Antonio C. Esparza
Antonio C. Esparza, 74, of Blue Is-land, passed from this life Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital & Health Center.
Antonio was born June 20, 1930 in Mexico to the late Maria nee Castaneda and the late Jose Esparza. He was formerly employed by Grief Brothers.
Antonio is the beloved husband of Esperanza nee Munoz. The couple were united in marriage June 16, 1956. He is the loving father of J. Antonio Esparza of Blue Island, Maria (Fernando) Salcedo of Posen, Braulio (Jennie) Esparza of Alsip, Rosie Carrillo fo Blue Island, Amparo (Sam) Berrini of Homewood, Gema King of Blue Island and Adrian (Sandy) Esparza of Monee.
Visitation for Antonio was held Friday, February 4, at THE KRUEGER FUNERAL HOME, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Holy Mass was celebrated Saturday, February 5, at St. Benedict Church. Fr. Ismael Sandoval officiated. In-terment took place at St. Benedict Cemetery.
Lorraine Bieller
Lorraine Bieller nee Schwer, 80, of Calumet Park, passed from this life Monday, February 7, 2005 at her residence.
Lorraine was born January 8, 1925 in Chicago to the late Louise nee Fink and the late August Schwer. She was the beloved wife of the late John Bieller. The couple were united in marriage October 24, 1953 at Hope Lutheran Church in Chicago, where she was also baptized and confirmed. Lorraine is the dear sister of Law-rence and the late August “Bud”, Raymond, Leonard, Robert and LeRoy. She is the cherished cousin of Marcelyn Schutlz and the fond Aunt Sissy to many.
Lorraine began working at the Wrigley Company at the age of six-teen and continued her employment as a gum wrapper for forty-two years, retiring in 1987. She was a member and past president of the Blue Island Lady Elks, and she was also a member of St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and the Blue Island Women’s Club.
Visitation for Lorraine was held Thursday, February 10, at THE KRUEGER FUNERAL HOME, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 11, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norman A. Femrite officiated. Interment took place at Evergreen Cemetery.
Edward Sabotnik
Edward Sabotnik passed from this life on January 13, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital and Health Care Center in Blue Island. He was 66 years old. Ed was born in Blue Island on November 2, 1938, and attended Blue Island Community High School. He was a 29-year veteran of the United States Air Force and co-owner of Charlotte’s Catering.
Ed is the loving husband of Charlotte nee Sassone. The couple will have celebrated 42 years of marriage this April; loving father of four daughters: Debra (Lincoln) Day, Christy Sabotnik, Sherri (Kent) Marley, and Toni Jo Sabotnik; beloved grandfather of 10; fond brother of John Sabotnik of Indiana, Robert Swanson of Blue Island, Terry Sabotnik and Pete Sabotnik, both of Boulder, CO; loving son of the late Easter Swanson of Blue Island and Rex Sabotnik of Boulder, CO. He also leaves behind his beloved and loyal companion Ricky Ricardo, his Chihuahua.
Visitation was held at HICKEY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2429 W. 127th St., Blue Island, on Sunday, January 16, 2005, from 2-9 PM. Mass was celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, January 17, 2005, at St. Donatus Church. Interment was at St. Benedict Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association, (708)388-1636.
William John Busha
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather died peacefully on September 11, 2005, with his family by his side.
Born June 4, 1920, in Blue Island to Paul and Sophie Busha. He married the love of his life, Genele (Pack) Busha. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II and a member of the LDS Church. His greatest love was his wife, his children and grandchildren. His only vice was his fond addiction to chocolate.
Survived by his wife of 60 years, Genele; children: Loree Ann Lindsey, Shelly Fry, Jennifer Curtis, and Richard Bancroft; grand-children: Dale Rowley, Joshua, Lindsey, Jordon Fry, Wm. Justin Fry, Sasha Lindsey, Janae Fry, Katelyn Curtis, Kennedy Curtis; brothers and sisters: twin sister Millie, Stephen Busha, Stephanie Ernst, Milan Busha, Alvin Busha. He was preceded in death by parents and son, Gregory Paul Busha.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 15, 2005, at 12 noon at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive. Interment, Holladay Memorial Cemetery. Donations to Veterans Administration or charity of your choice may made in Bill’s name.
Bruna Scaletta
Bruna Scaletta nee Giannini of Blue Island, 85, passed from this life on November 7, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island. She was born January 11, 1919, and was a homemaker.
Bruna was the mother of Joyce, Samuel, and Lawrence Scaletta; sister to Mary Bytnar; grandmother of seven.
Arrangements were handled by HALLINAN FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Vermont St., Blue Island. Visitation was held Thursday, November 11, 2004, from 3-9 PM. The funeral was also held at the funeral home on November 12, 2004, 11 AM. Father Greg of St. Isidore officiated. Interment was at St. Benedict Cemetery in Crestwood.
Marie A. Schmaedeke
Marie A. Schmaedeke nee Becker, 87, passed from this life on November 4, 2004, at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields. She was born October 1, 1917, in Blue Island and was a homemaker.
Marie is survived by a nephew, George Becker.

The funeral was held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday, November 15, 2004. Pastor Blackwelder officiated. Interment was at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Alsip.
Kenneth Rech
Kenneth Rech of Blue Island, 85, passed from this life on November 4, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island. He was born in Chicago on February 8, 1919.
Kenneth Rech was the general foreman at U.S. Steel for 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eagles. He was also Past Exalted Ruler of the Blue Island Elks of which he was a member for 58 years.
Kenneth was the husband of Ruthe Rech; father of Jaclyn Lovato, Marcia Donahue, and Roxanne Rech; uncle of Carol and Jeffery Rech; grandfather of four.
Arrangements were handled by HALLINAN FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Vermont St., Blue Island. Visitation was held Monday, November 8, 2004, from 1-7 PM. The funeral was held at Hallinan’s on Tuesday, November 9, 2004, in a 10:30 AM service. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens South in Oak Lawn.
Helen Hinton
Helen Hinton nee Korjenek, 88, of Blue Island, formerly of Roseland, passed from this life Friday, No-vember 12, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital & Health Center.
Helen was born November 12, 1916 in Chicago to the late Helen nee Belko and the late John Kor-jenek.
Helen was a devoted homemaker and mother. She was the beloved wife of the late William Hinton and the loving mother of Eleanor Mohr and William (Mary Kay) Hinton. Helen is the devoted grandmother of six and cherished great grand-mother of six. She is the dear sister of Rudolph Korjenek and John Kor-jenek.
Visitation for Helen was held Sun-day, November 14. Funeral ser-vices were conducted Monday, No-vember 15, at THE KRUEGER FUNERAL HOME, 13050 Green-wood Ave., Blue Island. Fr. George Schopp officiated. Interment took place at Mt. Greenwood Cemetery.
William F. Deneen
William F. Deneen, 80, of Blue Is-land, passed from this life Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital & Health Center.
William was born September 3, 1924 in Chicago to the late Theresa nee Mathis and the late William Deneen.
William is the beloved husband of Agnes nee O’Rourke. He is the lov-ing father of William Deneen and Michael (Jean) Deneen and the de-voted grandfather of Kevin, John and Michelle. William is the dear brother of Gerald (Adeline) Deneen, Patricia Hawkins, Mary (Robert) Whittam and the late Frank (Mary) Deneen.
Visitation for William was held Fri-day, November 19, at THE KRUEGER FUNERAL HOME, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Is-land. Holy Mass was celebrated Saturday, November 20, at St. Benedict Church. Fr. George Schopp officiated. Interment took place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Patrick J. Cramer, 5l, a long-time member of the District 218 staff, died suddenly in mid-November. He had worked at Eisenhower and Richards high schools as a substitute teacher for more than 15 years. See schools
Jesus Novoa
Jesus Novoa of Dixmoor, formerly a long time Blue Island resident, died at the age of 74. He was a retired employee of the Whiting Corporation in Harvey where he worked for 15 years.
Jesus was the husband of Anita Novoa nee Rodriguez; father of Alma Ramirez, Elsa Diaz, Carlos Novoa, Pedro Novoa, Elva Novoa, Guillermina Castro, Sandra Novoa, Delfina Nunez, Omar Novoa, and Angelica Vasquez; grandfather of 27; great-grandfather of 5; brother of Gonzalo Novoa.

Patricia M. Jones
Patricia M. Jones of Fort Lauderdale, FL, formerly of Blue Island, passed away on December 11, 2004, in Fort Lauderdale. Patricia was born on March 7, 1935, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and was a retired sales clerk for Toys R Us.
Patricia was the wife of the late Harry Jones; mother of Virginia Parchem, Linda, Harry, Richard, and Robert; sister of Jean Peterson and Charles Gilfoyle; grandmother of 4; great-grandmother of 1.
Arrangements were handled by HICKEY MEMORIAL CHAPELS, LTD., of Blue Island. Visitation was held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, December 16, 2004. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 17, 2004, at Hickey Memorial Chapels in Blue Island.
William A. Schroeder
William A. Schroeder of Blue Island died on Sunday, December 19, 2004, at the age of 67.
William was born on June 12, 1937, and was a long time Blue Island resident. He was an active member of the Blue Island Eagles Lodge, a member of the Good Sam Camping Club, and a long time member of St. Benedict Church in Blue Island. William was a retired employee of the Grand Trunk Railroad and was with the railroad for 45 years.
William was the husband of Josephine Schroeder nee Valencia; father of Debra (Dave) Edlund, Cynthia (Jeff) Hall, and Patricia (the late Elbert) Summers; son of the late Helen Marie and William Schroeder; brother of Richard (Janet) and Robert (the late Jean) Schroeder; uncle of many nieces and nephews; beloved grandfather.
Arrangements were handled by HALLINAN FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Vermont St., Blue Island. Funeral services for William were held on Thursday, December 23, 2004, at 8:45 AM from the Hallinan Funeral Home to St. Benedict Church for 9:30 AM Mass. Father George Schop officiated. Interment was at St. Benedict Cemetery. Funeral services were also held on Wednesday evening, December 22, 2004, under the auspices of the Eagles Lodge of Blue Island.
