Ruth Stanley Boggs, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Ruth Stanley Boggs, of Blue Bell Drive, died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Jenkins, Ky., she moved to Kingsport in 1950. She was employed in a local business as a bookkeeper and accountant prior to retirement.
She attended Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Boggs was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Avis Boggs; and second husband, William E. Larkins.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Ms. Ava Boggs Fleenor, and Kathy Boggs Hunsaker and husband Richard, both of Kingsport; two sons and daughter-in-law, Rod Boggs, and David Boggs and wife Vicki, both of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Jessica Waller, Shad Boggs, Rodney Boggs, Kevin Fleenor, Chris Fleenor and Austin Boggs; one great-grandchild, Cassie Fleenor; two sisters, Ms. Nora Gibson and Ms. Helen Stanley, both of Kingsport; two brothers, Charles Stanley, North Huntingdon, Pa., and Jim Stanley, Chandler, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ronald Hicks and the Rev. Charles Senior officiating.
Music will be provided by Bob Brickey.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shad Boggs, Rodney Boggs, Kevin Fleenor, Chris Fleenor, Bill Parker and Daniel Jennings.

Eliza J. Carroll, 84, Mooresburg.
Services for Eliza J. Carroll, 84, 1380 Hwy. 31, Mooresburg, who died Thursday (July 11, 2002), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Spruce Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Epps, the Rev. Dayton Lovin and the Rev. Billy Carroll officiating.
The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Lovin Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Crawford, Daniel Martin, Rodney Webb, Bobby Heck, Jason Carroll and Mark Carroll.
Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Lucy Myrtle Carter, 79, Gate City, Va.
Services for Lucy Myrtle Carter, 79, Gate City, Va., who went to be with the Lord Thursday evening (July 11, 2002), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Ewing Chapel on the Grounds of Community Fellowship Baptist Church, Gate City, Va., with Pastor John Sheppard officiating.
Judy McConnell will be the pianist and Bob Blackstock will be the soloist.
Burial will be in the Morison Cemetery in Rye Cove.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of Community Fellowship Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Community Fellowship Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1407, Gate City, Va.
Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.

Hazel Cookenour, 79, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Hazel Juanita (Bates) Cookenour, 79, 637 Branch St., who went to be with the Lord at 8:30 a.m. Thursday (July 11, 2002), will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be given to Pentecostal Powerhouse, Route 1, Box 206, Gate City, Va. 24251.

Gwendolyn Graves, 91, Bristol, Tenn.
BRISTOL, Tenn. - Gwendolyn Dawkins Graves, 91, 113 Ridgewood Road, died Saturday (July 13, 2002) at NHC Healthcare of Bristol.
She was born in Kirksville, Mo., a daughter of the late Jesse Mack and Mary E. Slaughter Dawkins. She was the widow of Dr. William H. Graves.
She and her husband moved to Bristol in 1940 to open his medical practice. Mrs. Graves was a music teacher in the public school system for many years. She was a longtime Sunday School teacher and was involved in missions at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Bluff City.
Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Thompson and her husband Tal, Bristol, Gwendolyn Jeanne Stringer and her husband Mike, Portland, Oreg., and Ellen Christine Carrico and her husband Ron, Bristol; a brother, Bill Dawkins, Keokuk, Iowa; granddaughter, Beth Hollingsworth and her husband Rusty, of Kentucky; six grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Bill Thompson, Paul David Thompson, Scott Biller, Robert Biller, John Stringer and Jeff Stringer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, Northeast Tennessee Chapter, 207 North Boone Street, Suite 1500, Johnson City, Tenn. 37604.

Berchie Gray, 84, Kingsport.
Services for Berchie Alexander Gray, 84, Kingsport, who went peacefully to be with her Lord at 3:15 a.m. Friday morning (July 12, 2002), will be conducted at 5 p.m. today in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Holtzclaw and the Rev. Gale Hartley officiating.
Calling hours are from 4 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home and anytime at the home of her daughter, Julia Archer.
Entombment will be in the East Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Elbert V. Ireson Sr., 72, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Elbert Vance Ireson Sr., 72, Kingsport, who died Thursday morning (July 11, 2002), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Thomas F. Johnson, 85, Castlewood, Va.
CASTLEWOOD, Va. - Thomas F. Johnson, 85, died Saturday (July 13, 2002) in the Russell County Medical Center.
Born March 31, 1917 in Russell County, a son of the late Charles Johnson and Nannie Couch Johnson, he was a retired carpenter and farmer who loved gardening. He was a member and trustee of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bascom Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beulah Johnson; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tom Johnson, Piney Flats, and Lynn and Pat Johnson, Bristol, Va.; four grandchildren, Lisa Gail Johnson, Kristy Johnson Peltier, Matthew Lynn Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson Rush; three great-grandchildren, Hailey Layne Rush, Kennedy Katherine Peltier and Korby Devin Johnson; three sisters, Elizabeth Brown, Lebanon, Va., Jean Shaffer, Hansonville, Va., and Eleanor Harrell, Kingsport; also several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Combs Funeral Service in Lebanon, Va.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Killen officiating.
The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service.
Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Johnson, David Johnson, Mark Edmonds, W.J. Dorton Jr., Bobby Dorton, Ron Peltier, Dan Rush, Jerry Johnson and Sidney Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and Dr. Ernest Henry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, Rt. 2, Box 16P, Castlewood, Va. 24224.

Paul Kesterson, 65, Baileyton.
BAILEYTON - Paul Kesterson, 65, died at 2 a.m. Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Mt. Home V.A. Medical Center.
Mr. Kesterson was a retired master sergeant from the Army after 23 years of service and also retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center.
He was a Vietnam veteran and received the James A. Carroll Award while in the Army. He was also a member of Baileyton Masonic Lodge #520, Baileyton Eastern Star #319 and Baileyton Ruritan Club.
Mr. Kesterson was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Flora Kesterson; daughter, Debra Kesterson; brothers, Earl Kesterson and Roy Kesterson; sister, Dorothea Gibson.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy R. Kesterson of Baileyton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vona and William Colyer of the Camp Creek community, and Barbara Sensabaugh of Baileyton and Randy Sensabaugh of Baileyton; three grandchildren, Tommy Sensabaugh, Krista Sensabaugh and Sarah Sensabaugh, all of Baileyton; one brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Irene Kesterson of Rogersville; sister-in-law, Marie Kesterson of Louisville, Ky.; special friends, Ed and Ramona Austin; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jeffers Mortuary in Greeneville. Baileyton Masonic Lodge #520 and Baileyton Eastern Star #319 will conduct a Masonic and Eastern Star service at 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Zion United Methodist Church.
The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before the service.
VFW Post 1990 and American Legion Post 64 will be in charge of military graveside services at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. Chaplain Carlton J. Fuller will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Harry Cochran and Hugh Shipley.
Honorary pallbearers will be men of Zion United Methodist Church, doctors and nursing staff at Mt. Home V.A. Medical Center.

Graveside services for Harry B. Lackey, Jr., 56, Rogersville, who passed away Thursday (July 11, 2002), will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in Highland Cemetery.
Christian-Sells Funeral Home, Rogersville, is serving the Lackey family.

Steven W. Lott, 43, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Steven Willard Lott, 43, Kingsport, who went to be with the Lord Wednesday (July 10, 2002), will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in East Lawn Memorial Park, Garden of Everlasting Life III.
East Lawn Funeral Home is serving the family of Steven Lott.

Bobby Outlaw, 68, Bristol, Va.
BRISTOL, Va. - Bobby Outlaw, 68, died Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Wellmont Hospice House.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced through Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.

Woodrow Robinette, Mount Carmel.
MOUNT CARMEL - Graveside services for Woodrow O. Robinette, who passed away Tuesday (July 9, 2002), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Church Hill VFW Post #9754 with Lt. Col. Dana Fields officiating.
