and Derek Blevins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at First Pentecostal Church of Murlin Heights in Dayton, Ohio.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Edward Ralston officiating.
Burial will be in Poplar Hill Cemetery.

Pearl Cooper, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Services for Geneva Pearl Cooper, who passed away on Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, with the Rev. Allen K. Brummett officiating.
Calling hours are from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Carl Ray Dockery, 79, Ft. Blackmore, Va.
FT. BLACKMORE, Va. - Carl Ray Dockery, 79, entered into rest Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2001) at Ridgecrest Nursing Home, Duffield, Va.
Mr. Dockery was born July 7, 1922 and was the son of the late Melvin Dockery and Ava Lawson Dockery. He was a member of Gillenwater Chapel Baptist Church and retired from Tennessee Eastman Company.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lizzie Summey; and three brothers, Ben, Bob and Wrightly Dockery.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Young Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; daughter, Sheilah Dockery Markham, Coeburn, Va.; three sisters, Ruth Booher, Ruby McNutt Dingus and Eve Summey, all of Kingsport; grandson, Ryan Markham, Coeburn, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and also many friends.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home, and also at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Walker Darnell and the Rev. Luther Presley officiating.
Music will be provided by the Lee Smith Singers.
Burial will follow the service at Lawson Memorial Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, Va.
Benny McNutt, James "Babe" Lawson, Billy Lawson, Jr., Daniel Dean, Eddie Dean and Lonnie Ramey will serve as pallbearers.
Herman Dean, Lucian Lawson, Gary Dockery, Mack Summey and Paul Summey will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Carl Robert George, 74, Sioux Falls, S.D.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Carl Robert George, 74, formerly of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Dayton, Ohio, passed away Monday (Sept. 3, 2001) at Luther Manor Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, S.D., after a hard fought battle with Parkinson's disease.
Carl was born in Wise County, Va., on March 17, 1927, the son of the late Robert Lesco George and Bessie Kate Salyer George. He was a retired lab technician with Chrysler Corporation, Dayton, Ohio, with 34 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Central Christian Church in Dayton, Ohio, where he was a Sunday School teacher and deacon.
Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil George; and his sister, Inez Booher.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Marcella; daughters and sons-in-law, Dale and Corby Kasten, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Diane and Jon Klaaren, Yorktown, Va.; grandchildren, Chris and Amy Kasten, of Colorado, Jeremy and Nicky Kasten, of South Dakota, and Suzanne Klaaren, of North Carolina; five great-grandchildren, Maddie, C.J., Benjamin, twins Cole and Raeanna; three devoted sisters, Betty and Henry Gill, Richmond, Va., Paula Dickerson, Johnson City, and Jean and W.C. Fraley, Knoxville. His extended family includes brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilma and Bill Nein, Miamisburg, Ohio, Clarice and Earl Groseclose, Lakeland, Fla., Nancy and Jim Kilgore, Big Stone, Gap, Va., Charles and Barbara Livingston, Lakeland, Fla., and Johnny and Mary Alice Livingston, Gloucester, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and loved ones.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Ted Faulconer officiating.
Burial will follow in the American Legion Cemetery.

Hattie Juanita Henry, 79, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Hattie Juanita Henry, 79, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday morning (Sept. 4, 2001) at Sunbridge-Hillside Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Sullivan County, Tenn.
Ms. Henry was a member of the Way of Life Baptist Church. She was a retiree of Eastman Chemical Company after 34 years of service.
Prior to her declining health, Hattie always found time for helping others who were sick or in need. She ministered to residents at the nursing home, before she became a resident. Hattie was a caregiver for many years for several family members. She will be greatly missed by a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William R. Henry and Lula Penley Henry; brothers, Worley Ballard, William Grady, Lucian Arvel, Samuel, Rayford, Thomas, Everett; sisters, Maggie Maudell, Clara Bell, Mabel Priscilla, Velma Ruth.
Surviving are her sisters, Lilly Irene Hillman, Defiance, Ohio, and Gladys Hillman, Mechanicsville, Va.; her brother, John Henry, Gate City, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Oak Hill Funeral Home, and anytime at the home of her brother, John Henry, 522 Anderson Circle, (East Carters Valley Road), Gate City, Va.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnny Gibson officiating.

Ernest E. Holt Jr., 78, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Graveside services for Ernest E. Holt Jr., 78, who died Tuesday morning (Sept. 4, 2001), will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, downtown, with Dr. Ron Davis and Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Margaret P. Hutson, 79, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - Margaret P. Hutson, 79, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2001) at Church Hill Health Care Center after an extended illness.
Mrs. Hutson was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Hutson; two sons, Marcel Hutson and Cecil Hutson; daughter, Carolyn Murray; her parents, Willie and Bessie Senton; sisters, Lora Begley and Stella Hutson; brothers, Emory Benton and Fred Benton.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth Hutson, Kingsport, and Edward and Mazell Hutson, Rogersville; daughter-in-law, Jane Hutson, Mount Carmel; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Cora Benton, Leona Smith and Ethel Barnette, all of Church Hill; two brothers, Mack Benton and Fred Benton, both of Church Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home, Church Hill, and anytime at the residence of her sons, Henry Hutson and Ed Hutson.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at McPheeters Bend Cemetery.

Graveside services for Mamie Clarice Light, 85, of Kingsport, formerly of Rogersville (Beech Creek community), who died early Tuesday morning (Sept. 4, 2001), will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at Morrison Cemetery in Rogersville.
Those planning to attend the graveside service should meet at the cemetery by 9:45 a.m. today.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

American Legion Color Guard Hammond Post No. 3 will serve as pallbearers.

Ronald Lee Mullins, Erwin.
ERWIN - Mr. Ronald Lee Mullins, 150 Polk Street, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) in the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Mullins was a Norton, Va., native but had lived in Erwin since 1963. He was a son of the late Leonas and Grace Church Mullins.
Mr. Mullins was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was employed by CSX Transportation as a conductor for 38 years.
Mr. Mullins was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the Erwin Centennial Lodge No. 491 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna Sue Cantrell Mullins, of the home; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gary W. Mullins and Darrell and Charlene Mullins, all of Norton, Va.; one sister, Barbara Kay Mullins, Norton, Va.; special goddaughter, Ashleigh Brooke Duncan; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ledford Funeral Home, Erwin, and other times at the residence of Ernest and Mildred Duncan, 850 Rock Creek Road, Erwin.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, Erwin, with the Rev. Harold Blankenship, the Rev. Howard Messer and the Rev. Bernie Jones officiating.
Music will be provided by Joshua and Kristie Baer and Sheila Benedetto.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin.
Full military graveside rites will be rendered by the Kingsport VFW Post No. 3382.

All pallbearers are requested to assemble at the church by 12:30 p.m. Friday.

William Eugene Poe, 71, West Jefferson, N.C.
WEST JEFFERSON, N.C. - William Eugene Poe, 71, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) at the Watauga Medical Center.
Mr. Poe was born Oct. 10, 1929 in Ashe County to Elisha and Effie Mae Mash Poe.
Surviving are his wife, Allene Jones Poe; three sons, Tim Poe and wife, Helen, Apex, N.C., Mike Poe and special friend, Patty, West Jefferson, N.C., and Jeff Poe, Boone, N.C.; one daughter, Renee Bolick and husband, Ron, High Point, N.C.; one brother, Roy Poe, Kingsport; grandchildren, Amanda and Joshua Poe and Rachel Bolick; and special family friend, Joy Poe.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Badger Funeral Home, West Jefferson, N.C.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ken Morris officiating.

Nell G. Sams, 87, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Nell G. Sams, 87, went to be with the Lord at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) at Indian Path Medical Center after suffering a stroke.
Born in Scott County, Va., she had resided in Kingsport most of her life. Mrs. Sams was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She was loved by all whom she met.
She was a member of Hales Chapel Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her husband, Kyle Sams; two sisters; and two brothers preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Portia Sams, Kingsport; three grandchildren, Brenda Sams Clear, Tammy Sams, Richard Sams; three stepgrandchildren, Amy Lyman, Ellen Cother, Hardy Lane; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hales Chapel Christian Church, 280 Hales Chapel Road, Gray, or any time at the home, 742 Liberty Church Road, Kingsport, or any time at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the church with minister Clinton Andrews and the Rev. Ronald D. Hicks officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

Carl A. Sellers, 53, Wise, Va.
WISE, Va. - Carl A. Sellers 53, passed away Thursday (Aug. 30, 2001) at his home in Wise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Sellers and Carrie Sellers Hutchins; and a brother, Jake Sellers Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Sherri Sellers and Lesley Hubbard, both of Lorain, Ohio; one son, Carl A. Sellers Jr., Lorain, Ohio; seven sisters, Carolyn Ramsey, Lincolnton, N.C., Ruth Hammonds, Kingsport, Katherine Powers, Marion, Ohio, Brenda Gilliam, Smyrna, Tenn., Patsy Coffey, Prospect, Ohio, Aline Powers and Vernie Clark, both of Wise; and six grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or services at Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Norton, Va., with the Rev. Rick Mullins officiating.
Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the services.

Donald Lee Ward, 62, Stickleyville, Va.
STICKLEYVILLE, Va. - Donald Lee Ward, 62, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) at his residence.
Born in Stickleyville, Va., on May 31, 1939, he was the son of the late Tommy Lee and Louise Orick Ward.
He worked as a processor for a meat company and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Admant Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald Lee "Little Don'' Ward; two brothers, Bobby Ward and Billy Ward; two sisters, Frances Million and Eva Jean Beverly.
Surviving are his wife, Billie Carter Ward, Stickleyville, Va.; one daughter, Tammie Ward Parks and husband, Charlie, Stickleyville, Va.; one granddaughter, Brittanie Parks; one brother, Tommy (T.L.) Ward and wife, Gaye, Kingsport; five sisters, Shirley Rutherford, Peggy Cridlin and husband, Lawrance, all of Jonesville, Va., Irma Lou Laster and Geraldine Mullins, both of Stickleyville, Va., and Betty Ann Million, Kingsport.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Sturgill Funeral Home, Pennington Gap, Va.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Kenneth Ellis officiating.

LAUREL, Md. - Services for Golda Roller Ward, 95, of 8814 Church Field Lane, who went home to be with the Lord on Sunday (Sept. 2, 2001), will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Church Hill, with the Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.
Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ward will be returned to Baltimore, Md., for burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
