He was a Vietnam veteran. He loved to read and enjoyed cycling.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Collins Sr.; mother, Margaret Collins Jenkins; stepfather, Silas Jenkins; brother, Eddie Collins; nephew, Chris Collins; and brother, Roger Jenkins.

Helen was a member of Oakwood Forest Christian Church and a member of the Greater Kingsport Women's Republican Party.
She was employed with Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center for 25 years.

Allen Hendrickson, 63, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - James Allen Hendrickson, 63, died Saturday (July 20, 2002) at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, he served from 1956 to 1960 with the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of ETSU and received a master's degree from Ole Miss.
He was a member of Colonial Heights Christian Church.
Mr. Hendrickson was assistant principal at Blountville Middle School before becoming principal of Rock Springs Elementary School. He worked for the Sullivan County School System for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
He served on the Bays Mountain Park Commission, 911 Emergency Board and the Sullivan County Industrial Board. He was a life member of the Sullivan County Rescue Squad, life member of the Parent Teachers Association, and a County Commissioner for 10 years. He was a member of TASSA, NEA, TEA, SCEA and ETEA.
His parents, John and Georgia Hendrickson; and brother, Mark Douglas Hendrickson preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Laurleen Hendrickson of the home; one daughter, Jill Allyn Cunningham, Kingsport; stepdaughter, Sherry Light, Knoxville; stepson, Brian Light and wife Brooke, Kingsport; and one sister, Toni Smith and husband Lonnie, Kingsport.

Born in Vermont, she had made her home in Kingsport for over 25 years. She was retired from the State of Tennessee and was a registered nurse with the Sullivan County Health Department.
She was a member of Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Emslie and Verna Pye Emslie.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William Scott Kilgore and wife Tammy Kilgore, Church Hill; one granddaughter, Chenoa Graham Kilgore, Church Hill; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

KINGSPORT - Glenda Sue Pearcy Miller, 53, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday (July 21, 2002) at her home following a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Glenda was born in Sullivan County and lived in Kingsport her entire life. She attended Lynn View High School and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School.
She was a previous member of the Holston Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Prior to her illness she was employed by Caldwell Banker Real Estate.
Glenda was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church and attended Gravely Baptist Church.

Born in the Rye Cove community of Scott County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Miles E. and Carrie Davidson Taylor.
She was a former employee of J. Fred Johnson Department Store and was also a CNA with Holston Valley Hospital.
She was of the Baptist faith.

ELIZABETHTON - Paula M. Solomon, 57, 805 Cedar Avenue, died Saturday (July 20, 2002) at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Sullivan County, Mrs. Solomon lived most of her life in Carter County. She was the daughter of the late William Paul and Lovely Marie Lyon Solomon.
Mrs. Solomon was of the Methodist faith.
She was a retired schoolteacher having taught in the Carter County schools and the Lift Academy. She was also a homebound teacher for 14 years.
Mrs. Solomon graduated from Lynn View High School, Kingsport, in 1962 and graduated from ETSU in 1980 with a B.A. in education. She was the co-founder of the Carter County Literacy Program.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robin Wayne Forbes, March 1999.
Survivors include a special brother-in-law and spouse, Roger and Mary Forbes, Elizabethton; special friends and soul mates, Linda and Bill Bowling, Rita Ford and Lisa Botts, all of Elizabethton, and Jo Volcker, Bristol, Tenn.
