Vernon W. Hill, age 86, of Poteet, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2003, in Poteet, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Ruth (Postert)Hill of Poteet and daughters, Patsy Ann (Hill) Thompson and Verna Jean (Hill) Mohr both of Poteet. A sister, Clare Stillwell of Vidor, also survives him. His parents, Odus and Clarice Hill as well as four of his brothers and sisters, Essie Hensley, Annie DeSpain, Otto Hill and Wilburn Hill, preceded him in death. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 2:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday, May 27, 2003. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2003. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Poteet at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 28, 2003. Interment will be held at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet.
Beulah Alice Maske
Beulah Alice Maske, age 91, of Von ormy, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in Lytle, Texas. Her daughter, Karen Tyler of Von Ormy and son, Gary Maske and wife Cozette of Somerset survive her. Her grandchildren, David Maske of San Antonio, Richard Tyler of Von Ormy, Rhonda Kush and fiancee Scooter Mangold of Castroville and great-grandchildren, Kirby Kush and Kendall Kush both of Castrovill and Marissa Anderson of San Antonio, also survive her. She is preceded in death by her husband Gus Maske. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 2:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, May 20, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Land and husband John of Pleasanton; sons, Keith Burris and wife Kristal of Poteet, Jay Burris and wife Shannon of Gilbert, Arizona and a special friend, Tommy Thompson of Poteet. She is also survived by her sister, Sudie Halpin and husband Corky of Poteet and brothers, Roy Rogers and wife Pat of Taylor and Mark Rogers of Poteet as well as six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Williams and wife Cheryl of New Braunfels survive him. His four grandchildren and two great grandhcildren also survive him. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Annette Rheinlander of Poteet, Nancy Elizabeth Ljundahl and husband Bill of Pearsall and sons, Richard Henry Mills and wife Donna of Los Angeles, California and David Louis "Poke" Mills and wife Frances of Cotulla. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 2:00pm to 9:00pm, including a 7:30 vigil service Thursday, August 28, 2003. John Louis Trevino, jr. infant son of John Trevino and Laura Daque of Poteet, Texas, passed away Friday, June 13, 2003 in Jourdatnon, Texas. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Robin Duque of Poteet; maternal great grandparents, Chet Weikle of California and Mary Trinidad of San Antonio; paternal grandfather, Louis C. Trevino and paternal step-grandmother, Olivia Trevino of Pleasanton; paternal grandmother, Norma Cavasos of San Antonio; great grandparents, Bibiano and Maggie Martinez of Pleasanton and great grandmother Emma Cavasos of San Antonio. He is preceded in death by maternal grandfather, John Duque III. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 10:00am to 1:00pm Wednesday, June 18, 2003. Jesus Cano, age 84, of Poteet, Texas, passed away, Sunday, June 15, 2003, in Jourdanton, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Cano of Poteet; daughters, Lilly C. Vela and husband Carlos and Ninfa C. Araiza and husband Frank of Plano; step-daughter, Janie M. Escamilla and husband Margarito of San Antonio; son, Jesse R. Cano and wife Marisela of San Antonio and step-son, Mark R. Moreno of San Antonio.
His brothers Pablo Garcia and Cesar Cano also survive him as well as his nine grandchildren. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Franklin Ham and Mabel Keith Ham as well as her aunt Loela Bagby. She is preceded in death by her parents, Selso and Felipa Saldana; sisters, Jesusa Saldana, Mercedes Saldana and Petra Rodriguez and brothers, Trinidad Saldana and Thomas Saldana. Visitation will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Charlotte from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, including a rosary at 7:30pm Monday, June 23, 2003. Christine Scott
Christine Scott of Jourdanton, Texas passed away Thursday, June 19, 2003 at the age of 88. Christine was preceded in death by her husband Sidney Scott and brother Adolph Arnold Lenarc. Christine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who devoted her life to nursing with 30 years as the school nurse at Jourdanton Independent School District and night supervisor at Mercy Hospital and always caring for family and friends. As her health declined, she spent her last 3 years in The Pavilion, an Assisted Living Center, in Portland, Texas where many loving employees cared for her. She is survived by her three children Joanne Vyvlecka and her husband James of Jourdanton,Texas, Barbara Matocha and her husband Gene of Portland, Texas, and Jim Scott of Boerne, Texas; seven grandchildren, Melissa Vyvlecka Cozzitorto and husband Rick of St. Jospeh, Missouri, Dennis Vyvlecka and wife Amanda of Jourdanton and Gregory Vyvlecka and wife Elizabeth of Jourdanton, Kimberly Matocha of Dallas, Joseph Matocha of Austin, Lindsay Scott of San Antonio and Hunter Scott of Boerne; three great-grandchildren, Brooke Vyvlecka, Clarie Vyvlecka, Alexandria Cozzitorto and one niece Martha Elaine Dryzamala of San Antonio. Visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2003 at 2:00pm until 9:00pm with a Vigil service beginning at 7:30pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Texas. Funeral services will be Monday, June 23, 2003 at 10:00am at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Jourdanton, Texas and interment at St. Matthew's Cemetery.
