Stanley Witer, 82, of Gladwin, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000 at home following a long illness.
Born Feb. 24, 1917 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he lived in Gladwin County since 1926. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.
Stanley married Rose Faler, Aug. 19, 1976 in Gladwin. He worked as an electrician/plumber for Hubers Mechanical in Midland, retiring in 1977 after 28 years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #5280 and St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenville.
Beside his wife he is survived by three daughters, Gloria Wilson of Youngville, La., Vicki and husband Jim Richardson of Coleman, and Sheri Witer of Gladwin; two sons, Stanley C. and wife Sue, and Steven and wife Sue, all of Beaverton; two stepsons, Glenn and wife Debbie Anderson of West Branch, and Bruce and wife Gail Anderson of Bakersfield, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Elaine and husband Doug White of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Anna Harvath of Dearborn Heights, and Nellie Flemming of Grand Rapids; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three nephews, Joe Witer, Mike Witer, and Jim Witer, all of Beaverton; and the mother of his children, Norma Benjamin.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Rev. Father Todd Arnberg officiating. Burial was in Midland Memorial Gardens, Midland. Knights of Columbus #5280 held a Rosary at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Burke A. Beebe, 72, of Gladwin, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000 at the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home.
Born July 1, 1927 in Gladwin County, he was the son of Arthur and Orpha Meek Beebe. He lived in Gladwin County all his life.
Burke married Mabel Klein, Oct. 14, 1952 in Gladwin. He retired from The Dow Chemical Company in 1982, and was a veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Lloyd and grandsons, Lloyd and Michael; one daughter, Darlynn and husband Lynn Douglas and grandchildren Laura and Ryan of Beach Park, Ill; one brother, Carl of Dundee; and three sisters, Joy Curtis of Gladwin, Erma and husband Ted Reger of Farwell, and Clara and husband Wayne Gairns of Auburn.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Floyd.
Services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sisson Funeral Home, Gladwin, with Jerome Frandle and Shane Brown officiating. Burial was in McClure Cemetery.
Berneice M. VanOver, 73, of Buena Park, California, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 at home following a short illness.
Born July 20, 1926 in Ann Arbor, she lived in California since 1976 and previously lived in Detroit.
Berneice married Elvin Cisco VanOver, Aug. 1, 1964 in Beaverton. He preceded her in death July 12, 1971. She was an executive housekeeper for Coto De Caza Resort in California, retiring in 1988.
Surviving are three daughters, Kimberly and husband Gary Stine of Buena Park, Calif., Bonnie and husband John Hudson of San Clemente, Calif., and Vickie and husband Gilbert Rocher of Paris, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Betty Sue Tibbs of Kentucky and Virgie Kay Hinkle of Detroit; one stepson, William Joseph VanOver of Coldwater; two brothers, Norman Brewer of Farwell, and Leonard Brewer of Beaverton; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one stepson, Kelly VanOver; and one brother, Lester Brewer.
Services were held at noon Friday at Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel with Pastor Elwyn MacDonald officiating. Burial was in Beaverton Cemetery, Beaverton.

Betty E. Blades, 77, of Beaverton, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 at the Tendercare Nursing Home in Clare after a long illness.
Born March 4, 1922 in Gladwin County, she was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County.
Betty married Lloyd F. 'Mike' Blades, July 14, 1940 in Beaverton. He preceded her in death July 18, 1986. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Larry and wife Mary, and Gary and wife Merry, all of Beaverton; five sisters, Dorothy Stewart of Mt. Pleasant, Lorraine Elshaw of Euclid, Ohio, Velma Blades of Clare, and Claudine Sandula and Beverly Brushaber, both of Beaverton; three brothers, Robert Onweller of California, Glen Onweller of Gladwin, and Alvin Onweller of Coleman; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel, with Pastor Harold Owens officiating. Burial was in Tobacco Twp. (Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton.
Jane "Lanphierd" Campbell, 61, of Huntington Beach, Calif., died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif., after a long battle with cancer.
Born June 8, 1938 in Hope, she was the daughter of Wilbur Thomas and Emma Lamphierd. She was a graduate of Beaverton High School, class of 1956.
Jane married Thomas Campbell, Jan. 8, 1964. They resided in southern California since their marriage.
Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Thomas Patrick Campbell of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Sheri Lynne Campbell of La Mirada, Calif.; one brother, David Lanphierd of Midland; and two sisters, Linda Morse of Sanford and Elizabeth Snover of Beaverton.
Pierce Mortuary in Huntington Beach, Calif. was in charge of the arrangements, with services pending.
John L. "Jack" McGuire, 76, of Beaverton, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 at home following a short illness.
Born April 6, 1923 in Gladwin, he was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. He was a retired laborer, working for Faulkner Construction in Midland. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Surviving are five sons, Michael and wife Maureen, James and wife Teri, John, and Joseph, all of Gladwin, and Patrick of McMillon; two sisters, Eileen McKenna and Lucille Howard, both of Gladwin; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jerry in 1972; and one brother, Patrick.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gladwin, with Rev. Father Patrick Jankowiak officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Gladwin.
