Helen Campbell, 77 of Gladwin passed away Monday, April 24, 2000 at MidMichigan Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral liturgy will be held Thursday, April 27 at 11 a.m. from Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Jerome Niedermier presiding.
Friends may call at the Sisson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a vigil wake service to be held at 7:30 p.m.
Olive Vannest, 86, of Midland went to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 22, 2000 at the MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.
Olive began her life for the Lord on June 17, 1913 in Brown City. She was born to John and Selinda Herber Lucas. She married Wellington Vannest on Sept. 9, 1936, in Kalamazoo.
She lived in the Gladwin area most of her life until moving to Midland in 1981 after her husband died. She made her home with her dedicated sister, Helen Fiedler, who cared for Olive during her illness of the last six years.
Olive was a member of the Gladwin First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughter Linda and husband Roy Staley of Coleman; sons Wayne and wife LaNeel of Midland; Byron and wife Janet and Dennis and wife Susan of Gladwin; Harold and wife Karen of Appleton, Wisc., and Mark of Williamsburg; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Lucas of Howell; sisters Helen Fiedler of Midland; Merle Parsons of Avoca and Ferne Eller of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law Ruth and husband Lloyd Klein of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Gertrude Vannest Hoard of Davison.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
Services were held Tuesday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at Gladwin First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Deane Wyllys and Pastor Terry Turner officiating. Burial was in Pine Ridge Cemetery. Friends were invited to call Monday at the Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin and at the church prior to services. Memorials may be made to the church missions.
Virginia D. Fuccy, 89, of Beaverton, died Sunday, April 20, 2000 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home in Gladwin after a long illness.
Born May 6, 1910 in Monongah, W. V., she lived in Gladwin County since 1989 and previously lived in West Virginia. She was a homemaker.
Surviving is one sister, Catherine and husband Tom Fabrizio of Beaverton. She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Gladwin.
Walter W. Gertz, 83, of Gladwin, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home in Gladwin after a long illness.
Born Jan. 4, 1917 in Sage Township, Gladwin County, he was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County.
Walter married the former Ruth L. Polzien, Oct. 27, 1945 in Gladwin. He worked for the Gladwin County Road Commission as a truck driver, retiring in 1980. He also farmed in Sage Township most all his life.
Walter was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin. He also served many years as a trustee for Sage Township.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, William of Ionia, and Kenneth and wife Carol of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one sister, Locadia Bethel of Gladwin; three grandchildren, Nathan and wife Traci (Fletcher) Gertz, and Michelle, and Kari Gertz; and one great-granddaughter, Emilie Anne Gertz.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lydia Stratton, Amanda Dase, and Martha Stein; and one brother, who died shortly after birth.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gladwin with Rev. Timothy Verity officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Gladwin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church building fund or MidMichigan Hospice.
Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, was in charge of the arrangements.
