GEORGE A WEBER
(1917-2000)
George A. Weber, 83, of 1411 Earl Street in Pekin died at 10:12 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2000 at Pekin Hospital.
Born June 25, 1917 in Havana to Alla L. and Ella J. Nanninga Weber, he married Edna Bertha "Bea" Heater on September 11, 1937 in Covington, Indiana. She died December 9, 1994 in Pekin. Three sisters, Gretchen Weber, Marie Ashurst and Ella Jones and three brothers, Nelson Weber, Lammert Weber and Richard Weber also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Wade M. (Donna) Weber of Hobart, Indiana and Mark P. (Judy) Weber of Tremont; one daughter, Jill G. Weber of Momence; three grandchildren, Steven M. (Lisa) Weber of Hobart, Indiana, Kathy Weber of Champaign and Lee G. Weber of Tremont; three great-grandchildren, Jessie A. Weber, Aaron M. Weber and Lea M. Weber, all of Hobart, Indiana and one sister, Grace A. Sinclair of Easton.
He was a 1936 graduate of Havana High School.
Mr. Weber was employed 40 years with Soldwedel's Dairy and with Borden's Dairy in Pekin, retiring in 1979 as production superintendent.
He became a bailiff at the Tazewell County Court House in 1984, where he served the Judges of the 10th Judicial Circuit for 13 years, retiring as chief bailiff in 1997. He served two years as chief bailiff. As chief bailiff, Mr. Weber maintained the schedules and payroll records for the 11 part-time bailiffs and three relief bailiffs who serve Tazewell County's six courtrooms. Weber worked full-time as bailiff for the civil courtroom and had worked in all six courtrooms during his tenure.
He was a life member of Pekin Lodge No. 29, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons and was an honorary member of Empire Lodge No. 126 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Pekin. He was member of the Pekin Chapter No. 25, Royal Arch Masons; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; Mohammed Temple, Shrine; and the Pekin Consistory Club.
He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 1271 in Pekin. He was a lifetime member of the Tazewell County Genealogical Society, where he formerly served as a board member. He was member of the American Association of Retired Persons and formerly served as treasurer of its Pekin Chapter. He also served as an election judge for Tazewell County at the Miller Center in Pekin.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men and the Friendship Club. He formerly served the church as a longtime usher and as a member of the church council.
He was a man of high values and ethics.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gaylord E. Buss will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before services Thursday at the church.

REV. RALPH HART
(1908-2000)
The Rev. Ralph Edwin Hart, 91, of 800 Henrietta Street, Pekin, formerly of 8 River Drive in North Pekin, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2000 at his residence.
Born November 10, 1908 in Ottawa to Earl David and Cora Josephine Clark Hart, he married Goldie A. "Golda" Snook on June 12, 1930 in Ottawa. She died March 6, 1999 in Morton. He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Darlene G. Curry on January 16, 1987 in Hobart, Washington and Donna J. Garrison on December 30, 1996 in Pekin; one grandson and nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Beverly L. (Lloyd) Carson of Pekin; one son, R. David (Karen) Hart of Pekin; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Bernice "Midge" (Ned) Bradley of Davison, Michigan.
Rev. Hart was called into the ministry at the age of seventeen and while serving with the Salvation Army as a Corps. Cadet, he met Goldie. Together they formed a gospel singing ministry and a youth ministry.
He was ordained by the Lowerlight Mission Association and went on to serve as a Pastor and Evangelist with the Buckley Gospel Tabernacle in Buckley, Michigan.
He also was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. in the export department at the Morton Parts Facility for twenty years, retiring in 1973.
Rev. Hart hosted three radio programs over many years; one in Buckley during the 1940's named "The Rural Revival Hour" and two locally over W.P.E.O. Radio called "Your Call to Worship" and "Hart to Heart Meditations." He was chosen as the W.P.E.O. Senior Citizen of the Year in 1994.
He was a member of the Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church in rural Pekin. He also attended the Heartland Christian Fellowship in Groveland.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2000 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. John D. Tanner, Rev. James A. Zehr and Rev. Dianah A. Wolf, his granddaughter, will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church Cemetery in rural Pekin.

LOUIS BUCHANAN
(1926-2000)
Louis C. Buchanan, 73, a resident of 1109 Monroe Street, Pekin, since 1959, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2000 at his residence.
Born July 21, 1926 in Manito to Orvel and Mattie Long Buchanan, he married Vera L. Staker on March 28, 1948 at Groveland. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Margie A. (Charles) Cobb of Pekin and Reva L. (Neal) McBride of Omaha, Nebraska and four grandchildren, Tara L. (Paul) Griffin of Nashville, Tennessee, Douglas A. (Stephanie) Cobb of Pekin, Kyle F. McBride and Katie M. McBride, both of Omaha, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Buchanan and Ellis Buchanan; and also two sisters in infancy.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Mr. Buchanan worked as an ironworker at Corn Products Corp. in Pekin, which later became Pekin Energy Company, for more than forty-five years. He retired from Pekin Energy in 1989. He was a member of the Pioneer Club at Corn Products.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Men's Senior Golf League at Parkview Golf Course in Pekin.
He attended Cornerstone Baptist Church, 18040 Unsicker Road, Groveland, where funeral services were held, Monday, July 24, 2000. The Rev. Dr. Steven E. Hauter and Rev. Stephen T. McGinnis will officiated. Visitation was Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and also prior to services at the church. Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Dorothy G. Riviere, 83, of 2220 State St., died at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center. She was formerly of 1405 Florence Ave.
Born May 10, 1917 in Pekin, she was a daughter of George E. And Mary M. Connett Risinger. She married Frank Riviere on November 5, 1937 in Pekin. He died September 5, 1988 in Pekin. Also preceding her in death were 1 son, Terry A. Riviere on December 8, 1991 in Peoria, 1 grandson, Larry D. Riviere in December 1970, and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Sharon (Tim) Zimmerman of Pekin; 2 sons, Larry (Etta) Riviere of Groveland and Jim (Ginger) Riviere of Pekin; 8 grandchildren, Kevin Zimmerman of White Plains, NY, Scott Riviere, Jody Riviere, Suzanne Riviere and Kris Trew, all of Pekin, Dawn Riviere of Creve Coeur, Jeanne Hatley of Ocala, FL and Melissa Naylor of Ranchos De Taos, NM; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Nell Risinger of Chillicothe, IL.
Mrs. Riviere had been employed as a sales clerk at Ace Hardware, Stafford's Dairy and McLellan's department store, all in Pekin. She was a member of the Compassionate Friends and enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services were Saturday, August 5, 2000 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Krista L. Brockman will officiated. (1925-2000)
Russell Weldon Woodmancy, Sr., 75, of 3809 Evergreen Court, Country Estates, Pekin, died at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2000 at his residence.
Born March 6, 1925 in McLean to Harold and Lucille L. Bowers Woodmancy, he married Caroline Fandel on March 12, 1949 in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are eight sons, Russell W., Jr. (Kathy) Woodmancy of Hayward, California, Harold D. "Dave" (Flo) Woodmancy of Marquette Heights, Richard W. "Dick" Woodmancy, Bruce N. (Vickie) Woodmancy, Thomas A. Woodmancy, all of Pekin, Scott D. (Kelly) Woodmancy of Manito, Kenneth M. Woodmancy of Peoria and Michael D. Woodmancy of Bloomington; one daughter, Carole L. Woodmancy of Normal; nine grandchildren, Nikki Woodmancy, Russell W. Woodmancy, III, Alicia (Jake) Lampi, Gina Woodmancy, all of California, David Woodmancy, Jr. of Marquette Heights, Adam Woodmancy of Manito, Matt Woodmancy of Normal, Brittany Woodmancy and Kristin Woodmancy, both of Pekin; one great-grandson, Jack Lampi; and one sister, Aileen D. Winfrey of Carson City, Nevada.
His parents and one brother, Kenneth D. Woodmancy, preceded him in death.
A 1942 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he attended both Bradley University and Stanford University.
He was a World War II Army Veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946 as a paratrooper in the European Theater. He was a member of William Schaefer American Legion Post No. 44 in Pekin.
He retired in 1989 after more than 25 years of service from Caterpillar, Inc. as a supervisor in factory accounting in East Peoria. He previously worked in the payroll departments of the ABC Washing Machine Company in East Peoria and Great Central Insurance in Peoria.
He also owned and operated Seven Sons Satellite, a satellite installation service and Seal-Rite Home Insulation, both for many years.
A 33rd degree mason, he was a 47 year member of Empire Lodge No. 126, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Pekin. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria and the Mohammed Temple, Shrine. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
He attended the Congregational United Church of Christ in Pekin.
Services were held at Wednesday, July 19, 2000 the Congregational United Church of Christ in Pekin. The Rev. Betty A. Hornback officiated. Visitation was one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with Masonic rites and Military rites accorded.

CHAD HANNIG
(1973-2000)
Chad F. Hannig, 27, of 1500 Lake Street, Pekin, was pronounced dead at 9:03 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000 at the scene of a motorcycle accident one-half mile Northeast of Midwest Generation (Powerton) in Pekin.
He was born June 25, 1973 in Pekin to Steven D. and Neva L. Mayberry Hannig.
Surviving are his parents of Pekin; two brothers, Steven D., Jr. (Shellie) Hannig of Raeford, North Carolina and Bret A. (Jessica) Hannig of Pekin; and his grandparents, Bessie Mayberry of Pekin and Thelma Jean and Jack Kauffmann, also of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Halsey Mayberry, Carroll F. Hannig, and Harry and Lena Diekman.
He was a 1992 graduate of Pekin Community High School. He attended Illinois Central College. While in grade school and high school, he played basketball, baseball and wrestled. He also ran track while in grade school. Chad and his cousin, Ryan Mayberry, led the Rankin Rebels in basketball to finish as state runner-ups in 1986 and to finish in the Elite 8 in 1987 with a two-year team record of 48 wins and 2 losses.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and boxing.
He was employed as a switchman for the Peoria & Pekin Union Railway Company for the past three years. He also had an engineer's license. He previously worked several years at Pekin Hardwood Lumber Company.
He attended the Pekin Church of Christ.
Services were held Thursday, July 20, 2000 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Evangelist Kenneth E. Thomas officiated. Visitation was Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Burial was be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Roy L. McIntyre, 87, formerly of 1426 S. 6th Street in Pekin,, died at 12:50 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2000 at Pekin Manor.
Born February 26, 1913 in Allen County, Kentucky, he was a son of Samuel Edward and Sally Ann Temple McIntyre. He married Reba L. Huskisson on August 11, 1934 in Scottsville, Kentucky
Surviving are his wife; 1 daughter, Anita (Ray) Nickel; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jon) Copeland and Court (Lara) Nickel, all of Aliso Viejo, CA; 2 brothers, Samuel G. McIntyre of Pekin and Ralph G. McIntyre of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 3 sisters, Agnes Thompson of Louisville, KY, Kay (Noah) Law of Indianapolis, IN and Patty (Carleen) Oliver of Scottsville, KY; and 22 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Ewin B. McIntyre, and 5 sisters, Lillie Mae Cosby, Anna Merritt, Edith Pitchford, Lucille Cherry and Dorothy McIntyre; and 1 niece and 3 nephews.
Mr. McIntyre was employed at Corn Products Corporation in Pekin for 40 years retiring in January 1975 as refinery supervisor. He was a member of the Pioneer Club and the Supervisor's Club at Corn Products. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where he was formerly an usher.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Pekin. Rev. Dr. Robert E. MacKay officiated. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel and 30 minutes prior to services at the church. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. FRANK GOTTMAN
(1928-2000)
Frank G. Gottman, 72, of 4100 Edgewater Dr., Pekin, died at 10:20 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2000 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born April 24, 1928 in Altamont, IL, he was a son of August Fred and Edna Mae Thompson Gottman. He married Lily Marie Perry on June 1, 1948 in St. Elmo, IL.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Robert Eugene (Nancy) Gottman of Creve Coeur and Larry Alan (Christine) Gottman of Pekin; 2 daughters, Shirley (Rev. Gary) England of East Peoria and Bonnie Shirley of North Pekin; 8 grandchildren, Tiffany (Robert) Clark, Christine (Sean) Perkins, Tim Gottman and Matthew Gottman, all of Pekin, Tonya England of East Peoria, Daniel (Anita) England of Washington, Josh Sloan of Creve Coeur, and Jesse Shirley of North Pekin; 3 great-granddaughters; and 1 sister, Elsie (William) Sarver of Herrick, IL.
He was preceded in death by 1 daughter (Angela Beth Gottman on November 24, 1970 in Pekin), 1 grandson (Gordon Shirley), 1 brother, and 1 sister.
Mr. Gottman was a carman/welder for the Toledo, Peoria, and Western Railroad for 32 years retiring in 1984. He had been a stock car race driver and was inducted into the Peoria Speedway Hall of Fame in 1999. He was a member of Richland Southern Baptist Church in East Peoria and a former member of the International Association of Carmen. He was an avid auction goer.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2000 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. His son-in-law, Pastor Gary R. England officiated. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Helen G. Portell, 97, of 1540 El Camino Dr., Apt. 117, died at 9:05 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2000 in the emergency room at Pekin Hospital.
A daughter of Chris Moses and Frances Kaiser Heitman, she was born February 5, 1903 in Yount, Missouri. She married Carl Portell on January 11, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 26, 1986 in St. Louis, 1 brother and 4 sisters.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Patty (Edward) Shipman of Morton; 3 granddaughters, Sue (Richard) Dambold of Lewisville, TX, Sallie (John) Watson of Tremont and Sandy (Brian) Swinford of Morton; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Portell and her husband owned and operated Portell's Market in St. Louis for over 30 years. She was a member of the Unity Christ Church in St. Louis.
Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2000 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Jan C. Johnson will officiate. Visitation was 30 minutes prior to services. Mrs. Portell's body has been donated to medical research. DONALD G. EKVALL
(1908-2000)
Donald G. Ekvall, 91, of 500 Centennial Drive, East Peoria, died at 5:40 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria. He was formerly of 116 Marquette Avenue in Creve Coeur.
Born July 16, 1908 in Hoopeston to Fred G. and Amelia Bjorkholtz Ekvall, he married Victoria J. "Vicki" Babb on July 26, 1936 in Hillsboro, Indiana. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Fred C. (Sue) Ekvall of Metamora, Donald W. Ekvall of Creve Coeur, and Thomas D. (Debra) Ekvall of Glasford; seven grandchildren, Vickie B. Barber of Peoria, Jami S. Vance of Groveland, Dawn G. Ekvall of Metamora, Denise K. (Dave) Estrada of Phoenix, Arizona, Lorrine D. (Tracy) Caulkins of Brimfield, Daniel W. (Cymanthia) Ekvall of Arnold, Missouri, Tim D. Eckvall of Glasford; and twelve great-grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Ekvall worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 38 years, retiring in 1974 as a supervisor in the Data Processing Center in East Peoria. He previously worked at the American Can Company and the United States Post Office, both in Hoopeston.
He had served on the Creve Coeur School District No. 76 board for 18 years, where he was the secretary for many years. He also served on the Central Illinois Division of the State of Illinois School Board Association for 8 years, first as Vice Chairman, then chairman, and 4 years as Executive Director.
He was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and the Santa Rosa Methodist Church in Santa Rosa, Texas.
Memorial services were held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2000 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Michelle Oberwise-Lacock will officiated. Visitation was two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston at a later date.

David Anthony Kinzler, 45, of 1414 James Road, Pekin, died at 4:40 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2000 at his residence.
Born January 17, 1955 in Joliet to Wilbert Anthony and Barbara Ann Pavelich Kinzler, he married Donna Jean McIntyre on April 15, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of Pekin; two sons, Luke A. and Nick N., both of Pekin; one sister, Barbara A. Leiber of Lisle; one niece, Ann K. (Dean) Hambry of London, England.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of Pekin Moose Lodge No. 916.
He worked 20 years for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as an engineer, last working in 1993.
His hobbies included fishing and outdoor sports.
Services were Friday, July 14, 2000 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Deacon Ernest W. Whited officiated. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

James Edward "Red" Redding, 68, of 1311 Willow Street, Pekin, died at 7:53 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2000 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born December 20, 1931 in Buffalo, Illinois to Henry Everett and Velma P. Copeland Redding, Sr., he married Patricia L. Tincher on May 29, 1955 in Pekin. He later married Lorene Brasure Morris on August 25, 1989 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Steven E. (Lorgia) Redding of Peoria and David W. (Julie) Redding of Lexington, Kentucky; two daughters, Denise E. (George) Bray of Nashville, Tennessee and Crystal E. (Dave) Starrett of Atlanta, Georgia; one step-son, R. Michael "Mike" Morris of Pekin; two step-daughters, Kathie J. (Michael) Tarlton of Pekin and Patricia A. Morris of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Stephen E. Redding, AnnEylse K. Redding, Creighton S. Redding, all of Pekin, Alexander S. Redding of Peoria, Brandon W. Redding, Lindsey F. Redding, Kaitlyn H. Redding, all of Lexington and Susan L. Magar of Nashville; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry J. "Zeke" (Inez) Redding of Pekin; three sisters, Delores "Dee" (Ken) Jenkins of Mossy Head, Florida, Evelyn Darlene (Dale) Hilst of Morton and Verna Mae (Doug) Dougherty of New Orleans, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henry Everett Redding, Jr. and Robert Lee "Ike" Redding; and one sister, Doris J. Moore.
A Korean War veteran, Mr. Redding served in the United States Air Force 21 years from May of 1951 until January of 1972, attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant.
He then worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for twenty years, retiring in 1995. He worked as a packer/checker at Caterpillar's Morton Parts Facility.
He last worked security for the Wackenhut Corporation at Commonwealth Edison's Powerton Station in Pekin for several years.
He was a former member of the Pekin Moose Lodge 916.
He was a member of Springfield Road Baptist Church in East Peoria. He also attended First Assembly of God in Pekin.
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2000 at Springfield Road Baptist Church in East Peoria. The Rev. Raymond M. Hutson will officiated. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and also 30 minutes prior to services at the church. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded.

WARREN EDWARD RICKARD
(1922-2000)
Warren Edward Rickard, 77, of 1403 Royal Avenue, Pekin, died at 4:13 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born July 26, 1922 in Heyworth to James Peter and Minnie C. Wynn Rickard, he married Lila Lee Mearida on July 4, 1942 in Heyworth. She died February 25, 1999 in Harlingen, Texas. His parents also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Warren E. (Rebecca) Rickard, Jr. of Heyworth and T.J. (Jackie) Rickard of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one daughter, Connie S. (Ronald) Eitenmiller of Athens, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Michelle L. (Matt) Schaber of Normal, Michael S. (Michelle) Rickard, Justin W. Rickard, and Callie M. Rickard, all of Heyworth, Thomas D. (Gay) Eitenmiller and Scott L. (Jenni) Eitenmiller, both of Dallas, Georgia, Leland J. Koll of Denver, Colorado, and Wade Giffin Koll of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Faye Head of Wapella and Effie (Lester) Fahle of Groesbeck, Texas.
Mr. Rickard was a longtime river terminal manager for the grain elevators of Hasenwinkle, Central Soya, and Louis Dreyfus, all in Pekin.
He was a lifetime member of the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) and a former director of the former Peoria Board of Trade.
He also was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 916, both in Pekin.
He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and later with his 5th wheel trailer.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2000 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Shana G. Johnson officiated. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2000 at the funeral home. Burial was be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

KENNETH EARL CLARK
(1917-2000)
Kenneth Earl Clark, 83, of 1323 Caroline Street, Pekin, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2000 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born March 31, 1917 in Boynton Township, Tazewell County to Asa Earl and Nellie Zimmerman Clark, he married June Orvetta Kracht on June 29, 1941 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Marilyn J. Collins of Peoria and Carolyn S. Clark of Eureka, and Barbara J. (Lynn) Franz of Lynchburg, Virginia; two sons, Stephen E. (Debbie) Clark of Brimfield and William D. (Brenda) Clark of Pekin; and eight grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Collins and Kimberly E. Collins, both of Peoria, R. Matthew Franz and Daniel L. Franz, both of Lynchburg, Virginia, Nathan W. Clark and Jennifer C. Milburn, both of Pekin; and Adam N. Clark and Sara E. Clark, both of Brimfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers (Leo Clark and Loren Clark).
A World War II Army veteran, he attained the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Clark worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville for 26 years retiring in 1981 as a pipefitter. He previously owned and operated a Standard service station on Court Street in Pekin and had worked at the Corn Products Corporation in Pekin.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1869, both in Pekin. He also was a life and 52 year member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Pekin
Funeral services were at 10 a.m Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Robert N. Brite, Jr. and Rev. John L. Bussone officiated. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m Monday, July 10, 2000 at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

BETTY J. MONN
(1925-2000)
Betty J. Monn, 75, of 1106 Court Street, Pekin, died at 12:11 p.m., Saturday, July 1, 2000 at her residence.
Born March 7, 1925 in Esterville, Iowa to Carl A. and Mayme Buchanan Olsen, she married John E. Monn on November 5, 1943 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He died February 16, 1979 in Pekin. Also preceding in death were three brothers (Woodrow "Woody" Olsen, Carl "Babe" Olsen, and Raymond Olsen) and two sisters (Wilhelmina "Pat" Larimore and Louise Brent).
Surviving are five sons, Michael P. (Donna) Monn, James B. (Karon) Monn and Thomas P. (Sharon) Monn, all of Pekin, John E. Monn, Jr. of Chicago and Mark C. (Pam) Monn of Bonner Springs, Kansas; three daughters, Barbara J. (Ray) Covey and Jenna S. (James) Pierson, both of Pekin and Cheryl J. Monn of Goose Creek, South Carolina; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one brother, Earl "Olie" Olsen of Pekin.
Mrs. Monn was employed as a postal clerk at the Pekin post office for 18 years, retiring in 1976. She previously worked as a cook at the B&F Restaurant and Arlington Restaurant, both in Pekin, and Keith's Truck Stop in Tremont. During World War II she worked at a munitions plant in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She was formerly a member of the American Postal Workers Union. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and other crafts.
Services were at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2000 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. The Rev. Thomas Wendt will officiated. There was no visitation. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

CATHERINE STEPHENS

Catherine Stephens, 73, of 8508 South Powell Road, Peoria died at 5:25 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2000 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born February 27, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to Clyde and Beulah Mae Corzine Shadowens, she married Ernest J. Stephens on May 28, 1948 in Oceola, Arkansas.
Surviving are her husband; 3 daughters, Joyce (Tearry) Smith of Glasford, Debra (William) Tibbs of Mapleton, and Rebecca (Bill) Pierce of Athens; 2 sons, Bennie Stephens of Peoria and Gordon (Debra) Stephens of Glasford; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mildred Bentley of Morton, Shirley Smith of Murphysboro, and Phyllis (Gene) Lows of Centralia; and 3 brothers, Irvin (Judy) Shadowens of Mulkytown, Dale (Candace) Shadowens of Goreville, and Ronald (Cindy) Shadowens of Murphysboro. She was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Cremation has been be accorded. A memorial gathering was held from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 1, 2000 at her home.

Kenneth K. Langenbahn, 81, of 228 Parkridge Lane, Pekin died at 1:20 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born January 4, 1919 in Hartsburg to Frank and Gertrude Klockenga Langenbahn. He married Dorothy Tyler on April 3, 1938 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Diane (Ronald) Hutchison of Pekin and Linda Wheller of North Pekin; 2 sons, Ronald Langenbahn of Pekin and Dick Langenbahn of Hann Munden, Germany; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Anna Palmer of San Jose, IL. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Jerry Langenbahn (1938 in Pekin), 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Mr. Langenbahn was employed as a custodian for Monge Property Management for many years. He was also a self-employed mechanic and taught carburetion classes for 4 years. He was a woodworker, fisherman, and hunter.
There will be no visitation or services. Cremation has been accorded.

Vera E. Cassidy, 68, of 203 Highpoint Lane, Pekin, died at 8:20 a.m., Sunday, June 25, 2000 at Pekin Hospital.
She was born October 20, 1931 in Anna to Martin and Mellie Sitter Watkins. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Bill Cassidy (1973 in Pekin), 2 sisters, and 1 brother.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Debra Horton of Pekin; 1 son, Greg (Linda) Cassidy of Bloomington; 5 grandchildren, Nikki Haynes and Toby Haynes, both of Pekin, Angela Cassidy, Didi Cassidy and Jared Johnson, all of Bloomington; 1 great-granddaughter; 3 sisters, Jewell Hale of Pekin, Sadie (Amos) Baggott of Murphysboro, IL and Dorcus Landis of Anna.
Mrs. Cassidy worked at the American Distilling Company in Pekin until its' closing . She last worked as a nurses aid at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Rev. Judy Doyle officiated. There will be no visitation.

JUANITA MARTIN KRIEGSMAN
(1908-2000)
Juanita Martin Kriegsman, 91, of 3 Martin Lane, Pekin, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2000 at Pekin Hospital.
Born December 31, 1908 in Cisco, Illinois to Edgar Otto and Grace Williams Martin, she married John C. Kriegsman on January 6, 1940 in Weldon, Illinois. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, John M. Kriegsman of Peoria, James W.C. (Sandra) Kriegsman of Petaluma, California and A. Richard (Nancy) Kriegsman of Pekin; and four grandchildren, Kathryn C. "Katie" Kriegsman, Amy E. Kriegsman and J. Scott Kriegsman, all of Pekin, and John D. Kriegsman of New York City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Elbert Martin; and three sisters, Geneva Campbell, Lotus Briggs and Marjorie Martin.
She was a graduate of Weldon High School. A member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association, she graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.
She was head of admitting at St. Luke's Hospital in San Francisco, California from 1933 to 1936.
She then worked as timekeeper and as a construction crew manager for the E.O. Martin Company, her father's company based at Weldon. As a crew manager she supervised the construction of sewage treatment facilities in Geneva, Illinois, Aurora, Illinois and Pekin, Illinois at which time she met Mr. Kriegsman. She also was responsible for developing the Audubon Drive Subdivision in Pekin.
She taught English at Weldon High School during World War II. During that same time frame, she also managed her father's grain elevator at Weldon. She later taught one semester in Pekin at Edison Junior High School during 1960.
She was appointed a Regent by former Governor Ogilvie to the Convocation Committee of Lincoln Academy, a position she held for 25 years. She was active in the Republican Party.
She was a former longtime board member of Youth Farm, the Illinois Central College Educational Foundation and of the Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana.
Mrs. Kriegsman was named Grand Marshall of the Pekin Marigold Festival in 1984 together with her husband. She was a past recipient of the Pekin YWCA Outstanding Women of the Year Award. She also was a past honoree of the Altrusa Club of Pekin.
A dedicated volunteer for the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary, Mrs. Kriegsman was involved in many fund raising projects to benefit community not-for-profit organizations. She helped plan and work many a bake sale and was famous for her fudge. She was often seen making several batches a day and certainly made hundreds of pounds.
She was a member of Chapter GW of the PEO Sisterhood in Pekin. For more than 30 years, Mrs. Kriegsman, served Pekin Civic Chorus as ticket chairperson.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. She was one of the originating members of the church's annual "Strawberry Festival," which celebrated its 50th anniversary in June 2000. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and Rachel-Sarah Circle of her church.
A Celebration of Life memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000 at her church. The Rev. Krista L. Brockman and Rev. Gaylord E. Buss will officiated. She was cremated. Private inurnment was in Lakeside Mausoleum in Pekin.

L. ROWENA RAGON
(1920-2000)
Lois Rowena Ragon, 80, of 447 Hillcrest Drive, Creve Coeur, died at 3:21 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2000 in the emergency room of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born January 4, 1920 in Bogota to Earl O. and Mary Blanche Gorrell Swisher, she married Harold Lavern Ragon on April 6, 1940 in Bogota. He died September 6, 1997 in East Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers (Harold N. Swisher and Marvin L. Swisher).
Surviving are one daughter, I. Irene (Kendall) Zehr of Pontiac; one son, Ronald L. (Sandra) Ragon, Sr. of Creve Coeur; four grandchildren, Eric W. "Rick" (Jenny) Zehr of Mapleton, Ronald L. (Cynthia) Ragon, Jr. of Mackinaw, Rodney L. (Patti) Zehr of Pontiac, and Brenda L. (Tim) Hunt of Pekin; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen M. (Frank) Turner of Indianapolis, Indiana; and one brother, A. Ray (Norma) Swisher of Newton.
A hairdresser in earlier years, Mrs. Ragon and her husband owned and operated Ragon Lumber Company in Creve Coeur from 1947 to 1964. She and her husband later owned and operated the Ragon Motel in Creve Coeur, retiring December 21, 1981.
Mrs. Ragon enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Greg Mansur officiated. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at the funeral home. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
