KINGSPORT - Ruth Stanley Boggs, of Blue Bell Drive, died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Jenkins, Ky., she moved to Kingsport in 1950. She was employed in a local business as a bookkeeper and accountant prior to retirement.
She attended Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Boggs was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Avis Boggs; and second husband, William E. Larkins.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Ms. Ava Boggs Fleenor, and Kathy Boggs Hunsaker and husband Richard, both of Kingsport; two sons and daughter-in-law, Rod Boggs, and David Boggs and wife Vicki, both of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Jessica Waller, Shad Boggs, Rodney Boggs, Kevin Fleenor, Chris Fleenor and Austin Boggs; one great-grandchild, Cassie Fleenor; two sisters, Ms. Nora Gibson and Ms. Helen Stanley, both of Kingsport; two brothers, Charles Stanley, North Huntingdon, Pa., and Jim Stanley, Chandler, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ronald Hicks and the Rev. Charles Senior officiating.
Music will be provided by Bob Brickey.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shad Boggs, Rodney Boggs, Kevin Fleenor, Chris Fleenor, Bill Parker and Daniel Jennings.

The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Lovin Cemetery.

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Gwendolyn Dawkins Graves, 91, 113 Ridgewood Road, died Saturday (July 13, 2002) at NHC Healthcare of Bristol.
She was born in Kirksville, Mo., a daughter of the late Jesse Mack and Mary E. Slaughter Dawkins. She was the widow of Dr. William H. Graves.
She and her husband moved to Bristol in 1940 to open his medical practice. Mrs. Graves was a music teacher in the public school system for many years. She was a longtime Sunday School teacher and was involved in missions at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Bluff City.
Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Thompson and her husband Tal, Bristol, Gwendolyn Jeanne Stringer and her husband Mike, Portland, Oreg., and Ellen Christine Carrico and her husband Ron, Bristol; a brother, Bill Dawkins, Keokuk, Iowa; granddaughter, Beth Hollingsworth and her husband Rusty, of Kentucky; six grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery.

CASTLEWOOD, Va. - Thomas F. Johnson, 85, died Saturday (July 13, 2002) in the Russell County Medical Center.
Born March 31, 1917 in Russell County, a son of the late Charles Johnson and Nannie Couch Johnson, he was a retired carpenter and farmer who loved gardening. He was a member and trustee of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bascom Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beulah Johnson; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tom Johnson, Piney Flats, and Lynn and Pat Johnson, Bristol, Va.; four grandchildren, Lisa Gail Johnson, Kristy Johnson Peltier, Matthew Lynn Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson Rush; three great-grandchildren, Hailey Layne Rush, Kennedy Katherine Peltier and Korby Devin Johnson; three sisters, Elizabeth Brown, Lebanon, Va., Jean Shaffer, Hansonville, Va., and Eleanor Harrell, Kingsport; also several nieces and nephews.

BAILEYTON - Paul Kesterson, 65, died at 2 a.m. Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Mt. Home V.A. Medical Center.
Mr. Kesterson was a retired master sergeant from the Army after 23 years of service and also retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center.
He was a Vietnam veteran and received the James A. Carroll Award while in the Army. He was also a member of Baileyton Masonic Lodge #520, Baileyton Eastern Star #319 and Baileyton Ruritan Club.
Mr. Kesterson was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Flora Kesterson; daughter, Debra Kesterson; brothers, Earl Kesterson and Roy Kesterson; sister, Dorothea Gibson.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy R. Kesterson of Baileyton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vona and William Colyer of the Camp Creek community, and Barbara Sensabaugh of Baileyton and Randy Sensabaugh of Baileyton; three grandchildren, Tommy Sensabaugh, Krista Sensabaugh and Sarah Sensabaugh, all of Baileyton; one brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Irene Kesterson of Rogersville; sister-in-law, Marie Kesterson of Louisville, Ky.; special friends, Ed and Ramona Austin; several nieces and nephews.
