KYLES FORD - Joann Baker, 72, passed away Thursday (May 9, 2002) at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Willie Livesay; and sister, Mary Kinsler.
Survivors include her husband, Ray A. Baker of Kyles Ford; sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn Carlos and Lori Baker of Memphis, Ray A. Jr. and Nola Jean Baker of Beech Bluff, Tenn.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Woods and Helen Woods, both of Jefferson City, Tenn., Judy Baker of Talbott, Tenn., and Lorene Branch of Morristown; brothers, Kermit Livesay and Ray Livesay, both of Talbott, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of McNeil Funeral Home, Sneedville, with the Rev. Donnie Shaw officiating.
Interment will be in the Baker Cemetery, Kyles Ford.

Norma was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of Dickenson County Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Baxter (Jack) Sturgill and Mary Sturgill.

KINGSPORT - Geneva Dowling Brown, 66, passed away Saturday (May 11, 2002) at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol after an extended illness.
She was born in Grayson County, Va., and retired from Parks Belk. She was a member of Rock Heritage Baptist Church.
Her husband, T.R. Brown, mother Ida Todd Dowling Bates, father, Sidney Dowling, stepfather, Willie Bates, 16 brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Ray, Bulls Gap, Sandra Brown, Kingsport; a son, Teddy brown, Kingsport; special grandchildren, Larissa Clark, Latrica Yates, Latondra Yates, Nick Hammonds, Chris Hammonds, Alex Miller; brothers, Sidney Dowling and wife Vada, Bassett, Va.; and a host of very special nieces and nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Judy was born on February 14, 1947 in Lee County, Va., and was preceded in death by her parents, George and Beaulah Stapleton Patrick.
She was a member of the First General Baptist Church, S. Chicago Heights, Ill.

CLINCHPORT, Va. - Mr. John Henry "Toots" Cox, 73, entered into rest on Saturday (May 11, 2002) at the residence of his son in Blountville.
Mr. Cox was born in Scott County Va., on August 14, 1928, a son of the late Joseph Henry and Lula Peters Cox.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Beatrice Cox; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Hill; and his brother, Lonzo Cox, preceded him in death.

KINGSPORT - Rev. Clyde Griffin, 83, passed away Saturday (May 11, 2002) at Asbury Center at Baysmont after a brief battle with cancer.
He was a long time resident of Sullivan County and retired from Tennessee Eastman Co.
He spent most of his time as a lay pastor. Springdale Baptist Church began in his basement and he pastored Vernon Heights Baptist Church, Beech Creek Baptist Church, Mill Creek Baptist Church and Solomon's Temple Baptist Church.
His beloved wife, Cora, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his son, Dr. Dan Griffin and wife Fay, Memphis; granddaughters, Gina Griffin, Memphis, and Lisa Griffin, Arlington, Va.; special niece, Gerry Dishner; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was a native of Scott County, Va. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1956, and retired as foreman from Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Pierson in 1954 and Nannie Davidson Pierson in 1991; two sisters, Georgia Faye Beard Light in 1994 and June Pierson Gray in 1998.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Glen Paul Pierson and wife Claudine, Saltville, Va.; grandchildren, Candy, Sabrina, Jonathan, Aimee and Marelena; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Donavin and Austin; sister, Jean Pierson, Weber City; devoted nephew, Wayne Pierson, Weber City; several nieces and nephews.

Born in Washington County (Johnson City), he moved to Kingsport in 1931. He was employed at Tennessee Eastman Co. and retired from Kingsport Press as a security guard after years of service.
He attended Pleasant View Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Stevens Prillhart; son, Douglas Ray Prillhart; parents; three sisters, Virgie Hicks, May Prillhart and Georgia Maples; five brothers, Marshall, Joe, James, Ireland and Lee Prillhart.
Surviving are three daughters, Ms. Wanda Speier, Tusone, Ariz., Ms. Lynda Joyce Willey, Seaford, Del., and Ms. Wilma Jean Fleck, Tusone, Ariz.; one son, Bobby Allen Prillhart, Seaford, Del.; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Manley, Charlottesville, Va., and Mrs. Dolan (Verna) Cantrell, Titusville, Fla.; two brothers, Earl "Jiggs" Prillhart and wife Elizabeth, Johnson City, and Emory Prillhart and wife Lola, Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
