Charles Boggs Sr.
Charles E. Boggs Sr., 58, Joplin, died at 6:48 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after an illness.
Mr. Boggs was born Jan. 11, 1939, at Page, W.Va. He moved from Harrison, Ark., to Joplin seven years ago. He was a truck driver, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. Boggs Jr., Eureka Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Becky Hyman, Carl Junction; three sisters, Zelda Hockaday, Sidney, Ohio, and Barbara Bloomfield and Rayma Forrest, both of Sacramento, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Park Cemetery, Joplin.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Sophie Boyce
PURDY, Mo. - Sophie Helen Boyce, 87, Purdy, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at the home of her brother, Earnest Pozniak,stet Purdy, after a long illness.
Mrs. Boyce was born Jan. 4, 1911, at Purdy and was a lifetime area resident. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She married Harry William Boyce on Sept. 9, 1930, at Pulaskifield. He died Feb. 21, 1988.
Additional survivors include another brother, Virgil B. Pozniak, Purdy' and four sisters, Nettie Feeney, Agnes Roberts and Rosella Renkoski,stet all of Purdy, and Twilla Younker, Pierce City.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Burial will be in Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Virginia Buck
FAIRVIEW, Mo. - Virginia Buck, 63, Fairview, died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after a long illness.
Mrs. Buck was born Feb. 1, 1934, at Wheaton. She was a lifetime area resident. She was a 1952 graduate of Wheaton High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel of Grace, Monett.
She married Don Buck on Jan. 6, 1957, at Stella. He survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Renee Buck, Granby; and a sister, Wannastet Lee Rohrer,stet Springfield.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. The Rev. Jimmie Copley will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Comfort (Mo.) Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Buck, Martin Rohrer, Victor Rohrer, Claude Haynes, Don Keeling and Robert Kingrey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Stanley Kirk
NOEL, Mo. - Stanley R. Kirk, 75, Noel route 1, died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Northwest Regional Medical Center, Springdale, Ark., after an illness.
Mr. Kirk was born Dec. 11, 1922 at Spokane, Wash. He had lived in the Noel area since 1937, moving from Spokane.
He had worked for several mobile home manufacturers in the Noel area. He worked 18 years for the Bella Vista Property Owners Association, Bella Vista, Ark.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He married Dorothy Sergeant on April 24, 1949, at Noel. She survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Bonnie Lou Tolly, La Cygne, Kan., and Marie Alice Grissom, Anderson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ozark Funeral Home, Noel, with the Rev. Bob Howard officiating. Burial will be in Noel Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Coila Longley
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Coilastet Geneva Longley, 96, Cassville, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at a Cassville nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Longley was born May 28, 1901, at Washburn. She had lived in Barry County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Corinth Baptist Church, south of Cassville.
She married H.O. "Perk"stet Longley in 1916 at Cassville. He died in 1972.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Longley and Roger Longley, both of Cassville, and George Longley, Webb City; a sister, Jessie Fulton, Cassville; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Corinth Cemetery, south of Cassville. The Rev. Bob Neeley will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
Carol Maynard
GRANBY, Mo. - Carol Ann Maynard, 43, Granby, died at 4:53 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, Neosho, after a sudden illness. heart attack
Mrs. Maynard was born Aug. 23, 1954, at Wheaton. She was a lifetime area resident. She was a production worker at Sunbeam Leisure Products, Neosho, for eight years.
Survivors include three sons, Zacherystet Sandefer,stet Jacob Hobson and Joe Maynard, all of Granby; her mother, Margaret Jones, Springfield; two brothers, Robert Richmond, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Greg Richmond, Goodman; and a sister, Dianiastet Hawkins, Granby.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rocky Comfort (Mo.) Cemetery. The Rev. Kenjistet Harrington will officiate.
Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Clark Funeral Home, Granby.
Louise McCreary
WEBB CITY, Mo. - Graveside services for Mary "Louise" McCreary, 74, 924 W. 11th St., who died Wednesday, will be at 10 a.m. today at Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City.

Russell O'Brien
PINEVILLE, Mo. - John Russell O'Brien, 58, Pineville route 1, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, Neosho, after an illness.
Mr. O'Brien was born Feb. 20, 1939, at Jane. He was a lifelong resident of the Jane and Pineville areas. He built the Ponderosa Trail Ride Ranch, Pineville, and helped manage it with his brother.
Survivors include his wife, Judy O'Brien; a son, Joe O'Brien, Jane; four daughters, Lisa Ann Williams, the state of California, Susan Chandler and Dana Summers, both of Needles, Calif., and Kim Chandler, Anderson; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Pallette, Santa Clara, Calif.; four brothers, Don O'Brien, Lanagan, Richard O'Brien, Mesa, Ariz., Harold O'Brien, Jane, and Mike O'Brien, Goodman; a sister, Patricia Wylie, Muskogee, Okla.; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson. The Rev. Larry Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the O'Brien Family Cemetery, Lanagan.

Helen Roetto
MONETT, Mo. - Helen Margaret Roetto, 78, Monett, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Roetto was born June 26, 1919, in Newton County. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, Pulaskifield, the Altar Society and the church prayer group.
She married Emmitt Roetto on Sept. 2, 1941, at Sarcoxie. He died in November 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Roetto, Monett, and Paul Roetto, Phoenix, Ariz.; four daughters, Mary Kay Aleck, Mulberry, Ark., Joan Maples, Diamond, Pauline Smith, Milton, Fla., and Rosemary Scroggs, Monett; two sisters, Frances Castle, Pierce City, and Florence Grable, Waynesville; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grand-children; and a great- great-grandchild.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, Pulaskifield. The Rev. David Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Wessell Funeral Home, Pierce City. Visitation will follow.

Mary Turner
MONETT, Mo. - Mary Jane Turner, 70, Monett, died at 4:05 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Turner was born April 30, 1927, at Hooker, Okla. She had lived in the Monett and Freistatt areas the past 30 years. She retired in 1978 from Jumping Jacks Shoes in Monett.
She was a member of the Chapel of Grace Church, Monett.
She married Rupert Rodney Turner on Oct. 18, 1963, at Neosho. He died April 5, 1976.
Survivors include two stepsons, J.C. Turner, Granby, and Jerry Turner, Kansas city; a brother, Paul Rice, Springfield; two sisters, Lois Lawson, Neosho, and Doris Ledford, Duenweg; four stepgrandchildren; and six great-step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett. The Rev. Jim Copley will officiate. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery, near Stella.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Patricia Leach
COLUMBUS, Kan. - Patricia Jane Finley Leach, 51, Columbus, died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Maude Norton Memorial Hospital, Columbus, after a long illness.
Mrs. Leach was born March 17, 1946, at St. Louis, Mo. She had lived in St. Louis most of her life, attending schools there and receiving a degree in nursing from Jefferson College. She moved to Columbus in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Wesley Brian Leach, Columbus, and John Travers Leach, St. Louis; her parents, Harry and Brownie Finley, Columbus; and a sister, Judith Franklin, Williamsburg, Va.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Murdock Funeral Home, Columbus. The Rev. Garland Bohn will officiate. Burial will be later in Columbus City Cemetery.
Jack Quier
PITTSBURG, Kan. - Jack Wallace Quier, 77, 1607 S. Olive St., died at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Mount Carmel Medical Center, Pittsburg, after an illness.
Mr. Quier was born March 24, 1920, at Pittsburg. He graduated from College High School and attended Pittsburg State University, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was a partner with his father in the Quier Meat and Grocery Market. In 1954, he opened a restaurant at Asbury. He later operated The College Inn, west of the PSU campus.
In 1967, he purchased the Tower Steakhouse, which was renamed Jack's Steakhouse and Tower Ballroom. The steakhouse was managed by the family for 28 years.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Kansas State Restaurant Association. He was a past member of the Asbury Lions Club, the Pittsburg Noon Rotary, the American Legion and the Century Club of the YMCA. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, the National Rifle Association, the Fishing Club of America, the Black Diamond Lodge of Weir and the Mirza Shrine Temple.
He was a century member of the Boy Scouts of America, serving on the local Board of Directors. He served many years as a scout master and assistant scout master. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and received the Golden Sun Award.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
He married Adele Vodicka on July 9, 1953, at Girard. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Zack T. Quier, Pittsburg; a daughter, Susan Ellen Murray, Frontenac; a sister, Bette Deane Slayman, Osawatomie; a brother, George T. Quier, Joplin, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church. The Rev. Samuel Pinkerton will officiate. Burial will be in Hosey Hill Cemetery, Weir.
Parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg. The family will receive friends after the rosary. Friends may call after 11 a.m. at the chapel.

Ellis Bryant
WYANDOTTE, Okla. - Ellis T. Bryant, 85, died at 2:48 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after an illness.
Mr. Bryant was born July 1, 1912, in Stone County, Mo. He had been a lifetime resident of the Wyandotte and Seneca, Mo. areas. He was a member of the Seneca Assembly of God Church and worked at the Milnot Co., Seneca, retiring in 1974.
He married Alma Spear on Dec. 14, 1934, at Seneca. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, David Ellis Bryant, Little Rock, Ark.; three daughters, Shirley June Brown and Betty Joyce Breisch, both of Sand Springs, Ark., and Kathy Sue Cunningham, Diamond; three sisters, Bessie Deal, Wyandotte, Jessie Costilow, Lamont, Calif., and Bertha Morris, Bakersville, Calif., six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Seneca Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Ernest Friend and the Rev. Denny Sikes will officiate. Burial will be in Seneca Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Oscar Convirs, Lester Convirs, Larry Convirs, Truman Baughn, Kenny Perse and Charles Lofland.

Christina Stepp
MIAMI, Okla. - Christina Stepp, 67, 914 L St. N.W., died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Stepp was born Nov. 30, 1930, at Thomas Town, Kilenny County, Ireland. She moved to Miami in 1954 from Ireland. She was a 1948 high school graduate. She worked as a waitress in several restaurants in the Miami area.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Miami.
She married Jack Stepp on Dec. 6, 1952, at London, England. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Antonystet Hardy, Oxford, England, and Michael Stepp, Welch; a daughter, Darlene Reavis, Sapulpa; a sister, Pamela Cartwright,stet London; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A son preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the family home. Marvin Morris, deacon, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Her body has been donated to the Oklahoma University Health Science Center.
