Vera M. Kinne, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999.
Born Nov. 16, 1916 in Gladwin, she was the daughter of John and Mary Hollenbaugh.
She was married to Clayton Kinne for 64 years. He died a little over three weeks after her death.
She was retired from the State of Michigan and lived in Ellsworth, Mi. and Hobe Sound, Fla.
She is survived by one daughter, IvaLee and husband Fred Bellinger of Florida; two sons, John of Charlotte, and Ron and wife Mary Jo of Lansing; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen and husband Zarold Walters, and Mary and husband Max Bowers, both of Gladwin; and one brother, Dan and wife Dawn of Florida.
Vera Mae Smith, 90, of Avon Park, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 in Florida Heartland Hospital, Sebring, Fla. after a short illness.
Born Jan. 8, 1909 in Beaverton, she was the daughter of George and Jesse Taylor. She attended Gladwin schools and graduated in 1926.
Vera married Wilbur L. Smith, Dec. 25, 1926 in Gladwin. They would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary Christmas day of this year.
She attended County Normal School and became a teacher. She taught in some rural Gladwin County schools until 1942, when her family moved to Saginaw. She continued to teach in Saginaw County schools until retirement. She moved back to Wiggins Lake in 1968, then retired to Florida in 1978.
Besides her husband, Wilbur, of Avon Park, Fla., and a daughter, Beverly Sands, also of Avon Park, Fla, she is survived by two sons, Robert and Stanley, both of Gladwin; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas, a grandson, Michael Smith, and a brother, Guy Taylor, all of California; two sisters, Barbara Stewart of Florida and Eleanor Bucher of Ohio.
Burial will be at the Highlands Cemetery in Gladwin.
There will be no services. Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park were in charge of the arrangements. The remains were cremated.
Virginia E. Curler, 69, of Beaverton, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland after a long illness.
Born Feb. 10, 1930 in Marlette, she lived in Gladwin County for 13 years and previously lived in Linwood.
Virginia married Donald Curler, May 23, 1953 in Bay City. She was co-owner/operator of Linwood Cycle Sales in Linwood. She was a member of the Dale United Methodist Church in Beaverton.
Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Donald II and wife Diane of Las Vegas, Nev., and Roland and wife Colleen of Linwood; six grandchildren; one brother, Louis Rich of Mt. Pleasant; and two sisters, Helen Schank of Essexville, and Grace Phillips of Saginaw. She was preceded in death by one son, Chris in 1981, three sisters, and two brothers.
Services will be held at noon Monday at the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. Burial will be in Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Kawkawlin. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
Khristian Lee Grieser, infant, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999 at Saginaw Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw. He was born Dec. 30, 1999.
Surviving are his parents, Randy and Tricia Grieser of Beaverton; one sister, Kylee of Beaverton; grandparents, Roger and Karen Grieser of Archbald, Ohio, and Jim and LouAnn Woodcock of Midland; great-grandmothers, JoAnn Hann of Midland, and Lucille Mohr of Florida.
C. D. "Dee" Paxton, 79, of Genesee, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 at Genesys Health Park.
Born Dec. 12, 1920 in Beaverton, he was the son of Dempster and Mabel Paxton.
He was a general supervisor at AC Spark Plug, retiring in 1982 after 41 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Paxton married Emilie Bancroft, Jan. 8, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, David of Tampa, Fla.; one stepson, Peter Schaefer of Flint; one granddaughter, Erica of Flint; one grandson, Dean and wife Amber Paxton of Flint; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, C. W. 'Dub' (twin) and wife Mike of Denver, Color, and Doyle of Gladwin; one sister, Doris Kigar of Gladwin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.
Services were held at the Brown Funeral Home in Flint with Rev. Gloria Drake officiating.
Dorothy Marie Fortier, 78, of Beaverton, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Gladwin.
Born Sept. 29, 1921 in Tuscola County, she was the daughter of Eddie and Mary Corrion Gilmore.
Surviving are her children, Beverly and Leonard Fischer of Wisconsin, Don and Pat Fortier of California, Joyce and Bob Clites of Arkansas, and Dorothy Sperry of Brant; one sister, Shirley Mader of Beaverton; three brothers, Roger Gilmore of East Lansing, Ben Gilmore of California, and Ray Thompson of Arizona; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1986.
No services were held. Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin was in charge of the arrangements.
