A.J. WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO LORENE NASH ON JANUARY 30, 1981, IN FREDERICKTOWN, MISSOURI.
A.J. IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE, LORENE SAUNDERS OF CADET, THREE SONS, BILLY SAUNDERS AND WIFE SHIRLEY OF ST. PETERS, JOHNNY SAUNDERS OF ST. LOUIS, ADAM SAUNDERS OF CADET, ONE DAUGHTER, NORMA JEAN GROSS OF TROY, THREE STEP-SONS, FRANKIE CAIN AND WIFE DEBBIE OF MISSISSIPPI, RICKIE CAIN AND WIFE, JOANN OF TEXAS, BILLY CAIN AND WIFE LOU OF MISSISSIPPI, TWO STEP-DAUGHTERS, RITA BLACK AND HUSBAND JERRY OF POTOSI, VICKIE AKERS AND HUSBAND MITCH OF ANNAPOLIS, TWENTY-SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN, TWENTY- NINE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, ONE GREAT GREAT GRANDSON AND BY MANY OTHERS RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FIRST WIFE, VIRGIE SAUNDERS, TWO BROTHERS, LEWIS AND J.T. SAUNDERS, ONE SISTER, THELMA GREEN AND ONE HALF BROTHER, PAUL MALLOY.
A.J. WAS A HONORABLY DISCHARGED UNITED STATES ARMY VETERAN HAVING SERVED IN WORLD WAR II.
A.J AS HE WAS KNOWN TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS, WAS KNOWN FOR HIS MANY HOURS OF HARD WORK IN A DAYS TIME, HIS STRONG WILL TO TEACH GOOD VALUES IN LIFE AND A VERY SOFT SPOT IN HIS HEART FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE COMMUNITY. A.J. ENJOYED FISHING WORKING WITH ANIMALS AND WATCHING WRESTLING.
A.J. WAS A MEMBER OF LOCAL 513 OF THE OPERATING ENGINEERS UNION FOR FIFTY PLUS YEARS.
VISITATION WAS HELD THURSDAY, JANUARY 6, 2000, FROM 2:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED FRIDAY, JANUARY 7, 2000, AT 2:00 P.M. AT THE MOORE CHAPEL WITH BROTHER GENE DECLUE OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN SUNSET HILL CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, JOHN SAUNDERS, JOHN SAUNDERS, JR., JASON SAUNDERS, BRETT BARTON, LARRY SAUNDERS AND GARY SAUNDERS. SERVING AS HONORARY PALLBEARERS WERE, MARK SAUNDERS, EDDIE FEELER AND JEFF BARTON.
LEONARD EVERETT FITZWATER
EVERETT FITZWATER OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN JULY 26, 1921, IN BERRYMAN, MISSOURI, A SON OF THE LATE JAMES LEONARD AND SARAH (DOTSON) FITZWATER. EVERETT DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT JOHN COCHRAN HOSPITAL ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 7, 2000, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SEVENTY-EIGHT YEARS, FIVE MONTHS AND TWELVE DAYS.
EVERETT WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO DORIS LAVERN PARKS ON JULY 16, 1949, IN SHIRLEY, MISSOURI.
EVERETT IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE, DORIS LAVERN FITZWATER OF POTOSI, TWO SONS, ELVEN WAYNE FITZWATER AND WIFE PAULINE OF ST. CHARLES, LEONARD BRUCE FITZWATER OF POTOSI, FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, KELLY RAE, PATRICK EVERETT, SARAH BETH AND STEPHANIE BROOK, TWO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, RACHEL ANN AND KYRA, ONE BROTHER, JAMES LLOYD FITZWATER OF ST. LOUIS, THREE SISTERS, ADDIE GIBSON OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, MAY BRICKEY OF BERRYMAN, ALICE EYE OF POTOSI, HIS FIRST WIFE, GARNET TULLOCK AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE SON, JEFFREY LANE FITZWATER, ONE BROTHER, JOSEPH FITZWATER AND ONE SISTER, AVIS BLOUNT.
EVERETT HAD SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY FROM 1942 TO 1946, HE HAD RECEIVED THE PROMOTION OF SARGENT DURING HIS TENURE. EVERETT SERVED IN ANZIO BEACH, ITALY, WHERE HE AND HIS PLATOON EVENTUALLY BROKE INTO PO VALLEY FOR HEAVY FIGHTING. ON APRIL 29 EVERETT AND HIS PATOON WERE PICKED UP BY TANK AND AGAINST HIS BETTER JUDGEMENT HE WAS FORCED TO TAKE SEAT ON THE OUT SIDE OF THE TANK, THEY THEN ENCOUNTERED A LAND MINE AND EVERETT WAS SERIOUSLY WOUNDED. HE SPENT THE NEXT YEAR AND A HALF IN DIFFERENT HOSPITALS FINALLY ARRIVING IN SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI WHERE HE WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED.
EVERETT ENJOYED THE SPECIAL TIMES HE SPENT WITH HIS GRANDCHILDREN AND THE MANY HOURS SPENT WITH HIS FRIENDS. HE LOVED TO TAKE TIME AND WORK IN HIS YARD AND VEGETABLE GARDEN.
EVERETT HAD ACCEPTED CHRIST AS HIS SAVIOR AND ENJOYED GOING TO CHURCH TO HEAR HIS WORDS.

DOROTHY CATHERINE HAWK OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI WAS BORN SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10, 1910 IN NEWTON, IOWA, A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE ANNA (FOX) DAVIS AND THE LATE ANTHONY DAVIS. DOROTHY DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 8, 2000 AT HER HOME AT THE AGE OF EIGHTY-NINE YEARS AND TWENTY-NINE DAYS.
DOROTHY WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO THE LATE LONAS "JOE" HAWK ON DECEMBER 23, 1926 IN IRONTON, MISSOURI, THEY WERE BLESSED TO HAVE FOUR SONS BORN TO THE UNION.
DOROTHY IS SURVIVED BY TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN, BRUCE HAWK OF ARNOLD, MISSOURI; JEFF WINTERS OF UTAH; DEBBIE HAWK OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI; BECKY HAWK OF POTOSI, MISSOURI; TONY HAWK AND WIFE JOE OF TEXAS; DONITA MCAULEY AND HUSBAND RICK OF ARNOLD, MISSOURI; TRACEY TUREK OF WISCONSIN; PERRY DEAN CAMDEN OF MISSOURI; PATRICIA LOTT AND HUSBAND BERT OF Louisiana; JEFF HAWK AND WIFE SHEILA OF ROLLA; MARK HAWK OF GILBERTSVILLE, KENTUCKY; PATRICK HAWK OF BATON ROUGE, Louisiana; FOURTEEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; ONE GREAT GREAT GRANDSON; THREE DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW, BARBARA ANN HAWK OF FENTON, BARBARA ANN HAWK OF GILBERTSVILLE, KENTUCKY AND JUDY PAPPAS OF FLORIDA. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS AND HUSBAND, DOROTHY WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER FOUR SONS, WILLIAM DAVIS HAWK, GEORGE LESTER HAWK, HAROLD EUGENE HAWK AND RALPH LEROY HAWK; BY ONE GRANDSON, BILLY HAWK; TWO SISTERS, MARGARET ESTER AND EILEEN ESTHER.
DOROTHY HAD MANY DREAMS AND SPECIAL PRAYERS FOR THOSE SHE LOVED, SHE WAS MORE THAN A HOUSEWIFE AND MOTHER, SHE WAS THE HAND THAT CORRECTED, THE HEART THAT CARED AND THE ARMS THAT HELD. DOROTHY HAD A SPECIAL WAY TO MAKE A HOUSE A HOME AND PEOPLE A FAMILY. SHE LOVED TO HEAR THE MUSIC OF GOSPEL SONGS AND TO LET THEM LEAVE A GREAT MESSAGE IN HER MIND.
ONE OF DOROTHY'S LAST WRITINGS LEFT US WITH THIS MESSAGE, " DO NOT BE SAD, JUST THINK! I DO NOT HURT ANY MORE.

ETHEL MILDRED BLAIR OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN FEBRUARY 4, 1919, IN OLD MINES, MISSOURI, A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE ANDREW AND HALLIE (WEBB) DEGONIA. ETHEL DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT POTOSI MANOR NURSING HOME ON JANUARY 10, 2000, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF EIGHTY YEARS, ELEVEN MONTHS AND SIX DAYS.
ETHEL WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO THE LATE GLEN BLAIR ON JANUARY 12, 1946, IN POTOSI, MISSOURI, AND TO THIS UNION TWO CHILDREN WERE BORN. ETHEL IS SURVIVED BY ONE SON, RICHARD BLAIR OF POTOSI, ONE DAUGHTER LINDA PEDDICORD AND HUSBAND DAVID OF CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, TWO GRANDCHILDREN AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS AND SPOUSE SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE BROTHER, ANDREW DEGONIA, JR. AND ONE SISTER, LILLIE PORTELL.
ETHEL WAS A MEMBER OF ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH AND THE LADIES AUXILIARY OF THE AMERICAN LEGION. ETHEL ENJOYED FARM LIFE AND THE YEARS SHE SPENT WITH HER LATE HUSBAND WORKING HARD ON THE FARM. ETHEL WAS A KIND AND LOVING WOMAN WITH A GENTLE HEART AND A STRONG DESIRE TO HELP THOSE IN NEED.

A FUNERAL MASS WAS CELEBRATED FRIDAY, JANUARY 14, 2000, AT 11:00 A.M. AT ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER GEORGE GALOVICH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN CALVARY CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
