Delma Brooks
Delma Hauser Brooks, 70, Tacoma, Wash., a former Joplin resident, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at a hospital in Tacoma after a long illness.
Mrs. Brooks was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Joplin. She was a 1945 graduate of Joplin High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at a certified public accounting firm in Joplin. She moved to Tacoma in 1952. She worked at the Carpenter's Union in Tacoma as a secretary for 17 years.
She married Lynn Brooks on May 8, 1953. He survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Steve Brooks, Anacortes, Wash.; a daughter, Brenda Storlie, Tacoma; a sister, Leona Hauser Hulette, Joplin; and five grandchildren.
The body will be cremated. No services are planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lynn Funeral Home, Tacoma.
Contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Dorothy Anderson
MONETT, Mo. - Dorothy Mae Anderson, 76, Monett, died at 9:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at a Monett nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Anderson was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Monett. She had resided in the Monett area all of her life. She graduated in 1939 from Monett High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Monett, United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle and Tom Wolfe VFW Post 4207 Ladies Auxiliary.
She married William Howard Anderson on Aug. 24, 1940, in Cassville. He survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Rod Anderson, Monett; a brother, Bill Medlin, Monett; two sisters, Bernice Medlin and Audrey Millikan, both of Monett, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Buchanan Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Mildren officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Monett.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Loaves and Fishes meals program or First United Methodist Church of Monett

Chester Browning
CASSVILLE, Mo. - Chester Ward Browning, 84, Cassville, formerly of Seligman, died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at South Barry County Hospital, Cassville, after a long illness.
Mr. Browning was born Sept. 21, 1913, at Stark City. He was a lifelong resident of Barry County He was a graduate of Exeter High School, Exeter. He had been a self-employed barber in Seligman for 50 years. He had served in various city offices in Seligman, including the office of mayor. At one time, he had been named "Mr. Seligman." He also served on Bank of Seligman board. He was a member of Seligman Baptist Church. He had been in ill health since 1994 and had been living in Barry County Care Center, Cassville, since Dec. 1, 1995.
He married Beatrice Davis in 1931. She died Feb. 21, 1966. He married Lois L. Edens Chappel in 1967. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Gordon Browning, Pea Ridge, Ark, and Ronald Browning, Bentonville, Ark.; a stepson, Bill Chappel, Washburn; a daughter, Mary Lou Raglan, Bentonville, Ark.; a brother, Vernie Browning, Newtonia; a sister, Lorraine Relethford, Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Seligman. The Rev. Aaron Weibel will officiate. Burial will be in Seligman Cemetery, Seligman.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Mary Crosby
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - Mary Belle Crosby, 62, Carl Junction, died at 3:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, from injuries she received in an accident occurring Jan. 6 near Carl Junction.
Mrs. Crosby was born Sept. 30, 1935, at Southwest City. She moved to Carl Junction nine years ago from Eugene, Ore. She had been employed the last two years as a Wal-Mart cashier. She and her husband had pastored Open Bible churches in several states.
She married Bernie Crosby on Jan. 6, 1952, at West Praire, Ark. He survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Dennis Ray Crosby, Zwolle, Netherlands, Gary D. Crosby, Burbank, S.C., Clayton Eugene Crosby, Bristow, Va.; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Parker Mortuary, Joplin, with the Rev. J.K. Wright officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Southwest City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Flossie Wade
Flossie M. Wade, 83, Washburn, died at 7:15 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at a Cassville Hospital, after a short illness.
Mrs. Wade was born March 2, 1914, in McDonald County. She attended Trents Creek School near Washburn. She was a life-long resident of the Washburn area. She was a member of O.K. Assembly of God Church, Washburn, where she was Sunday School secretary for 40 years.
She married Loy Wade on Dec. 31, 1935, at Neosho. He died Oct. 3, 1979.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Hopkins, Cassville, and Anna Mae Burns, Seligman; six brothers, Virgil Hendrix and Donald Hendrix, both of Seligman, Elmer Hendrix, Cassville and Ozie Hendrix, Willie Hendrix, and J.D. Hendrix, all of Washburn; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial will be in Roller Cemetery, west of Washburn.

Fern Welch
LAMAR, Mo. - Sarah Fern Welch, 89, Lamar, died at 8:40 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Barton County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Welch was born Aug. 2, 1908, in Barry County. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Aurora.
She married Ancil Welch on April 20, 1928, at Miami, Okla. He died Feb. 10, 1988.
Survivors include a son, James Welch, Branson; three daughters, Judy Welch, Branson, Beverly Garringer, Lamar, and Sue Sundlee, Rochester, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora. The Rev. Drew Hill will officiate. Pallbeaers will be Rodney Garringer, Jimmy Welch, Robert Marti, Kent Welch, Sean Kirby, Donovan Stahl, Trevor Kirby and Joey Garringer.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lamar First Baptist Church building fund or Southwest Baptist University Scholarship Fund.

Geneva Cairns
GALENA, Kan. - Geneva Cairns, 66, Galena, died at 2:58 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Freeman-East Hospital, Joplin, after an illness.
Mrs. Cairns was born Jan. 13, 1931, at Wilburton, Kan. She lived in Galena as a child, later moving to the State of California. She returned to Galena 26 years ago. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters, Marsha R. Burwick, Carl Junction, Mo., Glenda R. Ray, Riverton, Linda R. Hendrix, Hollister, Mo., and Martha R. Wells, Joplin,Mo.; two brothers, "Sonny" Alan Walton, Richmond, Va., and Jerry Glen Walton, Las Vegas, Nev.; and a sister, Jeanette Clingenpeel, Lawrenceville, Ga.
The body was cremated.
Private graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday at Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs. Roy Derfelt officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena.

Bessie Angel
MIAMI, Okla. - Bessie Margaret East Angel, 80, died at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at American Transitional Tulsa Regional Hospital, Tulsa, after an illness.
Mrs. Angel was born July 14, 1917, at Mountain Aire, N.M. she moved to Miami in 1922 and graduated from Miami High School in 1935. She later moved to Welch where she lived until 1977, moving to Grove. She moved to Miami in 1988.
She married Earl Angel on June 12, 1937, in Columbus, Kan. He died in 1966.
She is survived by a daughter, Earlene Roskob, Grove; a brother, Herbert East, Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Virginia Hubbard, Akron, and Rose Wagner, Miami; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Welch. Burial will be at the Fairland Cemetery. Minister Brad Canham will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Senior Horner, Wayne Kays, Melvin Harden, Bill Goodwin, Tobe Chenoweth and Bob Neil.
Arrangements are under direction of Thomas Funeral Home, Welch.

Mattie Prather
GROVE, Okla. - Mattie Prather, 84, Grove, Okla., died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Prather was born Jan. 21, 1913, near Turkey Ford Community in Delaware County. She was a homemaker.
She married James E. Prather in 1931 in Neosho. He died on Oct. 12, 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Bettie J. Parman, Miami; a sister, Lena Tooey, Wyandotte; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
Private family services will be held at a later date
The body will be cremated.
Arrangements are under direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

Rosa Teel
JAY, Okla. - Rosa Etta Teel, 91, Jay, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at a Grove nursing home of an illness.
Mrs. Teel was born Feb. 5, 1906, at Barry County, Mo. She had lived in Whitewater community, near Grove, for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of Whitewater Baptist Church.
She married Claibourne Teel in August 1941. He died Nov. 8, 1985.
A son also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Roy L. Medlin and Howard Teel, both of Grove, and Marshall Teel, Jay; four daughters, Bonnie Bryant, Seneca, Mo., Twilla Roberts, Nicholasville, Ky., Betty Giles, Salina, Okla., and Francine Clemons, Adair, Okla.; a sister, Hattie Leuellen, Anderson, Mo.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Grove. The Rev. Martin Baird and the Rev. John E. Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Southwest City (Mo.) Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Teel, Marshall Lynn Teel, Mike Teel, Jay Russell Teel, Larry Bryant and Rick Bryant.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

Mary Whitesell
HALLTOWN, Mo. - Mary Madeline Whitesell, 84, Del City, a Halltown native, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at her daughter's home at Del City, of an apparent heart attack.
Mrs. Whitesell was born Oct. 10, 1913, near Halltown. She moved in 1995 to Del City from Halltown. She was a member of Halltown Baptist Church. She was a retired cook and waitress.
She married Otis Grover Whitesell in 1942. He died on June 29, 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Hendricks, Del City; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller. The Rev. Dean Hendricks will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Prairie Cemetery, south of Halltown.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
