FRENCH AND WIFE LORETTA OF MILLERSVILLE, MISSOURI; ELEVEN GRANDCHILDREN, FIFTEEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; A VERY DEAR FRIEND MARGIE MERHTENS OF POTOSI, MISSOURI AND MANY NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS AND OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. RUTH WAS A HOMEMAKER AND WORKED WITH MR. FRENCH IN ESTABLISHING THEIR BUSINESS, FRENCH GARAGE IN THE 1950'S. THEY BRANCHED INTO SELLING OLIVER TRACTORS AND IMPLEMENTS AND DOING REPAIRS AS WELL AS CONTINUING AUTO REPAIR. RUTH ALSO WORKED AS A BOOKKEEPER FOR THE GARAGE, A TOBACCO COMPANY IN CAIRO, ILLINOIS AND AT WESTER BAPTIST HOSPITAL IN PADUCAH, KENTUCKY.
VISITATION WAS HELD THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2003 FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 11:00 A.M. AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI, MISSOURI.

EDWARD THOMAS
EDWARD THOMAS OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI WAS BORN WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 1932 IN PILOT KNOB, MISSOURI A SON OF THE LATE EDWARD AND CLARA ELIZEBETH (BARNES) THOMAS. EDWARD ENTERED THE GATES OF HEAVEN FROM HIS HOME, SURROUNDED BY HIS DEAR AND LOVING FAMILY AND FRIENDS THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2003 AT THE AGE OF SEVENTY-ONE YEARS, FOUR MONTHS AND NINE DAYS.
EDWARD WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO KATHY PYATT JUNE 26, 1969 IN FARMINGTON, MISSOURI. THEY WERE BLESSED TO HAVE THIRTY-FOUR YEARS WITH EACH OTHER. EDWARD'S DEATH WAS A SPECIAL HOME COMING FOR HIM AS HE KNEW HIS ANNIVERSARY WITH KATHY WAS VERY DEAR TO HER.
EDWARD IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING AND CARING WIFE, KATHY THOMAS OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI; ONE DAUGHTER, KATHY SNIDER AND HUSBAND CARL OF TROY, MISSOURI; FIVE SONS, RICK THOMAS AND WIFE JACKIE OF CUBA, MISSOURI, TERRY THOMAS AND WIFE MYRA OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI, MIKE THOMAS OF IRONDALE, JOE THOMAS AND WIFE PATTY OF BELGRADE, MISSOURI, EDWARD THOMAS AND WIFE TRACY OF PARK HILLS, MISSOURI; ONE STEP SON, TERRY KAVANAUGH AND WIFE DARLENE OF BONNE TERRE, MISSOURI; SEVENTEEN GRANDCHILDREN; EIGHT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; A VERY GOOD BUDDY AND CO- WORKER, TERRY BECK OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS, EDWARD WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE DAUGHTER, PAM THOMAS; TWO SISTERS, GINNY BRUHN AND EDRA JAMES AND ONE BROTHER, ROY THOMAS.
EDWARD HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR LIFE, HE ENJOYED EVERY MOMENT SPENT WITH HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. HE LOVED TO DANCE AND ALWAYS GAVE IT HIS ALL TO TRY TO KEEP UP WITH KATHY, KNOWING SHE WOULD OUT DANCE HIM EVERY TIME. DURING HIS YOUNGER YEARS HE LOVED TO PUT ON THE ROLLER SKATES AND GO FOR A ROLL. EDWARD WAS ALWAYS READY TO PLAY A GAME OF POOL OR PICK UP THE HORSE SHOES FOR A ROUND. HE HAD A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN HIS HEART FOR MOTHER NATURE AND ENJOYED ALL OF HER MANY GIFTS, HE TOOK GREAT PRIDE WHEN HE COULD GO FISHING OR DEER HUNTING WITH HIS SONS AND GRANDSONS. EDWARD WAS A VERY BIG FAN OF BASEBALL AND ENJOYED PLAYING AND WATCHING THE GAME, HE WAS ESPECIALLY PROUD OF HIS MARK MCGUIRE WALL OF FAME KATHY HAD PUT TOGETHER FOR HIM.
EDWARD STARTED WORK AT THE MINES WHEN HE WAS TWENTY-FOUR YEARS OLD AND REMAINED A FAITHFUL EMPLOYEE FOR TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AS A HIGH BACK TRIMMER. EDWARD THEN WORKED FOR THE CITY OF IRONDALE DOING ANYTHING NEEDED AND DEDICATING HIS TIME WITH HIS GOOD BUDDY TERRY BECK. EDWARD NEVER FAILED TO RAISE HIS HAND AND WAVE TO A FRIEND OR STRANGER, IF HE WAS DIGGING, CUTTING BRUSH OR PLOWING SNOW.
EDWARD WAS A KIND AND LOVING MAN THAT ALSO HAD A VOICE OF AUTHORITY, HIS FAMILY KNEW HIS LOVE AND KNEW THEIR LIMITS. THE MEMORIES WILL CONTINUE EVERYDAY AS WE CONTINUE TO SHARE THEM. EDWARD THOMAS, GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.

ALICE HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR THE GIFTS OF MOTHER NATURE AND ENJOYED SHARING THE BEAUTY OF HER FLOWER GARDEN WITH ALL. SHE WAS ALWAYS READY FOR VISITORS AND WOULD ALWAYS COOK FOR THEM. ALICE HAD A GREAT TALENT OF SEWING AND WOULD GET THE NEEDLE AND THREAD OUT TO MAKE A GIFT OR FIX AN ITEM FOR HER FAMILY AT ANY TIME. SHE ENJOYED RELAXING WITH A GOOD BOOK OR OTHER ARTICLE TO READ.
HER WARM HEART AND TENDER ARMS WERE ALWAYS READY TO HEAR A PROBLEM OR SHOW HER LOVE TO MANY. SHE NEVER FAILED TO GIVE A SMILE OR SAY HELLO.

MUSIC WAS PROVIDED BY THE CHURCH CHOIR AND ANITA GOVERO. BURIAL WAS IN THE ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH Cemetery, TIFF, MISSOURI. SERVING AS PALL BEARERS WERE STEVE BOYER, MICHAEL BOYER, ROBERT BOYER, DANIEL TRAVERS, BENJAMIN DEGROAT AND CHRISTOPHER DEGROAT. RICHARD "RICK" JOSEPH COMPTON OF POTOSI, MISSOURI WAS BORN TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 1961 IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI A SON OF DONALD COMPTON AND PEGGY (POLITTE) GEISLER. RICK DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON SATURDAY, JULY 5, 2003 AT THE ST. LOUIS UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI AT THE AGE OF FORTY-TWO YEARS, FOUR MONTHS AND FIVE DAYS.
RICK IS SURVIVED BY HIS MOTHER AND STEP-FATHER, PEGGY GEISLER AND RALPH OF LAKE OZARK, MISSOURI; FATHER DONALD COMPTON OF POTOSI, MISSOURI; THREE HALF BROTHERS, FALLON COMPTON OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, GREG COMPTON OF PHOENIX, Arizona AND RALPH GEISLER II OF ARNOLD, MISSOURI; HIS PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER, BEATRICE BITTLE OF POTOSI, MISSOURI AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.
RICK ENJOYED TRAVELING ALL OVER THE WORLD, ESPECIALLY HIS TRIPS TO EUROPE AND ITALY. HE ALWAYS ENJOYED TAKING TIME WITH HIS MANY FRIENDS AND GO TO THE BOAT OR LAS VEGAS FOR A FUN OUTING. HE WAS AN AVID COMPUTERIST, ALWAYS WORKING TO FIND A NEW PROGRAM OR JUST TAKING TIME TO SERF THE WEB.
RICK WAS A 1979 GRADUATE OF THE POTOSI SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND CONTINUED HIS EDUCATION WITH FOUR YEARS OF COLLEGE. RICK ALWAYS HAD A SMILE, HAND SHAKE AND A GOOD WORD TO ANYONE HE MET, BE IT A STRANGER OR A LONG LOST FRIEND. HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED AND LOVINGLY REMEMBERED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM.

HUGHETTA ENJOYED QUIET TIME QUILTING AND SHARING HER ITEMS WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS. SHE WAS AN AVID HOT WHEELS AND PRECIOUS MOMENTS COLLECTOR. HUGHETTA ALWAYS CHERISHED THE TIME SHE SPENT WITH HER GRANDCHILDREN, EACH OF THEM HELD A VERY DEAR PLACE IN HER HEART.

BILL SERVED THIS GREAT COUNTRY IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY IN THE PRISONER OF WAR GUARD DETACHMENT SERVICE COMMAND UNIT 1747. HE WAS INDUCTED FEBRUARY 11, 1941 AND HONORABLY DISCHARGED NOVEMBER 8, 1945. HE RECEIVED THE AMERICAN DEFENSE RIBBON, THE AMERICAN THEATER RIBBON, ASIATIC PACIFIC THEATER RIBBON AND THE VICTORY MEDAL.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2003 AT 1 P.M. AT THE MOORE MEMORIAL CHAPEL WITH FATHER GEORGE GALOVICH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN THE CALEDONIA METHODIST Cemetery, CALEDONIA, MISSOURI. FULL MILITARY HONORS WAS PRESENTED BY THE WASHINGTON COUNTY V.F.W. POST 6996.
SERVICES WERE ENTRUSTED TO THE CARE OF MOORE FUNERAL HOMES, POTOSI, MISSOURI.
